R5 to Bryn Mawr PA
On the positive side, service was excellent .
On the negative prices high, portions small and not very good . There are better options for Mexican food in Wayne .
Our food was more spicy than last time
The cactus leaf salad was too spicy for us and the green sauce under the salmon was not to our taste. A little sour, which was not what we expected. The server was a little rough in handling the plates. Could use more training.
Great jalapeño margarita!!
Found it very slow to get our entrees but we were not in a rush.
I would go again m, really cute decor.
There is a lot to like about this restaurant--nice woodwork, friendly wait staff, some good dishes--but a few basics were missing. First, the tortilla chips, advertised as "in house" were both hard (difficult to chew) and greasy. I wished they had just taken some out of a bag. Secondly, the service was sporadic--friendly flurrys of activity in between long gaps where we couldn't find a waiter. Third, my husband's entree was served without proper heating (or maybe it was heated but cooled off) and we had to send it back to heat it up. I had the flan for dessert and I thought it was wonderful; my husband enjoyed the burros.
Server was nice but inexperienced I feel. Food was good but not exceptional.
The noise level was surprisingly high volume and loud considering the restaurant was only half full. In addition, our server rushed through the meal. We weren’t even finished eating while asking if we’d like dessert. She also seemed very disappointed that no one in my party ordered drinks/cocktails.
The guacamole and tacos are delicious!
Atmosphere was nice. Service was not very good. Hostess had to come over and take our order. It took about 15 minutes just to get our drinks. Food was just average. Prices were high and not a lot of food.
Terrible service but good food. Poor acoustics - loud. However, as suburban restaurants go - one of the better ones.
One thing I'd mention - the guacamole was good but lacked any flavor - lime, salt, heat.
We were there on a Saturday night. My fourth visit. Food was good; service was excellent. Reasonable prices and great atmosphere. Good selection of tequilas - reasonably priced. Has outdoor dining if weather permits. I'll definitely be going back.
Was looking for a good Mexican Restaurant while we were on the Schuylkill driving home. Looked on the internet and was able to make a reservation on Open Table and arrived 15 minutes later.
Everything was outstanding! We had the guacamole, quesadilla, fish tacos and dessert. Everything was outstanding! Prices are good, attentive staff and food is exceptional! So glad we found this place!
Xolo has reliably good food, a friendly staff, and pleasant environment- one of our favorites on the Main Line.
I didn’t get my open table pints from my visit on July 20. Very disappointing!
We absolutely love this restaurant fantastic food at good prices and wonderful servers/owners
Great as usual; great food excellent service!
Kitchen was very, very slow. Good food
Guacamole appetizer, Pescado and Mahi Mahi Tacos were excellent!!
Keep up the great works and service
Reasonably pleasant but generally incompetent service . Main courses came before appetizers were finished. Dessert was offered well before completion of main course. Feeling of being rushed-not pleasant.
Food itself was ok -steak quesadilla decent, not great. Wife's tacos -needed to order 3 of same-no "mix and match"-considering that is their name -the tacos should be great. Very ordinary-not offered choice of "hard or soft". Salsa/chips ok at best. The salsa was dilute, bland, relatively tasteless.
The "water filler" busboy was punctual and steady. However, my ordered beer came without a glass-needed to be separately requested.
Overall- if I were an easy "grader" would say AVERAGE but more realistically a "FAIR". Not positive enough to offset negatives, per above.
We will not return.
Food was great. Came quickly and was very hot! We had a great time
The food was delicious and the hostess was very gracious to still except our reservation. We had a wonderful dinner on Sunday night. Thank you
Uninspired almost tasteless Mexican food. Save your money and go to any other Mexican restaurant.
Always a great dinner and a happy time here. Xolo has delicious soups (so good!), all kinds of tasty tacos and fajitas, and great drinks, especially for summer. We love it here.
