XO Prime Steaks Downtown Cleveland Ratings and Reviews
My boyfriend and I made reservations for valentines day. I felt like I was walking into a celebrity's home. The decor was updated, sexy and sophisticated. Everything we tried tasted so fresh like they went down to the water and plucked the eyeballs out and put it on our plates. Best seafood I have ever had hands down. The cocktails and dessert were delicious so much so that I had 3 holy waters. Jim took great care of us he was very knowledgeable, engaging, efficient/quick, and made us feel like he appreciated us as much as we appreciated him. I felt like I was able to spend quality time with my boyfriend in a relaxed and beautiful atmosphere and although it was expensive it was well worth it for all the reasons I have previously stated!
We were excited for a special Valentine dinner,Waiter was very good and told us how long steaks were aged. The steaks came out mixed up and my wife’s medium well was pretty red and had to be sent back but they were fine after that. Our mistake was adding lobster tails to our dinners obviously not their expertise ,undercooked and a bit stringy ...we made the best out of it but there are considerable better choices to be made the next time.
My wife ordered the Australian Wagyu steak which costed around $120 but it looked and tasted as a skirt steak with lots of greasy parts. It’s not our first time eating a Wagyu steak and this is by far the most disappointed of them all. The service was great and the place has a great ambience but the food was not surprising at all taking in consideration the cost as well .
Fantastic restaurant and worth the price. The overall theme is very modern, from the decor to the music. Very inviting and friendly staff, and the food is second to none. Best New York strip I've ever had. Cooked to perfection. Highly recommend and my favorite restaurant in town.
Our dinner was fantastic. The lump crab cake was delicious and the calamari was cooked to perfection. We split the large rib eye for two and it was wonderful. The Brussel sprouts with bacon and garlic mashed potatoes were the perfect sides. Nice ambiance and service was good.
My husband was craving a good steak for his birthday and was very pleased with what he got. I had a delicious sea bass. My husband almost fell out of his seat for nutella creme brulee. Only about a 1/3 of the tables were being used in the dining room. Unfortunately, there was a loud table of 4 businessmen nearby who were talking and swearing that we had to leave our table. I think this place likely attracts this crowd which is unfortunate for those of us trying to have a normal conversation with our dinner companion. We may return but if we do it may be to the bar only.
This wasn't my first time eating at XO's downtown. Previous visits were great but the one this past Saturday was probably my last. I'll first say that the food was great. There were no issues with the food all of my issues were with the service. First off it took 15 minutes for someone on the wait staff to ask us about drinks. That only happened because my wife approached one of them so who knows how long we would have been sitting. Next, they sat a huge dinner party right next to us. There were in excess of 20 people there and they ran out of seats so people were just standing in the aisles. We were constantly bumped and could barely hold any kind of conversation. The Beechwood location is 1000x better. Stay away from this place.
Food was excellent!! My only critique is that when we arrived it took them 15-20 minutes to have our server come to our table to address us and offer us something to drink. However, from that point forward the service was excellent. The Entrees were exceptional! We will definitely recommend this restaurant.
We dined New Years Eve. We hadn’t been sitting 5 minutes when our waiter came over to take our food order. Hadn’t even received drinks yet. I guess he wanted to turn our table quick.
Food very disappointing. My New York Strip was chewy and lacked flavor. Lobster tail was mushy. My husband had rib eye, also chewy. I expect prime meat at these prices to be the best. Unfortunately, this was not the case.
Place was great. Hostess was very nice. Server was good haloed us out with choosing meals since it was our first time. Wish tables were a little further apart but other than that place was great. Would deff go back an recommend for special occasion or nice date night.
Ordered the special Beef Wellington - was supposed to be medium but was closer to medium rare. (That's actually how I would've requested it, but someone expecting medium would've been unhappy.) Meat wasn't as flavorful as I would've expected. Also, my husband's filet was great but the shrimp add-on was bland/boring.
Also, when I made the reservation, I mentioned the occasion was my husband's birthday (he actually was born on 12/31) but no mention of this was made when we arrived or by our server. Other restaurants have recognized a special event upon arriving at the restaurant but not at XO. I was disappointed.
Overall, I would probably not go back to XO again as there are so many wonderful steak houses in Cleveland.
I came for my birthday the food was cold I asked for my food to be boxed up and they never brought my food out my happy birthday dish was threw quickly together.. I usually go to the one in pepperpike which is usually good I’m truly disappointed on the service and food quality
My experience was very disappointing. I chose XO because of online ratings. Two out of three steaks were over cooked. After trying to get our waitresses attention, the other diners were half way into main course. Waitress demanded my steak be cut into center to check doneness , steak was beyond medium & l had ordered my cowboy steak medium rare. Manager came over & confirmed it was way past medium and offered a replacement steak. I did not want to eat alone because others would have been done with their meals before my new steak arrived. Brussels sprouts were very hard. I never received my fries even though they were on the bill. Made mention to waitress & she huffed away. I left hungry & very disappointed but left tip anyway. No one cared or attempted to make good.
I thought that the place was really fancy, me and my girlfriend really liked the place. I thought that the price for the steak was pretty up there in price. I say that becuase it just comes with the steak an no sides with it. I think if you pay for a steak like that you shld atleast get two sides with it. But overall really nice place an up class service. You guys did a very nice birthday fish for her which I was so pleased with. Seeing her smile when she was surprised was all that mattered. Thank you xo!
Very pleased with this Cleveland icon. Fantastic steaks and tasty sides. I enjoyed the 10 Oz filet with crab Oscar and ordered truffled lobster Mac and cheese as a side. Appetizers were perfect, fried calamari and duck wings. All around a great dinner. I highly recommend it.
came here for a business dinner. ate at the bar as was just by myself. Steak was superb, however it is a bit pricy even for a steakhouse ( and I am used to NYC and DC steakhouse prices). service was very attentive. wine list was excellent, and there are some values out there to be had. Skews heavily to Napa cabs, which is to be expected. Definitely recommend for the quality of the food and service, especially if you are going to be able to expense it.
I was in Cleveland for a long weekend and someone recommended XO. It was ok, both steaks had to be returned because they were under cooked. Grautin potatoes had a thick layer of cheese that over powered the potatoes. Truffle mac & cheese was flavorless and swimming in cheese sauce. Overall, not impressed. I’d try elsewhere since you have options.
