Reliably good food, ambiance. But always a long wait if you don't book ahead
Woodmont Grill is always consistently fantastic! They recently added sushi to their menu which is a great addition to their already superb menu. The live jazz and low lighting make for the perfect atmosphere! See you again soon!
My wife and I had a good time here since we miss the great days of Houstons. The live jazz was fantastic, and the hostess took the necessary time to get us a seat in less than we expected (since it was very busy). The waitress was friendly, and the food was good. If you are a person that wants to take your date out for the night, this will be a perfect place to take them.
A wonderful meal, as always. The pan-seared cod was fantastic!
Went for lunch; nice American menu, good salads, excellent service. So crowded...hard to find parking if you arrive after 11:45, but that's common for Bethesda. Plan ahead and definitely make a reservation.
Amazing food as always, very courteous service.
Food and service great as always. Would suggest making a reservation on the weekend.
Second time we visited and turned out to be outstanding again. Table was ready at reservation time, great food and service. We will be back.
I love Woodmont grill, best restaurant ever!! The food is always great and the service is always to the T
Marie took care of us , what a great experience. The food was plentiful and delicious.
Overall fine and would go again. Beer menu was limited for this area and not reflective of local talent.. I.e. Jailbreak, etc. Also, I expect at least a few fun mocktails for the designated driver -- server was not familiar with the term.
Unfortunately we still had to wait 45 minutes eventhough we had a reservation.
Woodmont Grill is a favorite of mine for any occasion. Food and service excellent and most important consistent time after time. Enjoy!
My favorite restaurant.
Great place! Been there two times so far on business lunches and it hasn't failed. the service is very good too.
I always enjoy coming to Woodmont Grill formally known as Houston's. This past Saturday restaurant was quite packed upon arrival, I was glad I made a reservation. However, even with the reservation we waited for about 25 minutes to be seated. Once seated the service was excellent.
We waited 20 minutes for a table even with a reservation. Disappointed!
2) The crab cakes I ordered that was priced over 30. Dollars had shells in it. Unacceptable!
3) Best part was the Chocolate brownie dessert with ice cream 🍨!

I really like the food at Woodmont Grill. However, the person in charge of parking was no help whatsoever, and copped an attitude when anyone asked him a question about parking. Why employee a parking attendant then? Also, the hostesses were somewhat put off by our arrival. Our waitress was wonderful, though. The front of the house and the outside need some help.
I can remember the Woodmont Grill from years ago when it was Houstons. They still serve a similar Grilled Chicken Salad and the Spinach & Artichoke Dip - my 2 favorites. The food continues the streak of - high quality, freshly prepared and served hot - satisfaction. The service is outstanding and highly efficient. The live jazz is a welcome and charming addition to the ambiance. The wine list is extensive and diverse. I only caution that the food and drink prices are high. Overall, Woodmont Grill is a great place to enjoy a high quality meal on any given day or for a special occasion - either way you will leave feeling that you have indulged yourself.
Excellent food quality and terrific service. Nice seasonal changes in the menu always provide interesting new takes on traditional dishes.
Woodmont Grill is my current favorite restaurant in the local area. They provide an exceptional atmosphere and a dining offering consistent with the atmosphere. I drive an hour specifically for the roasted (bone in)prime rib, which is truly amazing...However, on this occasion as with a previous occasion they ran out of the bone in roasted prime rib so my experience was not the normal exeptional service i have become accustomed to. Seems to me like poor planning on someones part because our reservation was for 7:45 pm and by the time we were seated and ordered they were out of that offering (which, as noted above, was not the first time this has happened), which is my sole purpose for making the trip. There are other options but all others pale in comparison. They have also recently altered their menu and some of the favorites are no longer offered, which was another disappointment. The gold rush libation is an exceptional adult drink offering. IMO they had a menu that complimented the inviting atmosphere so to change a formula that works can be the beginning of the end of what, to this point, has been an awesome dining experience at the Woodmont Grill AND my endeavor to identify the next great restaurant with a similar winning formula, without compromising service, quality, and/or product offering.
Those hostess and bartender were short and not friendly. The food and drinks were great as well as our server.
The staff was very polite and our waitress was so kind. The only negative is that they don't take Discover. Other than that I had a really great experience.
Solid American fare that's just creative enough to keep it interesting while still appealing to just about everyone. Portions are more than reasonable; drinks are generous (though my Manhattan was a bit underwhelming). Midway through drinking our cocktails, the staff brought over freshly chilled glasses and poured our drinks into them--a very nice touch. We had two of the special cod, which was good, if unexciting. The Thai steak salad justly deserves its reputation. A tad too sweet and not quite spicy enough for me, but I'd happily eat it again. Plenty of nice chunks of steak, avocado, and mango. All a good ¾ to 1 cubic inch each. And we had the prime rib. This had to be well over a pound, pushing two. Cooked perfectly to medium rare.
