We started with the crab cake which was really amazing. Then had the bet salad which was fantastic. Both entrées were Excellentthe OssoBuco and they 6 ounce filet. The chocolate mousse and flourless chocolate cake we’re out of this world.
Woodcliff is fantastic. The food was excellent with large portions. I had Veal Osso Bucco which was extremely tender, along with perfectly cooked asparagus. My date had Georges Bank Sea Scallops with mushrooms, which were perfectly cooked and large and delicious. The atmosphere can't be beat with a scenic view of the Rochester landscape, and wonderful comfy chairs. Service was impeccable.
We always leave very pleased with our meal. The service was excellent. We look forward to going back soon!
Unfortunately the chef doesn’t know how to cook a protein.
Food was delicious and the restaurant was cozy for a romantic dinner !
My wife and I had the Sunday brunch.
Great service from our server; Chuck. Food selection and quality was awesome/excellent. Quantity was replaced as soon as depleted a bit. Piano soloist was excellent and added a very nice ambiance. The brunch valve equation was a 10 out of 10.
The Brussels sprouts were a little overdone and I’d rather have them pan fried in a little oil and some crusty Parmesan or something savory. They were kinda just mushy and bland.
Our waiter was friendly but not attentive. Did not check on our entrees and they arrived lukewarm. By the time he came back we were halfway through. I had a core from the iceberg lettuce in my wedge salad! No excuse for that.
Service was good. Nothing was done for anniversary. I ordered steat that should have been med well and was well done. Soup was bland and steak was very tough, Partners salmon was just "ok". No drinks or desert and bill was over $100. Would NOT recommend this place to anyone. Go to Outback or some other chain for steak. Actually we went to Max'x chophouse wee before and the food was OUTSTANDING and the bill was less money!!
Service was exceptional and prompt. Waiter and support personnel were friendly.
I was disappointed as I had checked your inter net menu and saw crab sandwhich on the menu but when i got to the restaurant it was not on your menu, I don;t think your menu is a healthy one and would suggest adding a couple fish entrees on lunch menu, like the crab sandwhich and or a shrimp type dish. The food was excellent, just a limited choice for lunch, I don't know why you asked if it was a special occasion -- i did indicate it was a birthday luncheon but there was no acknowledgement that we were celebrating a birthday -- actual two birthdays.
The service was outstanding. This was my first time here and I had a great experience.
I cannot blame the service entirely on the staff as they were very short staffed that evening.
It took 25 minutes to receive our drinks. My Tom Collins was made wrong and my wife’s drink has multiple bugs in it.
The apps were ok but the main dishes were left to be desired. Essentially I received gummy and super salty mashed potatoes, boiled brussel sprouts, and a fatty, not well trimmed Delmonico steak.
The clientele was a bit on the older side that evening in the restaurant so I am assuming they are catering to those tastes.
It’s not the late 90s and early 2000’s anymore. This hotel and restaurant has failed to keep up with the times, unfortunately. I really wished I could have submitted a better review. I could have spent $50 less and had an amazing meal with drinks and desserts at Branca, five minutes down the road. I am hoping we can maybe try again.
long time customer. Food was just Ok this time for lunch. Waitress was terrible. Didn't tell us specials, didn't ask if we want coffee or desert and just going through the motions. If this was my first time I might decide not to return
Completely unprepared for Christmas dinner. there seemed to have been a problem with their reservation system so they were not expecting many hungry guests with confirmed reservations. The waiter was great. The hostess was working three jobs to keep things moving, but the manager seemed exhausted and not very conciliatory.
Great Christmas Brunch , and nice Piano, Great for Christmas
Way too busy and understaffed for holiday crowd. Food good but a bit pricey. Poor communication in trying to get reservations. Called several times and no one returned my call
I took my Mom for Christmas Eve dinner as her big gift from me. We waited well over an hour for the first course, soup. The food was nothing special. The service was terrible. We were there almost two hours by the time we got the majority of our food. Very disappointed.
