The Mushrooms were amazing, my French onion soup was delish, proving that you don't need beef broth to make a wonderful onion soup. My Fish entree was great and my girlfriend's vegetarian entree was great for her. she also VERY MUCH appreciates a restaurant that will go out of the way to print a separate vegetarian menu. Cheesecake dessert not so great and I personally found it a bit warm (temperature)
Overall it scores high and is worth going back to again
Woodlot was perfect to celebrate my graduation. The starters and pastas were AMAZING! I would definitely recommend the grougeres (but definitely to share!) and the sweet corn agnolotti. The table was less excited about the roast chop of pork. Overall, it was warm and inviting with great service.
Just a heads up, there are a few steps down to the washrooms and a full flight of stairs up to the main dining area so it’s not very accessible if you have mobility limitations.
I liked that they had a lot of vegetarian options. Nice ambience. Food was good but not exceptional. Service was very slow and apparently they had some new staff on so that may have been an issue. We called to let them know we would be 10 mins late and got the lecture about the table needing to be vacated by a certain hour, which i thought was crappy and not very service oriented. And then because it took them over an hour to get us our appetizers, it made a nice evening a little stressful as i was wondering if they would kick us out at said time. Cool spot that i would go back to again despite the mediocre first experience.
I found this place while I was looking for a cool place to celebrate our second anniversary and it looked like it would be great - and we were not disappointed! We are both vegetarians, so it was good to know that it had a good vegetarian menu on top of its regular menu.
The restaurant is just south of college on Palmerston with a very unassuming entrance when the patio is closed as it was on this cold night.
As soon as we stepped in the door we knew that we would have a great time as it was a nice, warm atmosphere and we were met with the great aroma of the huge wood burning oven. We had a nice little table up in the seating area on the second floor that overlooks the oven and kitchen area.
Our hostess/server was very friendly and wished us a happy anniversary, which we had indicated through the reservation. She made a nice wine recommendation for my girlfriend and we started with the French Onion Soup (which was probably the best we've ever tasted!) and the Hen o' the woods mushroom appetizer, which was also incredibly tasty.
Our mains were the stuffed pumpkin and a very savoury pasta dish that was just perfect for the Autumn weather.
For dessert we had the petite fours - also quite wonderful.
The ambience was nice though a person at the table next to us was constantly using the flashlight on their cellphone to read the menu, which was a little distracting - but they do keep the lights very low.
I can not say enough about this place - we will definitely be returning! Highly Recommended!!
Food was exceptional as always! Delicious wine. We happened to go on a night that they were serving a party of 15 so it took quite some time for our food to be made. The upstairs was quite drafty and chilly even when the front door was cold. Bring a long sleeve or sweater!
Great Food & Great service! One caution: You can't be in a hurry as the courses do take a bit of extra time but worth the wait. I loved by fish and hubbie loved the pork. Fritters are incredible! I could take or leave the sides - a lot of mayo on both beans and potato salad (of course) which was perhaps why these weren't my favorite - but still tasted good.

I think you’d be hard pressed to find a restaurant that offers better service, food, drinks and ambience in Toronto. Absolutely reasonable prices for the calibre of food and service.
Great for couples and dates. Not great for big groups or young families.
Lots of veggie options too, if that’s your thing. And some of the best wood fired bread in the city!
I went with my vegan friend. Disappointed there was not more vegan selection.
It was SO NOISY we could hardly talk.
I had the tomato galette which was all pastry and very little heirloom tomato.
The hen and chicken mushroom starter was the bright note of the evening.

They had me of course with the woodfired oven. Very good selection of vegetarian food. Some classic would oven specialties and nice countrified atmosphere. They were nice enough to turn down the tunes which were rather loud when we came in . Good selection of wines and a really nice place to go especially if you're not in a hurry as service can be a little laid back which was fine with us.
Presentation was very nice, but flavour was lacking and overall combination of ingredients wasn't working. Had the stuffed pumpkin and hen of the woods starter. Wine selection was very good, and the bread was to die for. Service was less than desireable. Could be my take on dining, but it felt a bit kitschy... maybe I'm too traditional and more prefer straightforward dishes. Would likely not revisit, other than for that gorgeous bread.
It really is a gem of a place. The food was great I loved they had a separate Vegetarian menu. The service was good lost a star as the starter arrived before the drinks even though the drinks were ordered first. The ambience was nice and romantic but it was a little too dark and tables were really close together which made it a bit noisy but overall definatley worth a visit.... we will definatley go back!!!
Woodlot was great. We visited as part of a company retreat, having a range of dietary restrictions (someone that was vegan, someone that was plant-based, someone visiting from Thailand, and someone that loves meat). All of our interested were taken care of, and everyone was extremely satisfied with their meal. I was happy to see most of the vegetable lovers menu was feasible for vegans, this made my coworker extremely happy, so did the roasted mushrooms.
I always have a wonderful time at Woodlot! As a vegetarian it's such a treat to go out to a non-vegetarian specific restaurant and still enjoy a satisfying, fantastic meal! The wine list is everything I want in life, the pacing is perfect, the service is always authentic and warm. Wow, really such a lovely evening!
While visiting Toronto, The Woodlot was recommended by friends who live there and have deemed this as one of their faves in the city! I can certainly see why! The food was delicious and the service was great. Would go back again on our next visit to Toronto!
We loved the food, especially the absolutely delicious vegetable dishes. Service was friendly and professional. Volume seemed a bit high but we could still chat easily. Lighting was a bit too dark -- I used my phone to read the menu and to get a better look at my food. Also, the open windows on a cool September night made it uncomfortably cold. Overall, a bit pricey but worth the expense.
We went to Woodlot to celebrate our friend getting married and everyone enjoyed everything about the restaurant. The food was fantastic, service was great, and we also had a vegan at our table and she was so happy to find some things on the menu.
Overall, we would go back again. I had been there once and remembered it to be a very good experience, so I suggested Woodlot for this dinner.
