X2O Xaviars on the Hudson Ratings and Reviews
X2O did not live up to our expectations today. We have been here many times for brunch and always had a great meal, with great service. Today the service was poor. One of the best parts of the Sunday brunch is the pass around hors doeuvres that generally come while you are waiting for your first course. Our appetizers came first, and then after several minutes we were served one of the passed items. Our main dishes came and still none of the other appetizers reached our table. We asked the bus boy and finally midway through our main course we received 2 others. One item never managed to make it to our table.
There was a problem with one of special entrees (too salty) after several minutes we finally caught the eye of our waiter who did take it and brought another without the sauce that my husband felt hadmade it inedible. The second piece of fish (without the sauce)was rather dry and fishy tasting. The waiter never checked back to see if the replacement was acceptable nor did he notice that almost all of it was left on the plate. Coffee/tea was not replenished until we asked. This was not the level of service we have come to expect from this restaurant and wonder what has changed.
Me, my wife and daughter went for dinner. We had an 8pm reservation, but it was so busy we had to wait till 9:30pm. The staff was friendly and the food was amazing. Cant wait to visit during the day so we can enjoy the views. Try the cowboy rib eye for two!
Glad this long time favorite of ours is still here. Comfortable, beautiful view, wonderful service, reliable and accommodating wait staff all entice us back. We enjoyed beautifully plated and delicious appetizers, entrees and desserts. Unique salad included fruit and cold butternut squash. We look forward to our next visit.
We had the short ribs and the Chinese inspired chicken and they were both delicious. We enjoyed the Oreo dessert and the carrot cake - both were very good. The lighting is beautiful and the water view is beautiful. The service is very attentive and though we were there on a Groupon, there was no noted difference in any element of the service. There is no real noise there either and you can actually hear the music in the background, so there's plenty of ability to hear each other at dinner. Overall, it was great dining experience.
Food is very good and the place is beautiful. I don't understand why they have a huge bussing station right in the middle of the restaurant. You can hear plates and glasses banging around and it definitely takes away from the atmosphere. Otherwise it was a great dinner.
The food is always innovative, delicious, and beautifully presented. The ambiance not so much. I was there on NYE but even during the week on a low key night the commotion level is high in the main dining room. The entrance to the restaurant looks very run down. Not a good first impression. Go for the food and the view.
Once again, Peter Kelly pulls out all stops. Top notch excellently prepared foods, absolutely delicious from start to finish. Fine dining at its best... at reasonable prices. Top notch restaurant at very reasonable prices. Don't have to go to Manhattan for a dining experience like this - without breaking the bank. Amazing views. Fantastic Service. Top Notch Cuisine!
We went for the NYE brunch, which was a prix fixe menu. The cost was a little higher than I saw on open table, but it was well worth it. Great three courses augmented with extra appetizers from the kitchen. The champagne glasses were kept filled, and it was a lovely experience.
We have been coming here for many years. The view at lunch time is outstanding. However, the menu seems to be getting a little tired and the service is much worse than it used to be. They also now charge for valet parking which used to be for free and the attendant were asking for extra tips
When a restaurant makes you feel welcome, with kisses and hugs, great service, superb food and a gorgeous view--up and down the Hudson, it becomes a favorite.
There is nothing on the menu not worth trying and we've tried them all. The seafood crepe appetizer is luscious with huge hunks of crab, scallops and lobster in a lobster sauce--YUM!!
The diver scallops are huge, perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. After a huge dinner, dessert tonight was fresh strawberries and panna cotta with coconut pineapple salsa.
Very special placel--love it!
We enjoyed it, but were disappointed not to find the food more outstanding. It was good, but not great! Also, when making the reservation, I was asked if we were celebrating a special occasion which I said we were - our anniversary. That information was in no way acknowledged when we were there.
Went to X2O on Christmas Eve and had a wonderful time! A prix fixe menu was fabulous; great selections. I had a wonderful loin of venison cooked just right (farm bred in Colorado) and my wife had the chateau briand. Service was impeccable. Unfortunately Chef Kelly was not in the house when we were there so I was unable to congratulate him personally.
A great dinner and a great experience all around.
