Waited at the bar for 15 mins after reservation until our table was ready. Bartender was cool. Place was busy on a Thursday. Got a shared appetizer. And then nothing. We were at our table for 1.5 hours with no entrees. We left with them boxed to go. Didn't eat dinner there.
New favorite restaurant! I would actually travel to the east coast just to eat here again! What a find!
Disappointed that they could not make traditional drinks because they don't carry certain liquors (e.g. tequila) and don't have citrix liquids. We wanted to order an appetizer when we finally placed our drink order and the server said she would wait and take the appetizer order at the same time as our dinner order because it would take 30 to 40 minutes to prepare the dinners, and this was a Tuesday night when the restaurant had about 1/3 of the tables empty. Dessert menu did not include any chocolate options. Valet parking was a joke - you drive past the restaurant to a parking lot where they park your car within a hundred feet, you then walk to the restaurant and walk back to the parking lot after your meal to have a valet walk less than a hundred feet to your car to drive it to you. There is no reason this parking lot could not have been self parking. The food was good, but there were too many other disappointments so we will not be back.
As NYers we are spoiled with many fabulous restaurants but any time we are in Baltimore we try to have a meal at WK! It is among the best of the best anywhere!
We came from DC for a special birthday celebration, we were so excited to try this place. Restaurant was very crowded and we waited 30 minutes to be seated for our 12:30 reservation. (We had arrived early at 12:15, so we actually waited 45 minutes). We kept being told that our table was just finishing up and we were going to be seated "super soon." Meanwhile, kids (2 and 5) were getting antsy and people who came in after us were getting seated before us. After I complained the server offered the kids donuts that came right when we were sitting down. They were happy but it kind of ruined the birthday because we ended up having to cancel our afternoon plans. I would recommend planning better so that people with reservations could be seated on time. I was told that we were seated late because some people came late due to traffic. (They brought me a birthday ice cream, which was nice, but I don't eat ice cream.).
Service was phenomenal! Food was good, especially for a busy Saturday night.
Female bar tender was the best!!
I know I'm supposed to love Woodberry Kitchen, with its gavitas, its farm-to-table ethic, its atmosphere, its urban hipster vibe. To me its just a little pretentious, as if they are selling the vibe more than the actual tastiness of the food. The bill can quickly get to be fairly breathtaking for Baltimore, and in terms of dollars-per-ounce or dollars-per-calorie, well, Woodberry belongs in DC or New York City.
People who have a palate for unusual culinary adventures (e.g., my wife) will and do love Woodberry Kitchen. People with palates hungering for traditional, recognizable favorites or comfort food (e.g., my college-aged daughter) will find frustration bordering on disappointment. People looking for a blend but with some sense of value (e.g., me) will leave feeling sated but also feeling that there are better (and certainly more economical) choices.
Wonderful waitress and the food was impeccable
The food was great and we enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant. The staff at the front had a warm welcome. The service was a bit odd. We ordered an appetizer that came after our meals, my husband asked for an espresso, and the waiter gave us our check and ran the card, said “thank you”, and then the espresso came to the table. It was all very odd. I had received a call to confirm our reservation and was asked what the occasion was for our visit. I told the person on the phone we were celebrating my husband’s birthday, but not sure why I was asked. Again, just a little odd. Everything else was great as we have never been to Woodberry and loved the look and feel of the restaurant.
This is one of the finest restaurants I have eaten at. From decor to vibe to staff...just lovely. A very nice wine list and great conversation about local wines led us to discover a Gruner / Viognier blend from Maryland that was outstanding! We had a two course brunch, with a side of housemade scrapple...everything....every thing... was delicious. Wonderful to see the ideal of supporting local farmers and purveyors actualize into such a perfect reality.
Went here for my birthday. Amazing service & very accommodating. This restaurant has great rustic and modern design and it was a fun place. The outdoor seating was lovely. Highly recommend!
Excellent service and selection of local food options. Ask about items on menu and receive an education on their origin. :)
Woodberry Kitchen is an amazing restaurant. Their menu is updated daily to reflect what local ingredients are available. I have Celiac's, and was thrilled by the fact that they have an entire gluten-free menu available. When I mentioned my allergy to our waiter, he even brought a gluten-free biscuit to our table. Overall, the food and drinks were fantastic, and I will definitely be returning.
2nd time and just as good. Great food, great wine, wish I lived closer.
Wonderful setting inside of a restored 19th Century flour mill. Woodberry's farm to table approach makes their menu selections a delight to sample. Main course servings were fine, even requiring some in our party to take home uneaten portions. Their knowledgeable wait staff and sommelier made our business meeting an enjoyable event. A surprisingly plentiful wine menu. You won't be disappointed with your experience.
Food was not as good as expected from past experience. Descriptions were over the top and just did not deliver. Combinations of ingredients and flavors seemed more complicated than delicious.
The restaurant has always been attentive to seating us in areas that we request when making the reservation. we really appreciate this. -- We always get the crab pot, my salad was
very well made and the steaks were well prepared- potatoes gratin that came with the steak
was delicious. Very attentive service.
