X2O Xaviars on the Hudson Ratings and Reviews
We had our office Xmas party there. Had drinks at the Bar first. Dave the bartender was really good. Knew his stuff!!!! We really enjoyed hanging at the bar with him. Will our bus boy was “WONDERFUL”.
So very attentive and his service was unbelievable. We all want to know why he wasn’t the waiter. He totally outshined everyone there. All 8 agreed.
Extremely disappointing......starting with $5 charge for valet parking and then being asked for another tip when car was brought.....
Having two parties, came in after us, seated before me, while I was waiting (we had reservation and arrived on time)....
Welcome desk people have blank stares and do not respond to questions.....
Dinner served at a record fast pace......and then waited a half hour for my check at the end......
The service staff, especially managerial, are totally uncaring and unfriendly.....
Wouldn't go back there, even for free.......and all my friends will hear about it.....BECAUSE THEY ALL ASK.....
Ambience is terrific, but if you are going to be terrific, then you have to excel in all phases, and X2O does not even come close......
We never tire of coming to X2O and are always pleased with the experience. This was a birthday lunch for family. Everyone loved the 3-course prix fixe meal, and I was especially pleased that my duck was cooked, not trendily and inedibly rare as it is almost everywhere else you go. The boys got local beer, and I thought it was cool that the waitperson brought it to them in cans--X2O could be snobby if they wanted to be, but they don't go down that path. Finally, it was quiet enough for conversation, which is important when you're with family members you don't sit down with too frequently. I need to find a way to get to X2O more often.
Excellent as always. The hallmark of X2O is its consistency. We've been coming here regularly since the restaurant opened, and have been a customer of Peter Kelly's for nearly 30 years, and we rarely walk away without having enjoyed an excellent meal, and this was no exception. In actuality, his chocolate torte with a peanut butter frosting may be as good as anything we've had at one of his establishments. From coconut shrimp to risottos, from beef to salmon to the sublime duck confit, it is hard to go wrong.
Spectacular view, even at night. Food was very good, but not memorable. Desserts were disappointing. Service was at best uneven. When we were first seated it was spot on insofar as attentiveness, but as the meal continued we waited longer and longer to get our waiter’s, or anyone else’s, attention. We waited 15-20 minutes after our dinner plates were cleared until a different server finally took our dessert order. Even then my wife’s tea was forgotten about, and it took some time to get anyone’s attention. When it was ultimately served the water was only luke warm, preventing the tea from properly steeping. The Maitre d’ did not come to our table or speak with us until after we had finished our entrees. Finally, when we left the hostess/coat checker was nowhere to be found, resulting in several guests waiting for several minutes until the Maitre d’ finally noticed and sent someone to look for her. At the parking valet I heard several other guests grumbling about “mediocre food” and poor service. While all of the staff were nice something is clearly missing from a system, training or supervision standpoint. My sense was that the Maitre d’ spent too much time acting as just another waiter, or an expeditor, instead of acting like a true Maitre d’ and ensuring that all diners were being properly attended to. The end result was a somewhat disappointing overall experience. Given the prices, it’s hard to justify a return trip.
The service was terrible. They claimed the computers were new but I requested water 3 times, and extra bread twice. When we asked for the bill, we had to wait 20 minutes. The head waiter said he was sorry for the inconvenience but considering this is a 4 star restaurant, I expected coffee or tea on the house for some compensation for the inconvenience. I have been going to X20 for several years. We shall pick another restaurant next year to celebrate our birthdays.
We have eaten at X2O before and, as usual, the food was outstanding. However, the service this time was disappointing. Drinks were not offered for 15 minutes. When a glass of wine was ordered and a request made for a list of bourbons, neither arrived until a request to a maitre d. The drinks arrived 35 minutes after arrival and our dinner order wasn't taken for at least another 15 minutes. Interestingly, as we waited for our car after dinner another repeat patron commented that she, too, felt the service was "off". We do expect to return and hope that part of the experience will be better.
Definitely not the best experience we have had at X20! As usual, the food was delicious, but the service was not up to par tonight. The bus staff were very courteous, and our maitre'd was pleasant, but she seemed to forget about us more than once. Tables around us were seated well after us, were served before us and left before our dessert order was even taken! We had a Groupon for a 3 course meal with Prosecco...it took over 3 hours for us to have dinner. Very disappointed tonight!
