We enjoyed the entire experience. We were early for our reservation but they seated us anyway, upstairs. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food was exceptional. We had baked clams, fresh oysters, kitchen pickles, crab cake, potatoes au gratin, and the special: duck on dirty rice. The pickles were a pleasant surprise, a variety of vegetables, each seemingly pickled differently. The duck was done perfectly and the little bits of liver in the rice really added to the texture and flavor. We wouldn’t do the apple pie dessert again: crust to filling ratio was off for us with too much crust. But the sorbet was refreshing and packed with flavor. The ginger is especially concentrated so if you are not devoted to ginger it might be too strong. The apple and the cranberry made me hum in happiness. The staff recommended a great beer to go with the duck, “Maude” I think. The wine list seemed pretty extensive, but as a beer drinker I would have liked more choices. There are a lot of good local breweries they could use. Tables are close together, and we enjoyed chatting with those close to us, but not everyone may like having other diners so close. Even though we were packed in fairly tight, the accoustics allowed for easy conversation, and we didn’t feel that we could be overheard by others unless we wanted to. Prices are on the expensive side, but the food and the experience made it a good value. We were using a gift card so that may color our view of the cost. Driving there was a bit confusing, so use the website for directions.

I throughly enjoyed the restaurant and the atmosphere. I was looking for a new and fun place to take my parents on their 30th anniversary. I was disappointed in the food quality and portions. The servers seemed more interested in clearing the dishes then providing us with more bread or crackers. I’m pretty sure they just wanted to get to the next table in and out.
One of my main issues was that I had 2 main dishes in mind to order that night and they were sold out of both. So I settled for what I thought/told was second if not third best on the menu. I was not impressed! My father and I were both disappointed we could not order the NY strip or the Rock fish since we put in a reservation b4 7:15 and did not get seated till 8. I’m sorry but I expected more for the money spent.
I appreciate the service and the great atmosphere but in a possible future visit i hope for a better experience.

Best of Luck

Years ago I would have told anyone that Woodberry Kitchen was absolutely the best restaurant in Baltimore. The last couple times I've been however it was quite a disappointment so I decided to give it one more try and again, didn't live up to the hype. I made reservations a month out and we were seated 30 minutes after our reservation time. The small plates (hot and cold) and flatbreads were ok. We all got desserts which are all way over priced and no one liked their desserts that much. Wine and beer selection was good. I was really hoping it would knock my socks off like it did about 8 years ago but I unfortunately the food just isnt that good anymore and its way over priced.

Service was a bit slow. We were seated at 7:30pm and we still hadn't ordered 45 minutes later. However, the food was very good, when it arrived, and we had a nice time. The chicken liver started was amazing. I had the tavern steak, which was very good too. We were among colleagues, celebrating a difficult day at work which ended very well, as well as a colleague's birthday. We got a nice treat at the end to acknowledge the occasion.

This is quite simply the best restaurant experience I have ever had, after 20 years of traveling to business meetings across the country and eating at all kinds of places. If you are in the Baltimore area, do not miss this. The food is beyond excellent. The barn-like ambiance is wonderful. We brought business clients and they were out of their mind with the food and experience. All at a very reasonable cost. I will not ever go to Baltimore again without going to Woodberry's

We had a great meal at Woodberry Kitchen. The appetizers - crab pot, chicken liver and beef dumplings - were all terrific. Our entrees were equally good - trout, pork chop, chicken and biscuits, crab cake. Service as always was very attentive. We had a late party member but it never seemed to matter to our server. (If it did, she didn't let it show.) I really appreciated her patience.

The food is always fantastic. Spike is a genius. Live the locally sourced ingredients.

I have one problem with this restaurant.
Every single time I have eaten here I have made a reservation and every time I show up for that time, I am made to wait for a table. On Sunday evening we were not seated until over an half an hour after our reservation. As I have previously worked as a hostess in a fine dining establishment, know this to be unacceptable. It would be different if it were ten or fifteen minutes, but over a half hour is very inconvenient and doesn't engender positive relationships between patrons and the front of house.

The food tends to make up for it, but for the prices, it would be nice if they comped our first round of drinks or an appetizer, or something for the inconvenience.

Even an apology or acknowledgement of the situation would have been nice. Neither of those things were offered.

The chicken and biscuits was delicious, but the biscuits were much smaller than when I've previously ordered this meal.

The duck ravioli was out of this world.

great food and service. five of us shared fried oysters, roasted garlic, spicy cheese, deviled eggs, meatballs, the crab pot, chicken and biscuit, strip steak, dirty rice rockfish, rabbit rigatoni and a verity of drinks and desserts. everything was wonderful and I can't wait to get back.

Our waiter, Patrick, was absolutely phenomenal. He really knows how to make a table feel special. The trout was overcooked, and in lieu of a part of a dish left off because of an allergen, no alternative side was offered and we still paid the same price. We will come again, but next time will be sure to ask about sides being left off and what alternatives are available, or a discount.

Disappointed after a spectacular first trip to Woodberry Kitchen to wait a half hour despite a reservation. Also disappointed that they had run out of bloody mary mix by 1pm. Coffee was less flavorful than I would expect.