Awesome experience! I requested a window table for a little more privacy because it was our anniversary. We received the best service. Thee staff made our dinner so special. We received a free appetizer and a chocolate decorated note on our dessert plate for our anniversary which also had a bonus dip of sherbet. NOT to MENTION the FOOD was SPECTACULAR! We felt special..it was the perfect setting and evening. Thank you!
We have eaten at Woodberry Kitchen perhaps five times over the years. We were both disappointed in our Sunday evening birthday dinner. While we applaud the locally-sourced approach, we find it prescious and annoying that you won’t provide lemon, yet will serve coffee. It seems arbitrary. We each had two dishes, none of which made our taste buds jump off our tongues. As a good home cook, I thought I could do better myself, for far less money. The kitchen was “backed up”, causing the wait staff to come to apologize to us for the wait, and it wasn’t even that busy: there were empty tables. Had the food been better, the wait would have been irrelevant. Maybe it was just a bad night.
Food was excellent. Service a bit slow but courteous. Very noisy venue.
I love this restaurant. Most of the food was excellent and the service too. The corn bread was superb. My only minor issue was that I ordered one of the flat breads and the eggs were semi raw. I like runny eggs, but these were too runny for my taste. I was surprised I was not asked how I liked the eggs. The rest of the flat bread was delicious. A bit pricey for a brunch also. $200 with tip for 4, one cocktail each.
Great service. However my steak was not to good! A lot of fat. My server didn’t offer anything off our bill.
This place is crazy good. The menu has all the things u would ever want. Love the atmosphere and the wait staff is excellent. My wife and I went on a date this past Saturday. The food was out of this world, we also had the best waiter of our life-Livingston.
The food was extremely salty. Everything we ordered was over salted. The Bloody Mary mix is tasteless - was almost transparent in color - pinkish. Won’t go back - seems like a lot of hype for just a mediocre restaurant.
As always, a pleasure to dine at Woodberry Kitchen. Loved that the valet was back by the entrance. A reasonable crowd for brunch and a great new mixed drink. We shall return for another special occasion soon.
The best part was absolutely the service, so accommodating, attentive, and just nice. They stoaked a fire for us repeatedly because it kept going out, then brought blankets for our shoulders. You can't beat the ambience. Set in an old industrial neighborhood from a former factory (I think) with a beautiful outdoor patio. Lit with hanging lights, candlelit tables, and multiple fire pits. The food was a close third. Everything was very good, but wish the flash fried veggies toppings on my fish were more seasoned. We had the Trout, NY Strip, Meatballs, Oyster Soup, and Deviled Eggs. The deviled eggs were my favorite. Will be back again!
I've heard a lot of great things about Woodberry Kitchen and decided to go for my boyfriend's birthday celebration. We were both blown away by the service and the food. The hostess was very friendly and helpful and our waiter gave great suggestions on food and drinks. I look forward to going back and would highly suggest!
Food was delicious and service was great! Cocktail menu is creative and interesting.
Our meatballs were spicy although we asked and they said they wouldn’t be so take note.
Maybe not kid friendly.
The food is outstanding, all across the menu--this is well-known--but I also want to add that the service was also excellent. Casual and friendly, knowledgable about the food and beverages, and also very accommodating for my small party that started outside and then moved inside.
Excellent service and excellent food. Always a pleasure to dine here!
Woodberry is an uncommonly good restaurant - creative menu, great locally and regionally sourced foods, wonderful setting. Hope they don't try to create too many iterations and offshoots trying to "push" the brand too far. Do what you do so well!
Thursday night dinner was great, as usual. Food and service were great. There was a mistake on the menu so the dish I got didn't exactly match the description. The food was so good I didn't notice until the waiter pointed it out with apologies and offered me a free side of my choice. They handled the flub very well.
I was very impressed with the service. Everyone was very friendly and helpful and the food
was excellent and very different from most restaurants. Made the dining experience very enjoyable. We were celebrating a birthday and the candle and ice cream was a very special treat. We will be coming again.
Some of the best food in Maryland, creative fresh and mouth watering. Service is amazing, waiters are very informative and enthusiastic and its a foodie gold mine.
Great food- quality and variety. Staff was friendly/helpful/knowledgeable about farm-to-table aspect - seemed to love their work!
Awesome staff and local food. Food is fresh and different.
Food choices today weren’t the best but CMP and apple pie left us leaving happy!
We tried a variety of dishes including the veggie tart, rockfish hush puppies, popcorn, meatballs, flatbread, potatoes au gratin, and everything was excellent. For dessert, we tried the sorghum toffee cake and buckwheat honey tart with a French Press and cappuccino. The ambiance was lovely, and we look forward to returning for brunch.
My girlfriend and I came here for Easter, we were seated promptly and the server; Jerome, came to our table right away. Jerome was very helpful when it came to the menu. My girlfriend wasn't sure what drink she wanted and gave Jerome a general profile of what she wanted and Jerome delivered on his selection! Overall a very nice night at Woodberry Kitchen.
