We loved this place. The ambiance was better than the pictures reflect it's low lit and has a date night romantic vibe. There is a beautiful bar and nice brick walls leading to a separate upstairs dining area - not sure what upstairs looks like but it looked cool from below! We got a few appetizers which were all good but I would particularly recommend the fried rice.. We had sweet potato croquettes that were good but not phenomenal and the pork belly which was more like a pork roast with a crispy edge. I liked the slaw that came with it more than the pork. Lastly we had the seafood paella and it was so bomb and loaded with seafood. Overall a great meal, great service and a great experience.

The new chef is off to a fantastic start -- clearly passionate about his cuisine, and protective of its authenticity. That being said, he also has a great, flexible attitude and so far has been very accommodating but, importantly, with no loss of flair. Today's "not-your-usual-carrot-soup" was a surprisingly hot (as in spicy), and a fun taste adventure. The salmon, prepared with a couple of adjustments for my dietary "peculiarities", was perfection!

food was delicious. Lovely setting. Good service. Too damn quiet and empty. Do some advertising, and put on some music for crying out loud. You could hear a pin drop in there! Also, a bit cold temp for the ladies. Asked them to turn the AC down twice.

New chef seems to be working out great. His new dishes include the branzino, and the grilled octopus -- both of which are BRILLIANT!

The Sea bass was recently introduced onto the menu by the new chef, and it's fantastic! It's the whole fish served with Romesco sauce on the bottom, and a garlic - chili - olive oil concoction drizzled on top... Absolute genius! So good!!

It seems the heart breaking rumors of Xiomara's closure had been greatly exaggerated, lol. This was my first dine there since being mercifully disabused of said rumors, and I was thrilled to be back. The new chef has brought some interesting changes to the menu, but most of the old faves remain also. This visit I tried one of the new items, which was sea scallops topped with a preserved lemon preparation, and served on a bed of pureed eggplant. Different, alright; and the lemon struck me as a bit aggressive, but somehow it still felt like it hit the spot and was quite satisfying -- healthy, to boot. Service was as flawless as ever.

Although the food was slow to get to my friend and me, the wait staff and cooks did a wonderful job at making up for it and celebrating my best friends birthday with a dairy free dessert after paying attention to the things she ordered. Very thoughtful! The food was delicious and everyone was so nice! Overall we had a very good visit!

I love this restaurant. The setting is lovely, the food is delicious, the service is solicitous, the mojitos are to die for. You can actually have a conversation with your tablemates! I cannot praise it enough. It may be my favorite LA restaurant.

We loved the food, service, ambiance, music and Chef Jesus's visit to our table. Our guest and I found the mojito delicious. The gazpacho, pan roasted chicken with saffron risotto and crispy salmon were memorable. The coconut creme brûlée sealed the meal impeccably. We hope more people come to the restaurant!

My husband is Cuban so I took him here for dinner for his birthday. The food isn't traditional Cuban food but a variation of great flavors with a Cuban flair. He really enjoyed it and so did I. The service was friendly and great. We enjoyed the ambiance. We will definitely be back!

Delicious food and attention to detail. The staff was perfect and friendly. They should update the look of the restaurant though. Maybe more of an urban setting? Ditch the fine dining, white table cloth look. I'd go again though for the pork hash and perfect mojitos.

Neighborhood Gem!

Beautiful, tasteful decor, ambiance, great menu and drinks, soft jazz and lighting, just a wonderful experience. Tucked into a quiet corner of busy Melrose Avenue, this is the ultimate place for catching up with a friend, a birthday celebration or anniversary, a quiet night out. Food is delicious and creative, staff is so friendly and the place has an old world feel, like you're in a different country. Highly recommend

Definitely wasn't one of the memorable valentine's menus i have ever had. Overpriced for what was served, had to ask for bread/chips for a very watered ceviche (wouldn't have been an issue it it wasn't so watery), had to ask for water, candle was brought to the table halfway through the first course. Service was ehhh... The guy had a good attitude but wasn't very attentive, and it wasn't only him as I overheard other couples saying the same thing. At best this was a $40-$50 prefix, definitely not worth $70. Only think I would come back for is the mojito.

Walking in to a warm greeting; enjoying a delicious lunch in a lovely space with flawless service; and not paying through the nose -- I don't need much more than that on a Thursday afternoon. This time my dining partner had the Duck Confit Salad, which he loved and declared he needed to have next time as well. I happily devoured my dish of Mussels prepared with a twist to accommodate my dietary issues. Out of the park again!

We had a great evening here. The pork hash, on our waiters recommendation, was delicious and the other dishes were very enjoyable. The mojitos live up to their reputation and are divine. The waiting staff were attentive without being pushy, helpful and knowledgeable making dinner here a real pleasure.

I dined solo this time but the fantastic service and food made for delightful "company". I branched out menu-wise and ordered the Roasted Poblano And Corn Soup, which had a nice light kick to it and was delicious; and followed with their Beet Salad with Roast Chicken added -- a perfect lunch.

One of the finest restaurants since 2004, that has been off the radar with our food critics.
When you first walk in you feel you arrived at time from the past.
The restaurant will transform you in another world . The atmosphere is perfect for a romantic night out or with friends .
They have a upstairs with 2 private rooms that is so much part of the downstairs feel.
The menu is Cuban with Nuevo Latino accents. The Cuban seafood pasta that is perfect as a main course or an appetizer to get in the mood for all the best to come. The spices
only enhance the perfectly cooked items on the menu as the fish, meat or risotto.
The Mojito is smooth with many layers of flavor and made with fresh sugar cane.
If want to avoid the typical noisy restaurant and enjoy a cuisine from heaven go to
Xiomara

Work/travel prevents me from eating here as often as I used to, but each time I return I'm reminded why it's such a fave of mine. I love the light, uplifting energy of the room; the food is consistently fabulous; and I'll go as far as saying Garrison might be one of the finest waiters I've ever, ever been served by. This time I had my "standby" Sweet Potato Croquettes, followed by the Mussels (which the chef generously did my way to accommodate my issues). My dining partner loved his Fish Tacos platter. We both left feeling very happy with every aspect of our dine.

I was disappointed. I can't tell you the last time I wrote a negative review but for $240 for two the food needs work. I know it's been there a while but the lobster tail they claimed to be in my paella was so small it was buried under a thin layer of rice. The flavors weren't there, the seasonal veggies was a joke. 5 stars for ambience and service, food not so great especially at that price point.
