WP Kitchen + Bar - Charlotte Ratings and Reviews
The restaurant is a modern mix of traditional materials. The focus of the restaurant is obviously the bar which you pass by on your way to the dining room. They valet your car (not required) and open the door on your way in. The food quality is very good and the mix of textures and taste you get will fill your pallet, but don’t expect to be full off of the pasta. Burgers, steaks and pizza look to be the best value for the amount of food for your money. Overall a great experience with friendly and attentive staff. I would recommend this for a first date or special occasion with friends.
Once again, I found myself having the same server as in the past. No personality, not very attentive and moderately knowledgeable. I had requested a booth in the front of the restaurant My table was not ready when I arrived and for some reason they would not seat me at either of the open booths adjacent. I had requested one of those so my husband could peek at the sports on the tv. They were having trouble with the remotes so he wasn’t able to catch his team anyway. Poached pear salad was delicious. Octopus app had too much sauce. My husband loved his apple salad.
WP was okay. We made reservations on the Restaurant Week website n it had a 3:45pm and 4pm reservation. We took the 3:45pm. When we were seated, I asked for the Restaurant Week menu. We were told that menu started at 5pm. I looked puzzled and the server went to check. She came back and said they decided to serve us the Restaurant Week menu. From our experience from the front of the restaurant to the seating area, it seemed cold, not welcoming. It seemed that staff was going about their tasks (calling reservations for confirmations, etc), and the people portion was not a priority. I noticed this with certain other customers as well. The food was okay as well.
I said that I would recommend a friend because I loved the mussels. But that's the only reason. I was extremely disappointed with my experience. First the waitress took our appetizer plates to only bring them back. Not sure if that is customary but was a waste of time. Then we sat there for an hour before anything came out (party of 6 including a 10yr old). At the hour mark we asked if they had any bread or something for us while we waited, that came about 8 minutes later... shortly following was the appetizers and then a few minutes later was the main course. It was TERRIBLE! I ordered pizza which is supposed to be one of their specialties (so did 2 other people) mine was burnt. The crust was literally black. They knew this, I would have just fired up another before bringing it to the table. They did make another one but that was under cooked. Everyone at the table was supplied with a refill except me for some reason. I was just simply annoyed at that point and was ready to leave. The manager was really nice about it and took care of everything and was shocked to find out that we had been sitting there for an hour waiting. Beautiful atmosphere, in a really great location, complimentary valet parking. But I don't know if I will return.
We went for restraurant week and had a good time. I ordered Weiner Shnitzel and was disappointed. It was heavily breaded and meat was very dry. (I have had this before at other places so I know what this is supposed to taste like) The potato salad was very good and so was the cucumber salad. Desert was excellent. My friends seem to like their entree so maybe I will try again and order something different.
I had a good time, my server was fantastic. The food was well done but I expected a little more originality or depth of flavor associated with the name. It's more crowded than I expected regarding how close together the tables were placed - perhaps that was just because it was Restaurant Week and they needed to maximize the number of seatings.
My husband and I went for a date night. We were greeted warmly by the hostess and seated almost immediately. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu and helped with our questions. She was attentive without hovering which I appreciate. The manager came by and greeted us as well as asking how we were enjoying our meal and asked if there was anything else we needed. And then there's the food which is impeccable! We started with the grilled Spanish octopus and then I had the skirt steak and both were cooked perfectly. It was a great evening and we will definitely go back!
We seem to forget just how much we love this place. The atmosphere is great. It’s casual yet refined. The food is just scrumptious and service is always spot on. We definitely plan to return on a more regular basis.
We can definitely vouch for the truffled home made potato chips with blue cheese, the amazing apple salad, and the pizzas which have a great thin light and chewy crust. We also tried the rigatoni goat cheese Alfredo with chicken. The pasta was perfectly cooked al dente with the surprisingly light bit flavorful sauce.
Our new favorite restaurant. Took the family (12) for an early holiday Sunday supper. WPK&B did not disappoint. Our server, Christina, was exceptional, very attentive without being a nuisance. The food was delicious (as usual) and graciously accommodated food allergies & special requests. We don’t believe you can get a bad meal here. We will definitely return!
Outstanding again! This restaurant has been our favorite restaurant for a while and the only one we’ve found that’s worth the drive from the Lake Norman area just for the dining experience. You can’t go wrong starting off with the calamari, truffle chips, and/or mussels..the problem is deciding which one! Is a dinner of appetizers a bad thing? This time, surprisingly, no one ordered a pizza (they are out of this world good). Pasta seemed to be the theme as our table ordered the spaghetti & meatballs, turkey bolognese, and the Rigatoni Alfredo. This is the first time we’ve tried a pasta dish at WPK&B..but it definitely won’t be the last! In fact, it’ll be very difficult to consider anything else on our next visit. We shared the apple salad (another first) & made sure to get a doggie bag for the leftovers. The birthday boy had room for dessert and ordered sorbet while another ordered the warm chocolate chip cookies to go. Yumm. The food is absolutely delicious here and the service can’t be beat either. Brittany was very attentive, knowledgeable of the menu, and terrific at helping us work through our challenge of which delicious meal to order. Our only disappointment is she isn’t scheduled to work when we plan to visit next week with our family of 12. However, we are confident Steve, an exceptional hands-on manager, will have everything running smoothly and our server will step in for Brittany without a hitch. In case you’re wondering, we met Steve because he was making sure every diner was satisfied with their dining experience (unlike most restaurant managers who become visible only when called to address a problem). We can’t imagine anyone being disappointed with their dining experience at WPK&B.
Our entrees were excellent. Every ingredient played its part. The wines were half off, allowing us to pair a nice Chardonnay with our meal. It was apparent that this is a neighborhood favorite as we heard different parties greeting each other as they walked to their tables and bar stools.
