We offer both a meat and vegetarian version of our menu, with lots of cooking done over open fire. Vegan and most dietary restrictions happily accommodated.
The whole experience made us very happy. Woodlot is a very special place.
Absolutely loved Woodlot! Food was amazing, great atmosphere, incredible service and really versatile menu-both seat eaters and vegetarian menu. Highly recommend!
Lovely food as usual but the very small portion size for the relative price continues to be a deterrent to coming more often. In fact this time we had to feed our out of town guests a few snacks at home afterwards as every one was still hungry. Wonderful atmosphere but this time the staff all seemed pretty disinterested in us (restaurant was only 50% full)...had to ask for the appropriate utensil, only one brief stop at our table, and was ignored at the front door for a weirdly prolonged period as the hostess did something on the computer. No smiles from any staff....just a downer night I guess.
Nice cozy spot with good cocktails and great service.
The place seem clean and very cozy, people were friendly. However, what I was looking for which was a wow factor (food) was a total fail. My wife was not happy with the taste or the fact that pasta was undercooked! It was a but disappointing since I really thought that I had finally found a new place I can recommend to all my friends since they all asked about my experience. Also, prices are too expensive for the sizes of servings and the choices are too little.
Excellent experience, Food is phenomenal can't wait to go back.
Really excellent seasonal menu with well curated vegetarian and vegan options (including dessert that isn't just sorbet!). The wine and beverage offerings are also great with a focus on "natural" wines.
I love this place! As a vegetarian it’s really nice to have several delicious options to choose from. Highly recommend!!
We had a lovely night at Woodlot for our tenth anniversary. We were after an excellent and low-key night, and the wonderful team at the restaurant delivered precisely what we were looking for. The onion soup was fantastic, as were the pork chop and chicken/ham hock pot pie we ordered. Lots of great bottles to choose from on the wine list as well. We’ll definitely be back.
Only one negative and people should be aware before they dine in order to dress appropriately as it’s easily mitigated if you know about it... it was really warm in the restaurant due to the wood oven they have. If you take that into consideration you’ll love it.
From the day Woodlot opened it has been one of my favourite restaurants in Toronto. I tend to go for early dinners and that means I can often get a table with a short notice reservation. The patio in summer is excellent people-watching. The food is always 100%. The staff are highly engaged in the ins and outs of the restaurant adding to the first rate service and feeling that you are somewhere where everyone really cares about food and dining. Can't say enough good things about Woodlot.
This is my third visit to Woodlot, and it was even better this time. The warm ambiance is unmatched in the city. Our server was attentive and made us feel special. Great signature cocktails and excellent food. I absolutely love the whole design of this place with the huge wood oven that the dining area overlooks. And my favourite thing I haven’t seen anywhere else is that there is an entirely separate vegetarian menu they give vegetarians. Not just a few choices on a single meat-focused menu. Hurray for everything that makes Woodlot so special!!
Delicious food, great service and the natural wine menu is great!
Great resto- love that they have a separate vegetarian menu! I also really enjoyed the cocktails- all game of thrones themed!
We were very pleased withour meal and the excellent, friendly service. We had one person who was on a vegan diet and they were very accomodating with her requirements. As a result she really enjoyed her meal. We plan on coming to Woodlot again in the future.
Always great here.
I always get the French onion soup and one of the pastas. They just weren't as good as usual this time but I will be back. Still love this place.
We were visiting Toronto and after reading the reviews we decided to try Woodlot. Overall it was good, they had inventive dishes, had plenty of vegetarian options and the service was great. I have to say as far as value goes I wasn't impressed, the food was good but portions were rather small and not the culinary experience I was looking forward to. For the price we will probably try something else next time we visit the wonderful city of Toronto.
I've eaten here before a number of years ago and loved it then and I loved it again. The first thing that strikes you is the smell of the restaurant when you enter. A mix of good cooking and wood stove. It makes you want to tuck in and enjoy a cozy delicious meal. My friend had the pork which was gorgeous and she ate every bite right down to the wood platter! I had the Rye, little ear pasta with Ragu. Delicious. Interesting cocktails and wines by the glass which I asked the server to choose for me. Our server was excellent, attentive and we had a lovely chat as we were preparing to leave. I'll go again.
Although the food was good, our server was rude and this unfortunately took away from our overall experience.
We have been to the restaurant a few times before. The pot pie was just okay - felt the food wasn’t up to par as compared to prior visits especially given the price point of the menu.
Food was good but portions were small and quite expensive.