There's nothing faddish about Woodmont Grill. It's a very solid, reliable place that keeps things interesting without going overboard. When you're done, you think back and realize, that really was just what I wanted. It's Barack Obama as opposed to, say, well, lots of people.
Great food and service!
Woodmont Grill is always an awesome awesome treat for my family and I. Its our favorite spot and we've been coming for years. It was Houston's when we first visited and I wouldn't change anything about it!!! Kudos to the Woodmont Grill!! Awesome all around!!!
Non-flexible rules. I asked for romain lettuce for the gelled chicken salad and I went thru 3 people until they finally accommodated me. The ones in Atlanta and Orlando are much friendlier and flexible.
Overall excellent dining experience. Beautiful interior decor & atmosphere.
Have been coming to this restaurant since they opened in the early 90's. Used to live three buildings down at Bethesda Place. Was called Houston's for the majority of its time in Bethesda. Basically the same menu and if I remember correctly, same ownership is still in place.
While the food is still very good, the pricing has become almost ridiculous for the portion that you receive. The Spinich and Artichoke dip ramekin bowl is smaller and seems to have less of the Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese in it yet the price is double what it used to be.
I orderd the chicken tender platter which, while not on the menu, they still make upon request. Less tenders then the last time I ordered it....maybe a year or two back....and less fries. Did not ask the price before I ordered as I figured should be around the same as the cheeseburger, which I usually get, at $18 or so.
Got the bill. $27. Are you friggen' kidding me??
Unfortunately, this will most likely be the last time we dine here. Too many other restaurants in the Bethesda area that offer a similar menu with decent portions at the same or lower price.
Really is a shame as the food and service remains top notch. The pricing, again, is the deal breaker......
Excellent food, and the attendant was very good, but pricey.
Food is reliably excellent each time we come. Though a little pricey, it's worth it when the food is as delicious as it is at Woodson's.
The steak was amazing and the wine was very good, but the restaurant seemed a bit crowded and had poor customer service. The server didn't seem genuine and ran around/disappeared in a few seconds so we found that rude. Plus other servers came to our table, kept offering to take our plates, and we felt like they were rushing us. For paying a lot for dinner, we didn't appreciate that at all and it was neither nice nor elegant service. This rushing hurts the ambience and customer service of this restaurant.
Had a wonderful dinner at Woodmont Grill. Service and food were fabulous. Many great food choices... Healthy or hearty. Will plan on dining there again!
Overall my dining experience was great! Nick B. was our server he did a great job, he was friendly, he checked back periodically to see how we were doing. I even had a couple questions about a item on the menu, he didn't hesitate to fully explain. The cocktails were great!Made with a kick that definitely snuck up on us. The food was even better! My ONLY complaint was that I made an 8:30pm reservation. We checked in at about 8:27pm & the host said she still had 8:15 pm reservations to seat. Almost 15 mins went by & we still had not been seated. It wasn't until my date walked over to the host booth & asked had we been called did we actually get seated. I found that quite pointless to make reservations & still have to wait. Aside from that my experience at Woodmont was very good!
The menu is short but exceptionally creative. The grilled artichokes are to die for but not often available. Service is outstanding; servers are very well trained, fast, and polite.
We has a wonderful lunch at the
Woodmont Grill- the food was absolutely delicious, the server was fantastic-very helpful yet did not rush us at all- and we three friends had a most enjoyable time. It was a great experience. My only complaint- and this applies to all restaurants who practice this- is not seating anyone until the entire party arrives. Three or four people standing around waiting for the friend who is stuck in traffic when they could be seated and enjoying a cocktail or appetizer does not make much sense to me. I know the restaurant wants to turn over tables , but the time is just tacked on at the end. Let your customers sit and order something. One other complaint is LOUD music in the restaurant. We were grateful that, when we mentioned this to the server, she was able to have the music turned down to a comfortable level. We appreciated that response. This is not a knock on the Woodmont Grill- it was a super place to have lunch- just an general observation.
The food is good but does not warrant the prices charged.
Fantastic experience-- had the spinach and artichoke dip, "loaded baked potato, skillet beans, and best veggie burger on the planet. Service is always exceptional-- most professional waitstaff going -- a true collaborative effort and a well-oiled hospitality machine. This place is always a favorite. Highly recommended; never disappoints.
amazing food and service! This was my fiancé's first time at the restaurant and he's already looking forward to another visit!
I received a gift card and the restaurant came highly recommended. I truly enjoyed the rotisserie chicken. I will definitely dine there again.
