We are not fusion, contemporary or experimental, what we do is bring you the best, time tested Mexican cuisine and drinks.
I rarely write reviews at all, but I had to make an exception for Xolo Tacos! The food is marvelous and the drinks are to die for! The service is quick and friendly, lots of smiling faces. My family had a wonderful time. We will surely be returning, and next time with friends!
One of the best local spots for authentic Mexican cuisine. The fish tacos are the best I have ever eaten. And the array of tequilas is unmatched
Drinks were good . Service was good. Ambiance was good. But the food - NO ! Just not good.
And everything is sticky. Needs a good cleaning and the food needs to improve.
The food is always great, especially the shrimp tacos and margaritas! The wait staff is very friendly and attentive, and meets your every need. I would definitely recommend Xolo.
It is always a good experience. The tortilla soup is amazing and the carnitas tacos are outstanding. You also have tons of vegetarian and vegan options!
Service and ambiance were nice, margaritas were great, food was very underwhelming. We tried it, but probably won't go back.
The welcome we received was genuine and exciting. The portions were generous and flavors cleans and bright. The tomatillo salsa was delicious! The fajitas, burritos, salads and soups were full of fresh ingredients and fragrant spices. The children devoured their dishes, nachos and churros with hot chocolate. We will return!!
I only write about restaurants I love, ones which I enjoy returning to and ones to which I would send my family and friends knowing that they will have a nice cocktail, some really good food and an overall great experience. Xolo Tacos more than fits the bill. Yes, the tacos are really worth having, as are the fajitas, but the rest of the menu is rather awesome too. Surprise superstar on the menu is the Consommé de Pollo, that is, the chicken soup with shredded chicken breast, rice, avocado, carrots and lime, which I suggest is better than any grandmother’s homemade recipe. Last night we also had the pan seared salmon and the chicken con mole poblano, both large portions of really excellent quality fish and poultry, served appetizingly well. The salmon was served with spinach, roasted tomato salsa, sweet potato puree, a bit of seasonal veggies and some rice. The grilled chicken breast (actually two half breast pieces!) was served with rice, refried beans and salsa, with some extra mole sauce on the side. Both dishes were really tasty and well priced. After about a dozen visits, we now gravitate to sitting at the bar for dinner, where José, a fine and welcoming mixmaster, is always happy to modify a cocktail to fit your tastebuds. But it all starts at the top: Carlos, the owner, welcomes and befriends all new guests, and his energy and spirit is felt throughout. This place, hidden just north of the firehouse in Bryn Mawr, is well worth a visit, which no doubt will turn into more than one visit. I would give this restaurant two thumbs up, but I have one hand on my Pacifico beer bottle and the other hand on my tasty taco. Enjoy!
Cute little place, friendly staff- fun!
Xoxo is a Go-To place for me and my husband (& many of our friends!). The food, service, ambiance, are all excellent. Prices are reasonable, which I becoming more rare here on the Main Line. And Carlos is always warmly attentive & welcoming.
Solid meal. Needs more protein in the shrimp taco, and charge more for it, so it makes sense for them as well. Otherwise great
Always a pleasure eating a Xolo! Friendly and attentive staff, classic Mexican cuisine and great drink too. I highly recommend to anyone!
Delicious food and fantastic service! My family always looks forward to coming to Xolos!
I have lived in Philly just over 2 years and have been looking for a great Mexican/Hispanic spot. I went with my girlfriend during Happy hour and it was amazing. The staff was attentive and extremely friendly. She ordered a margarita (watermelon perhaps?) and I had 2 Las Mulas (Mules). Both drinks were made on the spot with fresh ingredients and were thoroughly enjoyed. We ordered: Guacamole, Floutas, Empanadas (Picadillo), Pastor and Carnitas tacos. The guacamole tasted fresh and was good. The floutas were delicious and beautifully made. The empanadas were large, crispy, and piping hot! Between the pastor and carnitas tacos, my favorite was the pastor. They were full of meat, diced pineapples, onions, cilantro and were incredible. I will definitely get when I go again! Another item to note, the bartenders were friendly and talked with us while we dined which livened you the entire experience (one woman knew 3 languages!). The establishment was clean for the most part and we were given place mats at the bar (nice touch). Completely satisfied and addicted.
Very good food great service
The best margaritas in town I really recommend this place
Very authentic Mexican meal. Food was high quality and fresh. Service was nice and helpful. Great selection of Tequilas and excellent fresh Margaritas, no mixes! Beautiful atmosphere. Fun, delicious go to neighborhood restaurant. Look forward to my return.
