Dinner at wood was good! We had the hanger steak and pork shoulder. For desert we had the chocolate crepe brûlée and the lemon cake. Over all the food was good for the cost. The waiter was prompt and the bus guy did don’t wait more than a couple of second before taking your empty glass or plate. Overall the menu is limited for someone with eating restrictions and we would probably not go back when in Chicago. Definitely would recommend to more adventurous eaters and overall it was a great experience.
Wonderful!!! Had an amazing double date with my best friend and her boyfriend. Request to sit at the table at the end of the bar! Kevin was fantastic and hilarious- he made our night!!! While we did spend a lot of money, it was definitely worth it for the awesome drinks and amazing atmosphere. Will definitely be back!
We took 5 friends and had a ball! Everyone loved their food and can I say, "best chicken I ever ate!" I admired the Kentucky Derby poster in the window and they came over and gave me one. Exceptional service and all around great place to have fun and eat. I will go back next time we are in Chicago. Our Chicago friends said they would definitely go back. We ate out at 5 places this past weekend and Wood was voted our favorite. I selected it because my last name is... Wood! And it had a great write-up. Thanks for a fun evening.
Food, service and ambiance are all excellent!!!!!!
Lots of fun, bartenders not as good as the past visits
Great food and awesome ambience and service!
Great service. Good environment. Thanks for making for a good date.
Besides being a fun nicely appointed restaurant, the food is fantastic. The small plate options allow you to try out several dishes. We were a group of five and ordered 4 small plates and 3 large plates. The pasta is fresh and the sauces were fabulous . The beef tartare was amazing. The price point is perfect. A great time was had by all of us.
This was wonderful evening. I do not get a chance to visit since I live in Indianapolis. It was my birthday weekend. Always a treat and Andre was awesome.
I eat here often ---the food and cocktails are always on point---our waiter on the other hand was having a bad night from the start...loads of attitude. I thought it was limited to us until I said something and both tables next to us agreed. Didn't bother to find out his name, but the manager needs to know that he was not friendly at all...and that's all his job is!!! It maybe time to move along!
Creative menu......food was perfect......good service. What more does one need?
A true gem in boystown
Overall, just a solid 4/5. The decor needs an update, but the menu items, service, and quality are always consistent.
The service ruined it.
Excellent food experience. My wife had the sea bass and I had the steak. Both unbelievable.
Will definitely be back here.
We picked the waiters suggestions and loved everything. Great atmosphere and the evening ended with hugs and a plan to return
The burger wasn't that great and the cinnamon rolls were cold as hell. The vibe is okay, but I wasn't thrilled with the food at all. I'm not coming back.
So great! Especially for brunch! Creative takes on classic brunch options.
Food was excellent. Server rolled his eyes when asked which dishes were most popular. Had to constantly ask for server to refill our drinks or order more cocktails. We still left a 20% tip and when we left he was on his cell phone instead of greeting us a good night. Kudos to the chef for amazing sea bass and duck confit. Desserts were excellent especially the lemon cake and brûlée.
The waiter brought the wrong beer to the table and didn't realize he had made a mistake until I had pointed this out twice. The staff wasn't incredibly friendly. The food was fine. Overpriced.
Always my favorite restaurant in Lakeview. I am almost never off on a Saturday night, and went here on a date (ST Patricks day :-( ) So restaurant was extremely busy. But we still had a very nice dinner and I will always return when I want a nice meal and a nice cocktail .
Food was terrible. Had the pork chop and it was so tough I could hardly chew it. I should have returned it. I had to ask for a steak knife as one didn’t arrive with the meal. Some kind of pickled root vegetables were under the pork and they were so acidic to be assaulting. My husband’s fish was flavorless. And these are not cheap meals. Great space overall but the bad food was very disappointing.
$17 for a half portion of pasta seems really high. Good food though.
Been several times - this was one of the poorer experiences. Food service very slow - kitchen issue notvtbe waiter and there weee only 3 or 4 other tables. I have been on nights when it’s full and the speed of service has been way better.
I will still return but I was disappointed this time.
Wood has always been a favorite place to eat in boys town. Service is always good. Drinks amazing, but this trip fell short. Food was just not up to par.
Our experience was so good on Friday night, we came back on Saturday with another group of friends.
The quality of food and service was absolutely perfect - an ideal site for a friend's birthday celebration.
Coffee Crémé Bruleè is a dessert worth while trying.
Great service and food!
It was a wonderful time as always at Wood. Great Food-Great Service-Nice Ambience. I would return
I have been a regular at Wood since it opened in Lakeview in 2012 and frequent it as often as I can. The management, wait- and kitchen-staff not only meet but most often exceeds my expectations for good quality and well prepared food, beverage and service. They go the extra mile to meet my dietary meeds and most often are agreeable to the substitutions or other modifications to my entrees. Their Caesar Salad with anchovies is very well balanced (dressing to Romaine) and one of the best in Chicago. When available, the grilled sturgeon, cassoulet and short ribs of beef are always great entree selections and my favorites.
Wood is just a phenomenal restaurant with amazing food. Every time we go there we fall in love with it agin. It is just great.
Beautiful decor and fun well crafted cocktails. Food and service were excellent.
Fun, energetic, and delicious with excellent cocktails and service. Ask for Nick! He was awesome!
Great food. Terrible wine by the glass, Goofy desserts, Great service, terrible coffees.
Can't understand what the meal is so good and the coffee and desserts so awful.
BUT - the small and large plates were just delicious. Dink ahead of time, and skip dessert.
This is the second time we have been to Woods. Once for dinner, once for brunch. First the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful from the minute you walk in the door. The menu is varied and interesting, but most importantly delicious. Great cocktails. very fun relaxing place. They honor reservation with no problem, and everyone in the restaurant seem to be having fun
Amazing meal all around. Every dish was better than the last. 10/10 dining experience.
Everything was fantastic. We will definitely go back.
Service needs some work. It's almost pointless to make a reservation, you still have to wait 20+ minutes. Servers/bartenders have too much attitude.
Unfortunately this low rating is based on two of the three dishes we tried. The first dish, the beef tartare, was amazing! I could eat that every day and be happy. The next two not so much. The scallops were bland, and tasted like they had sat out for an hour before serving. We also had the tagliatelle, which we sent back the first time because it was freezing, like it had literally been pulled from a fridge. The second try for it was much warmer, but then the pasta was severely undercooked.
The ambiance was great. Our server was very nice. He had good wine recommendations. But we can't justify going back because the food was just not up to par.