We have dined at Horizons many times. Usually on a special occasion... Christmas Eve, Anniversary, Mothers Day etc. and usually the food is good! However on this occasion, only one of two dinners were acceptable. My wife had a $56.00 Filet which was cooked to what she asked for (medium) but it was dry and chewy. Very chewy. My wife didn't say anything until I had a couple pieces of her steak. I told the waitress and she was very nice. She also was a very good waitress. She got the manager and we told him what the problem was and we told him we weren't looking for an adjustment of the bill but that the chef should be notified about the quality of the steak. We are accustomed to quality food at Horizons.... not on this occasion. Even though we didn't want an adjustment of the bill the manager should have offered out of courtesy a drink for the unacceptable steak on this special occasion. ( Christmas Eve) We were (I) was disappointed because it was MY wife's food!
We ate on Dec 23rd, arriving at 6:45. 35 minutes passed before a drink was brought to the table. The food was generally very good: the crab cake appetizer was excellent, the wedge salad was good, and the lamb rack was excellent. The vegetables attendant to the lamb were uninspired and flat: mashed potatoes and brussels sprouts. Dessert, the house special cake with peanut butter filling, was mediocre. The ambiance is very nice, but once the band started, conversation became difficult. The wait staff, totaling two, was overwhelmed, but it was Dec 23rd, and we were grateful they were working. All-in-all, a bit of a mixed result.
We have always enjoyed Woodcliff, but this close to the holidays, they had overbooked and service was quite slow to get started.
The service was stupendously bad! Food was strictly mediocre! Would have been happy to pay the VERY expensive prices for excellent food and service. However, we didn't get either. The band was terrific, though.
Beautiful view and wonderful food made a great holiday lunch
The ambiance and food were wonderful. Our. Waiter was great. Nice evening
The waiter was great. The ambiance was wonderful. Unfortunately, my mashed potatoes were only slightly warm and getting hard. My husbands whole meal was actually cold (the lamb with mashed potatoes). The only thing we can think of is that there was a large party and our meals sat for a while. We were a bit disappointed.
We had to wait 20 minutes to be seated after 6 which was our reservation. Soup was terrible but rest of our meals were very good. None of us could eat the soup as it was too spicy. Nothing was offered as a substitute
Staff was very attentive and the food was pretty good.
View from the window table was beautiful. Food and service were top notch
Good service, interesting menu, scenic view.
Service was not great. The cheesecake was old and dry, and the waiter never brought the requested drink. Probably would not return or recommend.
Restaurant is beautiful, food is pricy but good. Staff was no where to be found we were there for 2hrs 30mins and only say the waitress 4x. She was very friendly but no drink refills even offered.
Love the Sunday brunch. We have done this brunch for almost 17 years.
My salmon and my wife's halibut were excellently prepared. The serving size left enough room for dessert, even after we had started with the excellent lobster bisque. Desserts were good, but pricey ($16 for a slice of the multi-layered peanut butter cake with chocolate). Service was by two waiters - one swift and efficient, and one slower. The non-wait staff stepped in to fill our wine glasses and ask how we were enjoying the meal. The view was beautiful of the setting sun.
Restaurant facility is really nicely done. The view especially at sunset is spectacular. The food and overall service is okay, nothing to write home about, just okay. Due to food and service being just okay, I would have to say that pricing is too high.
Food was very good and the updated menu was interesting keep up the good work
Not as good as on prior occasions. Service was terribly slow- we had to wait 25 minutes for our bill and credit card to be picked up and only then when I flagged down another server. The food came fairly quickly, but two of us had salads of very small proportions, given the prices. I will return for the view and convenience to my work place, but service needs to be improved.
The lobster bisque was excellent as always. A larger portion would be nice. The mashed potatoes were tasteless. The steak was very good and cooked correctly. The vegetable choices were poor. The service was good but not a great as usual. This is a great restaurant, just a bit overpriced and lacking in menu depth and originality.
Not good for older people with walkers. Need handicap bathroom! Very disappointed in that lack of detail.
Always a great choice - whether for drinks or small plates at the bar or for full dinner in the dining room. Best view of sunset in Rochester.
