The view was spectacular. The restaurant was not very busy, so it was quiet and relaxing.
We ate there for the Saturday Brunch. The food was good, although maybe some cheese and cured meats would be a nice addition. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience and reasonably priced. I recommend it.
We celebrated an anniversary with another couple and had a wonderful time. Staff was friendly and attentive. Food was top notch.
Unfortunately they did not have the Breakfast Buffet due to lack of people in the hotel. the omelette was a little dry but tasty. Coffee is great. Window view is outstanding. Expensive.
The atmosphere was very nice. A large gas fireplace was burning and a live band was playing oldies music. The appetizers, meals and dessert were all delicious . There were 4 tables occupied on this Wednesday evening and it was very quiet so we were a little disappointed when the waiter said they “ran out” of olives for a martini, asked if we were ready to look at a dessert menu when he already delivered our dessert and had to be reminded of our after dinner drinks that we ordered . We have eaten here several times and can give it 5 stars but this night only 4 starts for simple mistakes that should not happen.
On the expensive side but is okay for the occasional event.
Brunch was excellent as always. Hostess is very friendly. Waitress was attentive and very pleasant.
Every time we walk into Horizons we are treated as though we have been friends and family with the staff since the beginning of time. So polite, so funny to spend time with, drinks made to order and the food is so delicious, we make it our yearly pre Xmas date before the holidays begin. Then we make sure we get back in the summer for dinner to enjoy the beauty of the beautiful outdoor scenery and have a delicious dinner again. Planning on making more trips and perhaps an overnight this coming 2019.
Greatest staff in any restaurant I have been in, coupled with great food and relaxation.
Happy New Year
Old school charm, amazing views, impeccable service, outstanding menu. Band started playing towards the end of the meal....nice touch. The bar was lots of 40-50 year olds, restaurant was older groups and younger couples. Pricey but worth it, the pork chops and the fruit de mer were OUTSTANDING!
Very short staffed. They were slow or forgot things. Food was great thou.
Fun evening with family at this holiday time. Good food, live music, comfortable seating, a range of food choices so everyone can have what they want and need. We were there after dark, so no view, but when the sun is up, the view is great. Service was good.
Horizons restaurant at the Woodcliff has always been a favorite spot for my husband and me for dinner. I went for lunch with a friend the other day, and it missed the mark- we had a reservation but waited 10 minutes for a table, the sandwich I ordered was so-so, my drink was watery, but the waitress was fabulous!!!
Generally, our group of seven women enjoyed our luncheon and we would return. Two comments:
-the dining room was busy and the server seemed stressed. Never asked if any of us wanted a beverage other than water at the beginning of service.
-food comment: several of us had the chicken salad croissant. While tasty, we all felt that the portion was meager especially in comparison to our fellow diners gigantic club sandwiches. Go figure!
Great spot, beautiful view, excellent service. Nice menu selections
We had a wonderful time from beginning to end. We were hosting friends from Syracuse who had not dined at Horizons previously. The holiday decorations were beautiful, to begin. My request for a table near the window was honored, and the new dining chairs are very comfortable. Our server, Andrew could not have been better. He was attentive but not intrusive. The food was wonderful, and we all had different dishes. With room for dessert, which was also excellent. There was music, which was loud enough to enjoy but did not intrude on the conversation. We were the last diners to leave shortly after 11:00. Well done.
It was a beautiful location and the staff was friendly and professional. My only complaint is that the food was overpriced. There was live jazz music that was fantastic and not too loud. The hotel/restaurant is located on the highest point in the Rochester area so the view is astounding.
I was so looking forward to our Anniversary lunch because I always remember the magnificent floral display in the lobby. What a dissapoitment! Instead a shabby yellow pointsetia greeted us. The dining room was always decorated with lovely boughs as well. Not anymore.
A first class Hotel must make a statement of exquisite taste at first glance!
Our fried haddock was very tiny as well it appeared to be cut in half. In years past I always looked forward to a "doggie bag" as a reminder of your generosity.
Our next anniversary its back to adult portions elsewhere.
This was an early business meeting which required a quiet table in a corner of the restaurant with enough room for breakfast, laptops, etc. The staff was more than accommodating. We were very pleased with our meeting experience at Horizons.
Great service, but the food was severely overcooked. Had AHI tuna ordered rare. It was served medium well and we had to send it back. It was good on second effort but two of the four meals we ordered had to be sent back.
Horizons never lets us down, ever. Service ambience and food quality is extremely consistent.
our server was exceptional . food was outstanding (as usual).
My chicken breast was mostly fatty. I could deal with the bone but the fat was another issue. The side of mushrooms was $8 and thrown on my plate on the sauce for the chicken. I expected a side plate to share. it was perhaps 1-2 mushrooms worth of mushroom. Far too expensive for the quality or size delivered. We skipped dessert after being disappointment by two of our three meals. (the Salmon was good)
We went to Woodcliff for my sons 22nd birthday. It was a great choice. There was live music and it was perfect for the background. Our server Andrew was awesome! His timing was perfect, never felt rushed or forgotten and he was great with recommendations and made great conversation with the table.
