WP24 by Wolfgang Puck Ratings and Reviews
Had the Szechuan style beef tenderloin as my main course. It was advertised as coming with fingerling potatoes but they were actually coins or medallions. It would have been nice with a little vegetable as well. Rather skimpy portion, and the flavor of the beef was undetectable because the spicy sauce dominated the dish and was overpowering. Also, the temperature in the restaurant was uncomfortably cool.
Beautifully designed restaurant with unique features & fixtures. The hostess provided a design tour as we walked to our table - she was very eloquent and informative as she pointed out design form and function. The server seemed detached and wasn't exceptionally helpful in describing or 'selling' the menu. A friend of mine with cancer was dining with me and had specific diet questions which the server was ill-informed / uninterested in answering. The bus-boy was excellent and had a personality and showed genuine interest in our dining experience. I'm not a difficult customer, I previously worked in a restaurant and understand the challenges of the job, but I was very disappointed in the service by our waiter. The food was excellent - classic Wolfgang Puck who is innovative, creative and knows how to design a menu. The price / portion was a bit excessive, but nevertheless, it is worth experiencing. I would return to the restaurant - and I would hope to have better service.
The ambiance and service were superb. I was disappointed by the food. The spring rolls were good, the the duck was very bland and extremely oily. I squeezed a piece and oil just drizzled down. The noodles that came with it were good. The vegetable fried rice was good. For desert I had the apple tart tartine and that was not very good. Maybe I didn’t order the right things but I would have expected every dish here to be great
The best thing about WP24 is the view. The food was excellent, but not inspired, and the service was even better. We were lucky and enjoyed our intuitive waitress who spent some of her time with crowd control. We had a wonderful time. There was a very lively bar crowd that spilled over into the dining area every now and then to take 'selfies' in front of the view. I would recommend going only if you are already downtown and parked. It wasn't until we were safely at our table did we relax. Be forewarned that traffic and parking are next to impossible and extremely expensive. Maybe this is the place for a pre-dinner/event drink at the bar.
I came for my birthday with my best friends. I had expected a bit more respect and friendliness from the staff but didn’t receive it. I was disappointed because I had expected more from an upscale restaurant. Sadly won’t be returning here again.
The food was delicious even though the portions were small, and the view was breathtaking.
At a restaurant of this level I expect beautiful platings and the typical small portions. But this was ridiculous I ordered the sashimi and got a total of 6 pieces of sashimi each the size of a sugar cube!! All sorts of disgusting items surrounding it. The Peking duck was soooo greasy and fatty it too was disgusting. The bottle of gruner we ordered was not previously chilled and required 10 minutes of chilling. And this is an Austrian chef. I can go on and on. We were a table of six and ordered almost every recommended item on the menu. Including the 2-lb lobster. All absolutely horrible It was a Thursday night and by 7:30 pm restaurant half filled. Unless they fix the problem they will disappear rapidly. And in case there was a question of my credibility I am an Escoffier graduate. Wolfgang.... visit the place and shape it up.
We came her for the view of downtown, but we enjoyed the experience very much. My girlfriend and I came to celebrate our two year anniversary. The food is great, they offer many varieties of asian cuisine. the noise level is just a little louder than expected... other than that a great experience overall.
Everyone was very nice and friendly and it’s a topnotch venue. Dine LA menu was great! The artichokes with pork belly was a pleasant surprise – very tasty and a good generous serving. Hamachi was good too, the curry was a nice touch. The bone marrow was also good but would have preferred it with a citrusy side salad and wider/flatter toast bread.
Scallops were good, short-rib was good and pork shank was good. Nothing was too salty and just the right amount. Would have been nice to have 3 scallops, however, because we're sharing. Desserts were good! The passion fruit dessert was very well executed and so delicious. Loved the jasmine tea !
We also ordered bao buns, spring rolls and dim sum. Everything was so good and sumptuous – no scrimping on the filling and no “extenders”. What they write down on the menu is what you get. We plan to come back to just eat all dim sum. We are also coming back for the New Year celebration!
This review is based on standards of a fine dining restaurant, which WP24 supposed to be based on price point and venue.
Made reservation thru open table. Never received a call back confirmation call.
Entered the hostess stand on my reservation time. 2 employees where behind the counter, I stated my name and the 2 employees started to discuss about something.
It took them over 3 min to discuss the table situation until they informed me to follow them to the restaurant.
After seated server came up, discussed menu options and drink options.
Wine menu was missing the champagne section and new menu was brought to us.
We asked for the DineLA option which was not giving us automatically and just by request.
The service paid more attention to us after we ordered a champagne for $125, which I think its completely wrong. It doesn’t matter how much money you want to spend, you should give the same hopefully good service to everyone.
Appetizer took 25min, no amuse bouche or petit fours were giving. Food was dropped without explanation, Main courses came out luke warm, server had to ask who is getting what, my wife was served after me all the time.
Some served did not even knew how to carry plates, when they bussed the tables, they stacked the plates with silverware on to each other and as a result the silverware found there way to the floor.
We could not see a manager around at all and they exactly was the vibe in the restaurant. The service staff was in need of direction and guidance.
After we finished our dinner, we went back to the hostess stand, one male host said goodby but the female host, by even seeing us approaching us to the hostess stand, looked at us but decided it was more important to drink from her water bottle that saying good bye .
I am sorry, but this evening was not wat I aspected from a Wolfgang Puck restaurant which is located in the Ritz Carlton.
I hope it was just a night off for the restaurant or we just picked the wrong day (Monday).
Booked here for my bday dinner....View is amazing on the 24th floor looking at the city at night...setting is real nice...Service however was real poor as the waitress seemed to have an attitude all night . I get better service at chik-fila...food was whatever nothing special
