I was surprised that they cut the portion of the food for the afternoon tea to almost HALF. For a $44 afternoon tea, all we got was 2 scones, 2 tiny sandwiches and couple of very tiny cookies. I showed the pictures that I took before to the waitress and she talked to the chef and said that's the way it is now. Cut portion to HALF ! Won't recommend anyone to Xi Shi for the afternoon tea!

The afternoon tea menu is awesome. The mixture of sandwiches tea and desserts on the tea tower is always something to look forward to.

It was very grand. The live piano was too loud. I couldn't hear over my own voice. I rather enjoyed the lounge music which was soothing and more intelligible.

Such a 5 stars hotel, Cook didn't made foods from their heart, provided guest with dried sandwiches and scones dried like cookies. Besides, I have been waited for such foods for half hour.
Waitress (1052, Michelle) provided with poor service, she just leaded me a table some minutes later advised me select a tea on the menu. When food came not introduce each of the food and when I paid my bill. She has mentioned give me the change, yet she didn't, and I have been waiting and waiting until I am about to leave. She said "See you next time". Seems like nothing gonna happened.
Services not professional & that day don't have many guest in lounge.
Do you think have next time?
Poor services with poor foods that I never had in 5 starts hotel.
$46.20 of high tea is worthless!!!

Great experience for my first visit here. We received great guidance through the menu and prompt and courteous service. I'm hoping I can find the time to go back one day.

4 ladies went for high tea, and it was great! All the teas we tried were amazing and the tiered treats were great-the clotted cream is soooo good! The ambiance was nice and quiet and comfy, we didn't want to leave. Our service was great, I'm not sure of her name but she was so helpful and sweet. Will definitely be back.

Ambience was excellent. I would tone it down a bit with the music. At times it was hard to listen to our conversation.

The food and tea selection was very good. The only problem that we all found was the bread for the sandwiches, it was old.

Went back to the Xi Shi Lounge at Shangri La (after not having been there for a couple of years) for afternoon tea to celebrate an 80th birthday and it was as excellent as I remember. Attentive but not cloying service, excellent tea choices and wonderful savoury and sweet items. My guests were impressed and everyone enjoyed themselves.

I went with a few out of town guests, thinking this would be a nice treat. They were also having a face changing and tea kung fu show during afternoon tea time. The price was $44 per person, it came with 4 sandwiches, 2 scones, and a few pastries. We went later in the afternoon to catch the 4PM tea kung fu show. At first I thought it would be nice to have lunch and a show, to make my money's worth. We were seated right next to the entertainer, who also works at the lounge, we got splashed here and there during the 5 min show. Even the table next to us had complained about the water being splashed on them.

The decor and set up was really nice, with nice comfortable seating, not too close to each other. The food was very average, it wasn't anything spectacular. There wasn't much that I would say, "WOW that was so good, I want to come back". For $44 I was expecting something more than average. Cucumber sandwich, smoked salmon on a toasted bagel, egg salad sandwich was very ordinary, and also the same as what I've had at other lower priced afternoon teas in Vancouver. I was expecting more, something out of the ordinary, but there was no twist to the classics. Other afternoon teas I've been to before are even better, much more mouth watering, and less expensive than the one I had at Xi Shi.

It was nice that they asked for any dietary concerns in the beginning, they had swapped out the peanut items with cookies instead. The china they used was very beautiful. The tea was wonderful though. It had a very fragrant smell and it also had a good strong taste. Most flavoured teas I've had smelled great but the taste was very bland. But yet again, $44 for an afternoon tea at Xi Shi, one of the higher priced afternoon teas in Vancouver, was some what disappointing. I went in with a high expectation due to the price point and reputation of the restaurant, and it was disappointing to say the least. The value was not there for the money, even with a show.

I brought a business acquaintance for the Afternoon High Tea and we had such a great time! The food was lovely, the entertainment fantastic and the tea... phenomenal. The service was remarkable. I know I'll find myself recommending the Afternoon High Tea to others.

