Best sushi in San Diego period.

This place is the best. I always get the chefs special roll. Always a one of a kind and never disappoints!!
And our server Amy was awesome!!

This restaurant is one of my all time favorites ! The food is phenomenal and I love how all the rolls are so unique and different . Love the back patio addition and new seating !

The food is exceptional, as was the service. I’m already planning my return. The dragonfly roll was amazing with a great combination of flavors. Everything was very fresh, and plated nicely. Plenty of seating with patios in the front, side, and back. Highly recommend.

I had high expectations because of the high rating for this restaurant. Ordered the following rolls: Chronic, Del Mar, Hedgehog and Dragonfly. Maybe it’s an off night?? The taste was sadly mediocre. We were starving so we still devoured a couple of rolls easy but nothing as exceptional as the 4+ rating.

I LOVE this place under NORMAL circumstances. I always order the Omakase and it is normally a fantastic experience. I love getting the food descriptions from the chef directly. He's a character, and I love it. However, this last time we went, due to covid, they offered the "Omakase - on the run". The selection was great. food tasted amazing as usual, but it simply was not the same. The selections were pre chosen and capped at only 3 courses. I came with an appetite expecting to be fed until i bust, as is the Omakase way. I found my self disappointed and looking for more, which we ordered. I have told literally anyone that will listen about the Traditional Omakase offering here and all about the chef. This time we brought my sister and brother-in-law to experience this, and i feel we were short changed.

We ordered a bunch of rolls and two kids meals. The kids each had a nice plate of salmon and rice but it would have been nice to include some broccoli or other vegetable. The sushi was mediocre and much too rice heavy. We were disappointed by the food but appreciated the friendly service.

Have recently been following on Instagram after seeing they shop Tuna dockside fish market. The food and atmosphere were exceptional and we enjoyed our date night. Looking forward to visiting again when in the area for sure!!!

Was in town and booked this weeks ago.
Looking at their Instagram pics etc I was really looking forward to it.
Husbands chicken ramen noodle dinner was tasty but chicken was dry.
My salmon nigiri was ok, my yellowtail nigiri had no flavor and was cut very thin, wasn’t thrilled at all.
Salmon skin hand roll was good, but substantially more rice than salmon skin.
Tofu cut roll was fair at best.
Won’t return upon moving back to Oceanside, many other options.

Server was excellent. Outside dining on PCH was loud and obnoxious. Food was average.

Amazing food, with some very unique dishes like the swordfish bone marrow shot and vertebrae. Incredible value for the quality and portion size. I would go here everyday to get my sushi fix!

Best. Sushi. Ever. Creative nigiri concepts. I highly recommend going omakase and letting the chefs create some if the best recipes you will ever put on your taste buds.

Incredible food comes out of the kitchen. Plate after plate was curated wonderfully and made the drive from downtown SD so so worth it. The Sculpin special was delicious and the rolls were perfect as well, especially the one topped with truffle!!

It was particularly poor in almost every aspect.
Will not be returning.

LOVE how this place has adapted the outdoor space for COVID. The food was so good that the place could have survived mediocre service, but that was NOT the case. The staff was FANTASTIC, which made the experience 100%. They have great VEGAN options, and the key lime parfait was AMAZING... Great work everyone, keep up the good work!

We celebrated early Valentine’s Day on Wednesday and it was amazing!! We always have nothing but good things to say about Wrench but here we are again saying this was one of the best meals ever! We did the omekase (tasting menu) and we weren’t disappointed. We left happy, full, and smiling! Service was just as good as the food, Quincy made the experience great & Morgan finished our table off and he did too! :) Thanks for making such a special evening!

This is my favorite sushi place in Oce side, the food is fresh and everything I have ordered is a 10 out of 10. I highly recommend this place to anyone that loves good sushi and a great atmosphere.

The service was great, the COVID world ambience was acceptable, though sitting outside was a little chilly ... to the feet. Wife (the seafood eater) definitely appreciated the food and daresay, loved it too.
Me, more of a land-guy, had the chicken noodle dish (Yakisoba?) and found it acceptable. I am not their target crowd, so no hard feelings there.
