The lobster bisque was delicious! Our entrees were tasty and well presented. The food was a good value, but next time we will not ask for brand name liquor in cocktails, as they were over priced. We also didn’t know what the 4 percent surcharge was all about.
Great date spot. By the ocean. The outdoor section has heaters so it’s not very cold.
Wow wow and more wow. Visited previously for breakfast, couldn't wait to try dinner. Potato wrapped sea bass with generous side cesar salad plus lobster bisque and cioppino. Fresh from ocean, prepared very well. Wait staff was impeccable and very friendly. Can't wait to return on next trip to San Diego. Sunset over the ocean was breath-taking.
A regular stop when we have visitors. Nice friendly service and good food.
Good seafood. Large servings. A little noisy. Entrees were served before we had finished our salads.
WE HAD AN OUTSTANDING MEAL AT wORLD fAMOUS. tHE VIEW & ATMOSPHERE WERE SPECTACULAR YET THE STAFF AND THE QUALITY OF FOOD IS WHAT SEALED THE DEAL!
Rustic and loud. Great views. Our server took our order and then was hard to find. Food was outstanding. It took a while to pay the bill because we couldn’t find the server.
The World Famous is a treasure in itself. It has been a part of San Diego for many, many years and I keep coming back and it does not disappoint me.
I feel like there's always a problem with service everytime I come here. I think maybe the manager was serving us at first to help out, but then no one helped us and it seemed like the waitresses serving nearby make it a point to not make eye contact so they don't get stuck with another table. I had to go back inside to ask for help because it seemed like we were forgotten about. It all ended up working out and they tried to make up for the lack of service. Food was good and of course you can't beat the view. I like World Famous, I just wish they'd get their act together and realize they're a team, if a table near where they're serving is obviously not being helped, either help out or let the server for that table know.
Our waitress was terrible. We waited, and waited after we were seated, and I finally had to ask someone to get her.
We did not see her again until after the meal was served by someone else, and then she was literally not in the restaurant after that. I finally asked the manager to get my bill, and I paid him.
She reappeared as we were leaving.
This place is great. Unassuming place with great service and wonderful seafood. I highly recommend this for a special occasion or if you just want excellent seafood.
We have always loved World Famous so I’m going to assume they were having an off night. After we were seated no one served us. After waiting for 30 minutes, we finally flagged down a waitress to place a drink order. I’m guessing they were short-staffed for the evening since our waitress would disappear for 20 minutes at a time. We had a 6pm reservation and were seated promptly but we weren’t served food until 7:30pm. Other tables around us who were seated much later got their food before us. Finally the food was okay, nothing to rave about and a little pricey in my opinion. Not sure we will be returning anytime soon.
Christmas Eve diner with friends. Loved the menu. Food and service were excellent
Ordered the seared ahi salad; basically an overdressed, underseasoned Caesar salad with barely seared ahi (though it was very fresh). Mushroom pasta was very flavorful, but way too salty. Good wine selection.
Had the Halibut. Good but over cooked. Sat outside was nice. Waitress really nice .
Met friends for lunch and Christian provided us with excellent service. We sat and chatted for a long time and were attended to when needed. Cheese steak sandwich and fries were delicious!
Great food, service and views. Will take out of town friends and also will check out dinner next time!
The early bar menu was yummy and just the right amount!
What is better than enjoying great food and drink while watching the surfers catching the perfect wave. Great people watching as the boardwalk is right in front of you. Perfect spot for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Highly recommend.
Even in peak season, make a reservation. Never know what you’ll get.
Get the chowda
Get the lobster blt!
Drinks are tasty and the view is priceless, people watching a plus
I love the views of the boardwalk, but the food is lacking. My husband had a prime rib skillet that was down right awful and it was expensive. I had shrimp pasta and it was very tasty.
Came for a birthday brunch.
Wonderful service and delicious food.
Worst place I have been to in San Diego. The carpet smells, service was very slow and the food was bad.
We had a great time as always. The food never disappoints. Great server, dinner and quality. We had a wonderful celebration for my parents anniversary with water views. The bread pudding dessert took way too long to bring out, but that was the only issue. I wouldn’t get that particular dessert again.
We have been to World Famous many times and it never fails to impress. The food is delicious and there is a great view of the beach (and sunset if you are lucky). They also make great drinks! Love it!
Went, there on our vacation to celebrate fathers day with husband and baby. Ordered the prime rib, filet, and fish and chips, for,my daughter . the food out standing I ate mine and some of hers ha ha .great spot great price
We were hopeful to find a great steak and lobster dinner in San Diego. The food was very good although the fish shaped rolls were hilarious, the onions in the mashed potatoes was odd but the filet and lobster was very good. We had to ask for the drawn butter for the lobster and was told they just brush it on but did bring us some eventually. The place is old, parking is a nightmare even if you try to valet. For a romantic dinner, would NOT recommend. More of a beach grill atmosphere and the inside smells old and stale.
Had dinner on recommendation from a friend, snagged a table right on the patio watching the sunset. Our waitress was super sweet and timely, food was excellent, overall great experience!
We usually love their food! Disappointed this time. Scallops were gritty and pasta we normally get must have had msg in it this time cuz my sis was ill after eating
Great location and food, service was excellent!!! Highly recommended.
We dine here everytime we come to San Diego about 3 to 4 times a year. We look forward to your restaurant. We are always greeted with smiles and friendly service. However, this time, we didn't feel that. A different hostess ip front was not as friendly as all the other times. But, the rest of the experience was excellent as usual.
Not a place for vegans. They need to wash their windows.
World Famous is one of the few restaurants in San Diego that is right on the beach. Nice variety of dishes and great bloody marys!
You come here for the view - simply stunning to watch the sunset and the surfers catching the waves. Food was also very good.
World Famous is a favorite. We arrived 15 minutes early for our 5:30 reservation. The valet parking is a plus in busy Pacific Beach! Our wait to be seated seemed unnecessary since there were plenty of seats and wait staff, and we were seated at 5:30. The bar stools offered for the wait were too high for my 90 year old relative so we stood. Not customer focused. Hence only four stars. The food was delicious and generous. Great service!
The view was spectacular. The food was superb! The service very good! The tables were good size but the wood seats on the patio where we sat are a little uncomfortable. But that won't stop us from going back or taking friends there. We had a good time!!! The valet parking is an excellent value and convenience.
People rave about this place but I thought the food was just ok...not a light fish place, everything was bacony and mac and cheese creamy. I am used to Calif food that is served lighter. Service was excellent. On the beach but basic concrete and flimsy tables. $26 entrees so expensive...our bill for 2 was $140 with drinks and appetizers.
Location Location Location decent food decent servers
Great location, good food, really affordable for where it is and the quality.