Great restaurant - we are from Northern Ontario and walking into Woodlot transported us back to the north with its wood, rustic interior; the smell of firewood and cozy atmosphere. The service was very good ( Edward is amazing) and the food was an explosion of flavours in your mouth. Although the menu is limited, you know immediately (when eating) that the meals are made with natural ingredients and you don't feel stuffed and tired after eating- its obvious there's no preservatives in their food.
The only compliant we would have ( and only because we are all guilty of over eating!) is the portions were a little small for the price.
Will definitely go back - this is a neighbourhood gem.
Must try the smoked onion soup - the best I've ever tasted.
I had decided to book a table for my boyfriend's birthday as I had had heard many good things about this establishment in the past.
My boyfriend and I were very excited as we rarely go on fancy dinner nights like these. Unfortunately we were quite disappointed. The food was ok, the onion soup was good but my cappelletti dish basically just tasted like orange zest so overall we were not impressed by the food. This would have less mattered if the service had been great, indeed, it did not live up to our expectations: our server, an older man was dull and cleary looked like he didn't want to be there. Honestly we didn't ask for much, a smile or two would have been very welcome.
I understand that sometimes working in a restaurant can be very hard but we were easy customers, and in a high-end establishment like Woodlot a great service should be mandatory. I think it is important to remind yourself sometimes that a lot of people come here for special occasions and don't necessarily make a lot of money but are ready to spend money because it is supposed to be worth it and therefore expect to live an amazing experience. The hostess though, was very nice and welcoming.
Went for my partner's birthday. Great option as they have a separate veg menu with plenty of vegan options for me.
Food is without a doubt some of the best in the city, and perfectly executed. The Hen of the Woods dish is a favourite of ours.
The drink menu is wonderfully curated, and my partner was ecstatic about the glass of Pearl Morrissette wine she had been wanting to try. She was ecstatic about the whole matter, really.
Above all, the service really made it. All the staff were lovely, but our server really cared, and was extremely well-informed about anything we asked of him. Great, personable service.
Oh, and the bread. I had to stop myself from snacking on it so I could still have room for dinner.
Amazing food and service! A warm inviting place. Skilled chef and staff, cool decor. One felt welcomed in their restaurant. My date and I had amazing food l, cool beverages, and sweet deserts! All superb.
This is my absolute favourite restaurant in all of Toronto! I love it because I've never been let down by Woodlot and the experience is so consistent, from wonderful service to a fantastic food/drink menu. Try the pork loin and definitely order a bottle of cider!
The appetizers I had, pear celeriac salad and mushroom wild rice, were fabulous. Great balance of flavors and textures, I was wishing for more. I should have tried the other entrees, as I thought the chicken pie was average. And the vegan chocolate dessert was inedible, sour, either horribly flavored or expired, but at least they took it off the bill. Server was nice. Ambiance is quite intimate, as the dining room was small yet fully seated, on the second floor overlooking the first floor where the open kitchen was - a nice view, except for the slow moving cooks that made it confusing as to why everyone's dishes took an hour to arrive. Not that the wait mattered, just why show an open kitchen of a few cooks who don't move with passion and urgency? Overall dinner was a positive experience.
Disaster. Seated at a ledge facing a brick wall with stench of chlorine from the kitchen. Zero service.
Generally good. Service a little slow. Food a little cold. Will go back.
Can’t recommend this place enough! Thank you for an amazing dinner.
I love Woodlot forever. Used to just be a special occasions spot for me but I've managed to make it more frequent than that. Great service, great food, great wine, great vibe.
Enjoyed a lovely birthday dinner at Woodlot. Everything our group tasted was delicious. Especially the steak and the pork. The portions aren't big but all the dishes are all high quality.
Took 45 mins for our Apps.
Waitress was nice.
Space was cramped (we were by the main coat rack).
Heirloom Tomato Salad was small and bland.
French onion soup portion was fine. Flavor ok/nothing special.
VG Farms Bavette Steak was very tasty, portion size average.
Butternut Squash Stuffed Red Fife Cappelletti. Again, nothing amazing. Don't do half size, you'll be hungry.
Go to place for a romantic date. Love their food. Very knowledgeable staff
Wonderful food great knowledgeable staff.
We had an excellent late dinner at Woodlot. I would definitely recommend for the area.
Amazing gem in the middle of Little Italy! Great ambiance and food.
Original and delicious flavour combinations, supported by excellent service. The "Hen of the Woods" appetizer was memorable, and the pork was juicy and well-flavoured. Service is helpful and friendly without being obsequious. Great evening.
As always, delicious food and great service at Woodlot. The steak was particularly scrumptious this time. I had never had dessert before, but the two we tried were worth it!