Our food was fantastic. We all had something different, steak, fish, chicken and more and everything was tasty.
We enjoyed sitting by the fireplace and it was a perfect evening for our family.
We will be back again....very soon!!
We go every year to celebrate anniversary.
Our server Heather was great!
Went to Horizons on 10/22/2018. I had informed them of very important celebration we were having when I made my reservations for 2. I asked for a nice table with a view. When we got there, there were 4 tables in the entire dining area. Despite that, we were seated at a two-top BEHIND another 2 TOP with a view of the side sidewalk and then I guess we were to flip a coin to see which ONE of us got to enjoy the view, in the basically empty dining room. When I set my hand down on the table to my right, crumbs stuck to my hand. We were moved to another table roughly 15 mins of informing our waitress of the crumbs and our initial request. We ordered the lobster bisque ($16 each). It came out lukewarm at VERY best. We were there to try to have fun. We rolled with it hoping it was a fluke. We were VERY wrong. Because it was a special occasion, my husband asked for the “special whiskey" list. We were told that a couple of the items were not available, but my husband ordered one of the available bourbons to enjoy with the Delmonico steak he ordered. Our food came out about the same temperature of the bisque. My dinner was a scallop and pasta special that had been left out under the heat lamps so long the pasta had that dried, coagulated appearance when sticking out of the sauce. My husband's steak, although ordered "medium" came out on the rare side of medium rare. It was red inside NOT pink. At this point we are informed the bourbon he ordered was not available and after roughly 15-20 mins, a substitute was provided, after he was over half way through his meal. I didn't even eat half my dinner. At that point all we wanted to do is leave. Everything was terrible and to be honest, I have had better dining experiences at Smashburger. The food was cooked properly, served warm and the tables were cleaner. That dining room used to be far busier than it was Monday. I guess others are figuring out it is not even worth it. Smashburger is basically across the ST.
Food was alright, and we had to wait 30 mins for a table even after we made a reservation. The view is totally worth it though.
More choices - better prices. Jason is one of the best in the area!
After a delicious lunch with our group of 7 ladies, we did not feel at all rushed to leave. We were able to sit and enjoy the outdoor scenery and were able to relax and enjoy our conversations. Probably over-stayed our welcome, but no one hinted that our time was up! Always a pleasure visiting Horizon's at Woodcliff. Thank you all!
Always enjoy having lunch at Horizons at the Woodcliff when in Rochester.
Food has been excellent every time we’ve gone. Much better than you’d expect for a hotel restaurant.
Lovely view and upscale dining atmosphere. Food was good but not great. Our server was abrupt and did not add to a pleasant experience.
Sitting by the window in their comfy chairs is just great. Food is always delicious and waitress was great. It is truly our favorite restaurant
What we enjoyed most about our lunch was our company. The food was ok....my cob salad was not exceptonal. The sevice was attentive, albeit a bit pushy given that the room was not full, but for the price, overall, it was just not extraordiary. And given the location, it should have ben.
We're in town for a Conference, and this was our second breakfast there. Both times, the buffet was fantastic, and the food fresh and well prepared.
The service was lacking. We were the first ones there both times, and had to refill our coffee ourselves. Our server was busy chatting with other staff both times, and different servers each time.
Food was amazing, salad was so fresh and steak and scallops were cooked to perfection. Our server Jason was friendly and knowledgeable. We had a sunset view and enjoyed a relaxed dinner atmosphere.
I told the restaurant that we only had an hour for lunch.
Ten minutes after arriving, they took my order. I ordered a rose wine.
They were out of my preferred rose wine. It took 10 minutes for thhem to tell me.
I ordered a different rose bottle. Fifteen minutes later they brought me a riesling (!)
Fifteen minutes after that they informed me that they didn't have the second rose.
By this point we had nearly finished our lunch and only had 10 minutes left. "Are you sure you don't want a different bottle, sir?"
As we left, I suggested to our maitre d' that the restaurant might update the wine list. "It is up to date," he replied. "We should have those wines in within a few weeks!
By the way, at no point did any of the staff apologize.
Dining room was freezing cold. The catfish sandwich was way way to salty. Service was just ok.
Amazing Anniversary dinner. Excellent menu choices, no corkage fee on Sundays. Steaks, seafood was delicious. Our table of four had no complaints. Great service, nice leisurely pace.
Great service,...nice, colorful presentation of entrees....specialty dessert (coconut, berry cake) SPECIAL!
Quiet atmosphere with nice spacing between tables.
All around great evening
The occasion was a visit by my sister and her husband. My wife and son joined us.
Our meal was superb and enjoyed by all! Our visitors were impressed by the view
of the surrounding area!
Service was unobtrusive, yet very efficient so I left a generous tip.
I already have plans to visit Horizons for Thanksgiving!