Food was still quite good.

Took an out of town friend here today for the first time ever and we had a fantastic time. We were seated upstairs, which we loved, and got the donut and corn bread to start with. Donut wasn't the best, but we enjoyed the corn bread. Breakfast was delicious, and the waiters were very attentive. I would definitely recommend this restaurant, it was very scenic.

This was my 4th visit to Woodberry, but first for brunch. No surprises -- impeccable food, fantastic food service, a little too noisy (energetic per Open Table is not the right adjective), and a wait for the table although reservations were made well in advance. That's the reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 stars on service. The staff is fantastic but managing reservations lacks, especially after they confirm the time and party ahead of time. A free pop-tart and crumb cake are nice but do not make up for the 30 minute wait for a reservation.

This was our second visit to Woodberry Kitchen. My husband and I love the food and the atmosphere. I had a delicious cocktail called Gold Dust, and my husband and I shared the crab pot as an appetizer and then enjoyed our entrees. Everything was delicious. I have 2 complaints, however: I made a reservation for 9:00, and we arrived right on time (despite having a confused Uber driver), but we weren't seated until almost 9:30. Luckily we got seats at the bar while we waited. The other issue: when I made the Open Table reservation, I received a confirmation email letting me know that someone from the restaurant would call the day before our reservation to confirm. The email also stated that if it was a special occasion, I should let them know. It was my husband's 50th birthday, so I told the person on the phone, and she said she'd make a note of it. However, the night of our dinner no one mentioned it at all. I didn't expect all the servers to gather around our table and sing Happy Birthday, but I thought someone might at least mention it. If you indicate to your customers that a special occasion will be acknowledged in some way, you should follow through.

Wonderful as always. The bread was chewy and flavorful, the popcorn startlingly good, the flatbreads fabulous, and the neighboring table tolerant of my kids’ and my game of Candyland.

They noted my dietary restrictions and allergies from my previous visits. The server came to the table with recommendations based on my dietary restrictions when we arrived. Each plate came out with a note that the food was prepared with my allergy in mind. This is a level of service I have not received at another other restaurant. The food was exceptional and the service was fantastic.

We had a nice family meal but were both disappointed by our entrees -- the crab cake was good, not great, and not too much meat included. The sides were meager and not that filling -- for the price, we were disappointed. My husband had the special short ribs that tasted fine but I did not have the discerning palate to understand how good it was supposed to be. For 34 bucks, it seems it should be a bit more of a wow experience. It tasted like good pot roast! The kids were happy with their meatballs, fried potatoes, and salads. The flatbread was actually the very best thing we ate -- oh and the apple tartine dessert. For such a hyped establishment, we came away satisfied but not overly impressed.

We had 1:45pm brunch reservations. My friend asked for a mimosa and was told that they don't have orange juice because there are no orange trees near Baltimore...,ok. There is also not locally sourced coffee or tea- but they were still available. Although that was ridiculously pretentious I would not be writing this review if that was all that happened. We ate our brunch - the restaurant around us cleared out but was by no means empty. We paid our check (and gave our tips) and then the waitress came an took away our water glasses - this was just an extra 10 minutes after we paid our check. We weren't holding up a table and we weren't the only ones in the restaurant. It was so rude. I won't need to go back anytime soon.

Food was delicious. We waited as a party of four 15 mins past our reservation time for a table. It was not crowded there but they seemed to be short of servers. Service was very slow and it took almost 30 mins for us to order from time we sat down. Although the company I was with was good the time there was close to 3 hours (way too long for Sunday lunch). Maybe it was just a bad day but the overall service and attention to detail should be better for a restaurant with such quality food options.

So first of al they would not seat our party till 50% of us were there... Where are we, Disney? No mimosas at brunch??? Disappointing... 2 inch chunk of dirt served in our salad... Gross!!! Apologized for serving a salad that was too “fresh” but nothing to make it right... Major eye rolls and attitude from the manager... Please... But still fun with our group and at least the waiter was nice... Won’t be rushing back...

This is the third time we had the pleasure of dining here and it never fails to exceed our expectations. And it starts with the service and the servers. Each time we had someone different (because it's been 5 years) but the servers are just so great. They are friendly but not over friendly. They offer suggestions if asked and they offer some great casual conversation. Oh and since I was attending with FOUR other ladies, they were extremely pleased with.....how I can put this professionally......with ALL the male servers which were on duty. Well you get it.
And there's the food. Again.....from the appetizers to the drinks (love the local beers) and the entire meal. Oh....the chicken..... Everything was fabulous. And everyone in our group agreed Woodberry Kitchen is an awesome experience.
Again thank you for another wonderful anniversary dinner/celebration (#20 & 25) that is always worth the drive from Harrisburg/Hershey PA for any occasion.
And thanks to the entire staff for allowing us to have so much fun. Hope to see you all soon.

We’ve been here on two separate occasions, both of which we made reservations for. On both occasion we were not seated for at least 30 minutes after our reservation time. The food took much longer than expected, as the manager even came out to address it without us saying anything, which was appreciated. The server was not very personable and the food was just ok for the price. Great location and atmosphere, if anything.
