Woodman Lodge Ratings and Reviews
Made a Valentine's dinner reservation and had no indication that the menu would be limited and how very limited it would be. Venison tartar? Sorry, not my thing. We left and went to North Bend Bar & Grill. They had a Valentine's Day menu, a Specials menu and the regular menu. Seem the Woodsman is run by amateurs like a hobby, not a business. Second negative experience in a row.
The food was delicious but we were handcuffed to the three options to eat. We went for Valentine’s Day and was disappointed with the limited menu for the day. It was understandable because of the occasion, but we were expecting the regular menu, and only became aware of the special menu when we were sat. We could’ve left, but chose to stay since we made the reservation. My steak came on a bed of chili which I did not like, wished the chili came in a side bowl. It was all delicious as I said, but not what I was wanting or expecting. I love the venue and the service was awesome! I will be back for sure in hopes to eat their regular menu!
The food and service were excellent. We went for Valentine's Day, and had the rib eye and the surf and turf from their special Valentine's Day menu. Both were excellently prepared and flavored. Would definitely go back (we've been going back several times).
Crowded accommodations, but very friendly wait staff. My burger was At least cooked per my request. My wife’s steak was a very large portion, and she said it tasted good. But if you order it cooked to medium well, it will likely actually come out medium at best. So order accordingly. Very historic setting. So they deliver on that easily. Parking nearby can be a challenge when they are busy. But you can walk there from the parking lot near the river park.
After my last visit with the rude waiter and average food, I was hesitant to come back. But because they've been great before, I presumed that visit was an anomaly. I was right.
On this visit, the food for all 3 of us was spot on perfect! Service, although a bit slow, as friendly and attentive.
They've changed their menu and website recently. And it appears they've made changes to their waitstaff and kitchen as well. They've definitely improved their Bearnaise sauce too.
I was nervous to give them another try, but I'm glad I did!
I've been to the Woodman several times, but this time the food wasn't quite as good as it has been in the past. The prime rib was overcooked and rather tough. Everything else was good, though. Some sound deadening materials would really help. The old pressed tin ceiling tiles are neat, but they reflect a lot of sound, plus you tend to get a lot of dish clatter from the serving/kitchen area. Probably would be better for a small group so you wouldn't get the table closest to the kitchen.
In large groups, it is so noisy it is difficult to carry on a conversation.
Good steaks, though...
Great, authentic steakhouse with an old west feel. It’s dimly lit, and the clientele is a little less dressed for the occasion than you’d expect for the price and service you get. I enjoyed the player piano and our wait staff was top-notch, my only negative was the other patrons and not on the restaurant. I can’t wait to try it again.
Food is spectacular as always. Started with the roasted artichoke (amazing) we both had the petite filet for entree and finished with the lava cake and ice cream... delicious!! Always a great experience. We were seated upstairs this time... not as cozy as downstairs. It’s more like an open bar room. Going forward I will always ask to be seated downstairs.
The charcuterie platter was made of low quality pepperoni and salami and only two types of of cheeses; neither of which was memorable. The prime rib was made to order; however, the fries with it were cold. The mussels where just OK. We'll not be returning to this establishment.
New Years Eve Dinner. The wait staff made us feel very rushed, it was obvious that they wanted to flip the tables as soon as possible. But, coming to the table every couple of minutes to ask if they could clear plates we were still eating from was very annoying. The four of us had different cuts of steak, I chose the Ribeye. The exterior crust on the Ribeye was awesome, the interior was however cold and tough. Not what I expected from a Steak House.
Our family has dined at the Woodman Lodge on many occasions and we have always had a great experience. The quality of the food is always exceptional - a consistent dining experience. The wait staff is courteous, friendly, and professional. Dining in a historic building with such a great past adds to this unique dining experience. I would highly recommend the Woodman Lodge and the beautiful drive getting there.
Sadly, This was our third and last visit at a restaurant that is a few miles from our home. Nothing went well this time, as the previous 2 times. The first thing that came was our cold entries. Then the warm white wine. Then salads after one of us ordered soup and the restaurant ran out of soup. We made reservations for Thanksgiving a month in advance specifying one guest to be dairy free. I understand holiday meals with food allergies sometimes require substitutions at extra cost. There’s was no offer of substitution, so one meal was less than 50% of the food and the same price with no offered substitution. One of us finished dinner at home after spending $75 on a meal at a fine dining establishment. Poor service, poor food, and poor handling of diners.
I had heard great things and so was very surprised at the Thanksgiving dinner we were served. We all had prime rib which was good. The ice cream scoop shaped mash potatoes were cold in center. Stuffing scoop was too mushy. 4 asparagus stalks for vegetables. Plate was hot so the cranberry sauce was melting through rest of food.
It was not the menu that was online, when I searched....which had lots more choices. There was apple pie and pumpkin pie as dessert choices. Soup or salad for starter.
We ordered a certain wine. We did not pay attention when he brought it. Turned out to be $20 more than one we ordered.
During middle of dinner, a bus boy went by and said..."oh, you did not get your bread" . By then we did not need it.
it was okay but not a $58 per person meal.
Another couple leaving when we did, loudly exclaimed it was worst Thanksgiving food they ever had
Thank you Opentable for the last minute Thanksgiving dinner suggestion in my email.
We drove up to Snoqualmie and had a blast! This was the most perfect way to celebrate thanksgiving with friends. The food was delicious, the service was awesome, the decor was cozy. Would do it again in a heartbeat!
I discovered the Woodsman during an internet search of the area. My husband and I were spending a vacation in the area and we were so lucky to find this gem of a restaurant. I enjoyed the atmosphere it felt like we had discovered a real local favorite. We had steak for dinner generously portioned and a luscious chocolate chip cookie baked in a skillet with vanilla ice-cream.