I had been looking forward to dining at this Peter Kelly restaurant. I decided to dine for my birthday. Sadly, we were terribly disappointed. The food was SUPER but....service was a headspin. Why if I have a reservation for 6:30pm did I not get seated until 6:55pm? Then the time it took for waiters to provide menu specials, and then...take the orders, then the interim between serving meals....everthing took WAY TOO LONG! Why don't they have the proper number of people serving? It seemed like they were terribly short on staff and while I was trying to be understanding, I was growing more and more frustrated. The poor timing of service has eaten into my opinion of the good food. I will not go back. Sorry Peter Kelly. Need to get this place sorted out properly. VERY POORLY MANAGED
We are frequent visitors to X20 and have never been disappointed. The valet parking is very convenient and reasonable which is nice! The basic menu does not vary much but the specials do an are always interesting. The short ribs and the duck are perennial favorites of ours.
This is another of Peter X. Kelly’s masterpieces in dining. We usually go for dinner but this time tried the pre-fix Sunday brunch which represents exceptional value at $45 for three coursed normally on the lunch and dinner menu with a few more breakfast/brunch type additional choices. Unlimited prosecco and option to make that a Mimosa or Bellini included. At brunch servers also offer “amuse Boucher’s” with the aperatives. We were offered bite size individual baby rack of lamb rib chops, mushroom ravioli prepared a bit like wontons, and golden jumbo coconut shrimp-a lovely touch to have a nibble of the kitchen’s extrodinary cuisine with our prosecco. The dining room was at capacity and as a daytime service, the dining room was quite a bit noisier than what we experience during more leisurely dinner hours. I actually prefer the greater selection of each course at dinner and the quieter atmosphere but this was one of the best brunches I have ever had and I do prefer served brunch to the ubiquitous brunch buffets. Xavier’s is without doubt my favorite restaurant for dinner in this my home area.
Sadly, I have nothing positive to say about our recent brunch experience. Have been to Xaviers x2o numerous times over the years and with rare exception it was excellent. Every entree arrived cold and none looked particularly appetizing. Appetizers were also poor. Overdressed salad and cold tempura. The 4 items that were being passed that day seemed like an afterthought. Some didn't arrive until entree on the table and guess what- cold, hard ravioli just tossed on to bread plate.Inedible coconut shrimp and tuna rolls-also cold. Had to ask several times for the food that was supposedly being passed. Lamb chops looked bad so didn't try them. It's rare that all 6 people at a table are dissatisfied with the food. Desserts were just okay but at least the proseco glasses were filled often. Not sure if I'd ever consider returning.
This was our second visit to the restaurant and it was every bit as good as the first time. We were there with a Groupon and seated at a table with a complete view of the restaurant. The reason I purchased two more Groupons for the restaurant was the great food, value and the service. The wait staff were very attentive (don't refuse the bread refills - out of this world Roquefort blue cheese bread biscuits!) and the menu has something for everyone. We were dressed nicely and there were patrons there in casual and fancy dress enjoying themselves. They are decorated for the season and it's so pretty. We tried two different meals this time (short ribs, salmon) and they were tasty and we were served quickly. Plenty of room between tables so that you're not seated on top of the next table too. The desserts are delicious - try the chocolate cake and the Oreo shake with homemade Oreos on the side. Definitely a place to come back to and this was a great night out.
Have been here on numerous occasions, the food and service is always excellent. Gave 4 stars for service this time because we had 6:30 reservations and it took a little over an hour before we got our appetizers. It was a Tuesday and there was about 7 tables besides us so service should have been a little quicker. But overall no complaints.
Have to just say that X2O was one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in a very long time. In fact, my daughter and I both agreed that the food was way better than Jules Verne in the Eiffel Tower so if you want an amazing meal, look no further than X2O. It’s fantastic!
we were a party of 10. The food was very subpar . I 've been here many times, but this was a real disappointment. The food was really not good. The service was ok, i think they guessed that we were not happy. I would nt return. Very sad to see it go so down hill
Tonight was a very pleasant surprise. I haven’t been there in years because the last time I thought that the food was mediocre and overpriced. However, today exceeded expectations. The food, service and ambiance was first rate. I certainly recommend X2O for a fabulous experience