Meaghan B. was my server. Very knowledgeable and well versed in teas, as well as the afternoon tea menu. Had the Jasmine Green Tea, delicious. Very much enjoyed the food as well. That part of the Afternoon Tea was great.

Ambiance was not comparable to other Shangri-La Hotels. Very small space. Afternoon Tea is held on first floor bar. View was of construction going on in neighboring buildings. Not very nice.

It was a nice experience all together, but having done it, I will go elsewhere next time.

I always enjoy the high tea. I have been a hand ful of times. The food and tea are always great. The service has been impeccable at times as well. The first few times I was here my tea pot never got cold and I also didn't have a chance to fill my cup because there was always one of the attentive staff quick to notice when I needed a refill. Not only was the tea service great but I felt well taken care of, similarly to what I imagine royalty would be treat like. However, the last three times I have been the service has been good but not great, in comparison. I've had to request more hot water for my pot and not once had my cup been filled. The service just wasn't up to the standard of previous visits. These are minor details with a simple fix that had set their tea service apart from others. That being said I would recommend. But please go back to treating your customers like royalty. It was so much fun.

The special kung-fu tea performance was amazing!
Asian themed hightea food items were so-so, not very appealing.
The water for brewing tea was not hot enough therefore our teas were not infused to full flavors.
Service was not very attentive.

Xi Shi Lounge is better than I imagined! Although the price can be high and you may think that the food is not enough, it is actually the opposite! The foods are way more fulfilling than I thought; my friend and I was really full with what it's given. I am definitely coming back with my girls for afternoon tea here. Great atmosphere and great food!

The Emperor's Afternoon Tea was both pleasing to the eye and delectable on the palate. The food was beautifully displayed in its china tower and extremely fresh tasting and delicious, particularly the duck steam buns, the mini bagel with salmon and crème fraiche, and the homemade scones. The scones were the best I have ever tasted in my life! They were moist on the inside with a buttery crunch on the outside, and the raspberry preserves and the clotted cream complimented them excellently. The only disappointment was the egg sandwich; the bread was stale and the filling was nothing special. The overall service was very attentive and friendly, albeit a little slow in the beginning, but that may have been due to the fact that it was early and the restaurant had only recently opened. The same holds true for the live piano playing. The pianist only came on at 1:30 pm. It would have been nice if he had started playing earlier, as it is advertised as such (11:00 am - 5:00pm).

We love to high tea there - food, service and place are very good. I only have a little comment on 25th December. I ordered a half shot coffee of Latte as I cannot drink too much coffee in a day. When I have a zip of the coffee and it was still very strong to me. I requested to keep half coffee of the cup and add more milk instead but turn out....... mmm not good any more. I remembered I been there at first time I did same order of coffee and it was taste very good. Please take the customer request seriously as it makes us come back!

My sister and I are huge fans of afternoon tea and try to find different places that serve this. Xi Shi Lounge was on top of our list to try and I personally wasn't disappointed. The restaurant/lounge is beautiful and the servers were very attentive. Half way through our tea, a live pianist came in and played wonderfully. The food was delicious, however, I thought their ginger loaf could have been less dry and my mom and sister who are both amazing cooks noted that the oil used to fry the spring rolls was a bit old. Otherwise, the tea selection was good, the sparkling wine was excellent and overall, I would love to come back if only for their BBQ duck steamed buns!

The lounge has great small plates: the tuna - amazing; the chile beef skewers.....yum !

We were there early in the evening for a pre-concert nosh.

Much later, the lounge was filled with young people....obviously a hot spot for the wealthy and wealthy wannabees

Tea service was excellent-the food, service, and tea selection. Live piano music added that special touch. I can't say enough good stuff about the service. And the kids selection was perfect and very surprising for a high end location.

The food was tasty, we enjoyed the Asian flavors in the hightea. We had an issue with our server not understanding our orders.

She brought around the wrong tea.
Asked us twice if we wanted two tea settings for hightea. (this is what we were there for, it was in our open table comments)
When we asked for the bill we asked to take home the remaining food she put the food in front of us.
Every time there was an issue we asked the floor manager for service because the communication was so poor.