We gave Xolo a second chance after a lackluster experience. The service was excellent and on the top of their game. For an appetizer we had the guacamole and it was one of the most generous portions we've ever had. It was nice to be able to save some for our fajitas and tacos. The food was also much, much better than our last experience. If Mexican food can be dull, bland and flavorless that was our first experience, this time it was the exact opposite. Ole! We'll be going again.
Great service. Waitress was outstanding.
Service was initally good when we sat down, however Our waitress did not return often. The food was boring and dry. Would not return.
This was my second time at Xolo Tacos. The first time, our party of four was seated upstairs. Our dinner took a long time to arrive, but before we got too restive, the waitress arrived with a second drink for each of us, compliments of the management, because the kitchen was very busy and our food was delayed. Very pleasant. Service was good and the food was delicious.
The second time, our party of four was seated outside. It was a balmy evening, but the view, of the parking lot, is not inspiring. Our waitress introduced herself and told us she'd been working at Xolo for only three weeks. We gave her full points for trying hard, but the real kicker was the bus boy. I commend Xolo for hiring special needs people, but he interrupted us every few minutes to ask if we needed more water. If possible, he should be taught to look at the water glasses, and see if they need to be refilled. The best (or worst) moment came when he was given a glass to refill, and overfilled it. He spilled water on one of our party, and then poured some water from the glass back into the pitcher. We all said, 'Now you have to get a new pitcher, you cannot use that one again!' I hope he did. (None of us let our water glasses be refilled after that little incident.) The food was good, but my fajitas carnitas were not as juicy as they were last time - perhaps a different chef? Anyway, the service was rough the second time, which did affect our enjoyment of the evening.
We had a reservation... after we paid our check and were finishing our drinks, the hostess asked us to get up bc they had another party waiting for our table... literally we were asked to leave as soon as we handed in our checks so that they could seat the next party... pathetic and unprofessional the drinks were watered down I couldn’t hear myself think it was so loud and the food was less than authentic
Outstanding food and service. There were some interesting and fun things on the menu that I've never seen before and even the weird ones (corn smut) were delicious. I will be back there!
The worst moment of my life was watching our nachos be delivered to another table. The best moment of my life was when ours arrived. Tacos are adorable, chicken is spicy, and everyone was easy to deal with. The tables are a little close together, but we survived.
I wouldn't make a return visit to this restaurant. The service was inattentive, and the food was not good. If you must try this restaurant for yourself, avoid the fajitas de asada -- the steak is inedible. The guacamole is boring unless you request some salsa verde and mix it in to the guacamole. Even the chips are a disappointment.
I've been to Xolo's before and liked the experience. Mothers' Day dinner, however, was not that great. The server was enthusiastic but not very attentive to details, and she rushed through the ordering process. Also, every time I have been here (I'm vegan) I have ordered the three-tacos with three different options. This time they refused to do it, on the grounds that "we're going to be very busy later tonight". It was 5.30pm and half the tables around us in the second floor were empty. The table was unsteady, the salt/pepper shakers didn't work, conversation was interrupted unceremoniously. Perhaps it was a bad night for all involved. I'm still willing to come back for the food and the ambience, but you have to do better with training the servers. One shouldn't feel like they're doing customers a favor.
Really yummy reasonably priced tacos and margaritas. The guac was perfect.
Went there for Cinco de Mayo. Food was decent, but overpriced. Service was slow even early in the night when not very bust.
Every dish that was served was excellent. We had a really nice table outside and despite some minor glitches in service, we had a really enjoyable experience. Would absolutely return.
The service was amazing right when you walk in you get greeted at the door. The margaritas are freshly made. The tacos are great on happy hour and you can’t forget the steak ! It was a great dinner experience.
A great spot for a mexican meal fix. Delicious meal including fajitas and guacamole.
Atmosphere is perfect.
This was my first time. Really enjoyed everything (the food, the service, atmosphere, etc.). Definitely recommend this if you want to go out on a date or go out with friends/family.
