Jacky's Waterplace Restaurant (Downtown, Providence)
It was my second date with a wonderful woman and when we showed up, it was shut down for good. Luckily, right next door was the Mills Tavern and they seated us immediately. We had a wonderful dinner there.
Don’t expect a leisurely meal if you go for the pajama brunch in the afternoon as they close at 2:30pm. They make sure you know it. Very disappointing but the food was good. No dessert though (even if they aren’t closing)
Incredible food, sweetest server ever. Highly recommend!
We had a lovely time and our server Joe was so nice. Thanks XO!
Always wanted to try this olace and I knew it would be a bit more expensive than I would normally be comfortable with but when we got our food it was very clear that it was worth the price. Everything was cooked perfectly and the portions were satisfying. I would recomend it to anyone wanting to go out to dinner for a special occasion or date. We were incredibly happy with our experience.
Typically, one of my favorite things at XO is the excellent service which I am sorry to say, we did not have on my last visit. Our server was pleasant enough but was clearly new and not well trained on service standards of wine service and menu knowledge. The food however, is always excellent. It will continue to be a favorite spot to dine in Providence. It was just unfortunate that we had a mediocre service experience on a special night.
Nice setting for holiday brunch. Food was overcooked. Service was great.
I took my mother for brunch on Mother's Day. Ambiance is great, service was very slow and food was really unremarkable. There are several better restaurants in the area.
Meal, drinks and service were excellent, even on a busy Saturday night
Loved pajama brunch!
Had a great meal from start to finish. Staff was very friendly
I was so disappointed in my brunch at xo cafe. I brought a friend from out of town and we waited over an hour to get our food. I specifically ordered a meal with house made bread, but it was very clearly an English muffin. After taking our order, our waitress did not stop by to check up on us and apologize for the wait, I had to flag her down twice to make sure the food was still coming. I have come to xo for dinner and loved the atmosphere and food, which is why i wanted to come back, but now I don't think I would come again.
The food was okay. Lacked flavoring. The service was mediocre at best. It took us about an hour to get our food, and it didn’t all come out together. One of the dishes in my party came out completely wrong and it was an allergy dish. It then took an additional 15 minutes to get a new one. The manager never came over, nor did anyone really acknowledge the problem. On an a positive note, the mimosa and espresso martinis were delicious.
Great food, great service, great atmosphere
Our server was great; food was delicious.
The food and atmosphere was perfect for date night. And our server Tammy was amazing; was attentive and made awesome recommendations
The food quality has gone down. The service was great. The place was dead
Very much felt like a bar that served food, not a restaurant. Food was good, especially the Brussel sprouts. Service was slow, felt bad as there was only one server... better for singles, or a date, not families.
Food is great...service is always sub par
Fun atmosphere and very friendly vibe. Love the staff and the dinner menu. Brunch menu has fewer choices—the standard fare well prepared.
Meal was nicely paced out and not rushed. Shared the Bento Box to start - it was a great sampler and just the right amount of food. My husband has the duck and I had the tuna for the main meal. Both excellent. Finished up with an espresso martini and the hot Milton chocolate cake.
The food was outstanding and cooked to perfection. Our waitress, Tammy makes this place very special time after time. She is your biggest asset!
We brought our friends from CT and they also enjoyed their meal and Tammy’s professionalism and charisma. We simply XO this place because of the service she provides.
Great food and our waitress Tammy was the best!!! We will definitely be back!!
Went on Saturday night. Swordfish tasted like it went bad. Food overall terrible.
Great experience. Food and server were awesome!
Tammy continues to bring the love with each time we eat here. The food is always great. The ambiance is fantastic.
Visiting providence and visited this restaurant. The food, drinks and service was excellent.
Romantic restaurant in Providence. Went here to celebrate Valentines Day..
Very good experience. Great food. The “not your mothers meatloaf “ was outstanding. Staff was engaging. Really enjoyed ourselves.
Found advertisement on FB gave it a try for Valentine’s Day ...Pleasantly surprise !!!The food was DELISH ,staff was friendly and came by just enough without being intrusive. The music was softly heard and we could have a conversation without yelling.Would definitely go back !Thinking brunch!!
Excellent food, service and drinks will definitely return!
It was a little pricy but for good reason. The food was WONDERFUL and on mondays they have half off bottles of wine so that was a great value. Very worth the visit.
We waited almost 1hour for our food to arrive. Server was not at fault but did not keep us appraised of reason for slow service
We had scallops and tuna steak. Once they arrived were delicious
Went there for my birthday! The atmosphere rates four stars, but my scallop dish had way too much spice. Very overpowering. And the Chicken special on a scale of 1 to 10 was maybe a 6. But what would have made our visit much better would have been some type of interaction with the waitress. She was lackluster at best no interaction. Very little input as to wines or food. That was the biggest drawback for us that night. We go out to eat a lot and interaction with our server rates right up there with atmosphere and food ,,,,,needs much improvement in that area
Cool place. The bartender Emma was a gem! Our drink and brunch meal was quite tasty.
Noise level was low and the space very warm and welcoming. We hope to try it again for dinner next time we visit Providence.
Our waitress was Fantastic!! You'd think she owned the place with how well she took care of us!
Expensive for what you get. It took one and a half after our soup to get our dinner. Both my husband and I had an upset stomach later that night. There are so many great restaurants in Providence, that there is no need to ever go back here.
Visited for their "PAJAMA BRUNCH" in PJs and bathrobes and all had a free Bloody Mary / Mimosa. Service very attentive and food very good. Will be back!
Must say one of the best New Year's Eve at a restaurant ever. The duck trio and tuna were incredible. Kudo's to Chef Andy , keep up the good work. The dessert by Pastry Chef Katie was undescribable, she made a chocolate lovers dream. It was so good we had to order more. Definitely a come back and one of the best restaurants in Providence.
Went w another couple on New Year’s Eve. Outstanding. Don’t miss the meatloaf. Delish. Terrific service. Will return💗