It was our second visit to Xolo Tacos, this time to celebrate a birthday. All 5 of us enjoyed our meals. The chips and salsa verde were quickly consumed by the first of us to arrive. The staff refilled them for the 2 late arrivals. We ordered 3 types of fajitas: shrimp, flank steak and pastoral (pork). My son (adult) ordered enchiladas and I ordered Salmon de la plancha. I was looking for a healthy dish with more veggies and less starch. This was delicious! Sweet potatoes smothered with salsa verde and salmon on top. Asparagus and rice completed the plate. Perfect! It was delicious! And I eagerly enjoyed my leftovers for lunch the next day. The others all enjoyed their meals as well. My mom doesn't go out to eat very often anymore. She is eager to return to this place! On Tuesday nights a guitarist plays quietly and beautifully in a corner. We recognised each tune and quietly sang along as we recognised them. We were impressed enough to leave a large tip in his jar. I wish he were there more often. We shared a serving of tres leches cake with a candle on top for our daughter's birthday. We easily got 4 yummy slices out of it and mom & I shared one. We'll be back! Hopefully on a Tuesday!
This was our second visit, first was less than stellar but we decided to give it a second try when friends wanted to go. They dropped my plate then brought me another and the food was raw. Needless to say, we won't be back.
Showed up for reservation and was told that they were booked (only two tables were filled). They said the reservation should not have been accepted. They looked at screen for a while (all while I am thinking how can they be booked the restaurant is empty), and asked me if we could finish our dinner in an hour. I was actually glad they asked as we were heading to the Film theater for a preview of The Irishman.
We were seated at 5:50. By 6:15 every table was filled and the staff was in high gear! We got our drinks, empanada appetizer (both the beef and cheese were equally amazing), and the Tortilla Soup (it was delicious but could have been a little spicier). I had the Asada burrito which was huge!!! It was also extremely flavorful and delicious. My wife had the rock shrimp in olive oil appetizer for her dinner and a side of the guacamole. I didn’t try either, but she said the guac was as good as she ever had and couldn’t stop talking about the shrimp and how good they were.
I can understand why this place filled up so fast. Everything about the place was fantastic. I thanked the staff for allowing us to dine and got us in. It’s 2 hours from my house and I will plan on coming back when I’m the area again. I’ll just make sure I reserve a week or so in advanced instead of 10 minutes before arrival.
What a great place from the decor, food, staff!!!! 5 stars for you!
Excellent food, atmosphere and service!!!! This restaurant is a great place for food and fun
Came for happy hour and stayed for dinner. Food and service were very good and have remained consistent. We will definitely return.
Good meal and value.
Delicious meal! The best Margarita ever!
Great fajitas and burritos.
Everything was wonderful. The owner himself waited on us and he could not have been more helpful or pleasant.
Great place for upscale Mexican food. Their cocktails are excellent. Beautiful cozy spot. My carnitas fajitas were a little overcooked and dry, but everyone else had a great meal. Limited parking.
Nice atmosphere, great food and good value. We all enjoyed the evening!
We brought two couples for their first visit - we all had a marvelous evening: food presentation and flavors were exceptional. Tuesday was quiet and the guitarist was a bonus.
This place is a gem! Everything on the menu tastes like it was made specifically for you, not mass produced. The mole sauce is sooo good, the flank steak is done to perfection and whatever sauce they put on the shrimp is to die for. We love that the owner greets you at the door with a smile and assists the attentive wait staff with service. This is our go to restaurant for amazing Mexican food and we have never had a bad experience. Go, eat and and enjoy!!!
The food was not very good. I had the vegetarian tacos (three types, and none of them were great). The Nopales taco was too salty. The squash blossom was lacking in flavor. The potato and peppers were bland.
We took a large group for my daughter’s birthday and the food and service could not have been bettter. The food was excellent and the service was great for a party of 12. Really wonderful dining experience!
Drinks are great, food is just okay. Maybe go for Happy Hour only
The manager wentout of his way to ensue we had a great experience last night.
Great service...and food. Thank you for a nice experience. Hope to be back soon.
Great traditional and fresh Mexican food. The tacos and fajitas are favorites but you have so much to choose from; guacamole, quesadillas, soups and salads and more.
Margaritas are the best.
The food is fresh and very tasty. But it can get loud if you are there when it's busy. Love Xolo.
Fantastic. Consistantly good food!
We ordered the Mahi Mahi blackened tacos, shrimp tacos, chicken quesadillas, and a steak burrito. The tacos were so skimpy they looked like the were on a diet! The fish tacos were blackened on the inside and the outside, looked as if they had ran out of fish because the pieces I received were so small. Service was slow and lackluster, we had to chase the server down for water refills. And the icing on the cake was the automatic gratuity for 4 ppl😕
Delicious food. Attentive staff. Will go back!
Love this restaurant but off the other night- service was really slow, the hostess/manager was on verge of being rude, and my favorite soup had a layer of oil on top - usually I love this restaurant.
