Ate at Wollensky Grill recently and would absolutely not go back. The servicer was rude and condescending which would spoil even the best food. The food was okay, not great and even though it’s New York and I expect expensive I thought it was overpriced. There is nothing special about this place and way too many choices in New York City to have this one make your list.
Unfortunately we had an issue with an item we tried to order. On Open Table the menu showed a $24.00 Veal Chop in Grill. I wanted to order but Manager (Roger) told me it was a mistake on Open Table menu & he would not honor. I told him that I had ordered a few times in the past with no issue. He would not change his position, blamed the issue on Open Table. Ordered other items that were okay. Not sure I’ll go back. Poor manager resolution.
They spoiled my friend on her birthday. Truly wonderful! I live directly across the street so must come here more often
It was a very disappointing experience. The food was extremely slow to come out taking about an hour and then the steak was not cooked as ordered two times and the potatoes were burned on top and cold.
The reserved table was not respected by the manager. He changed the table to a noisy area with kids yelling. Not happy with the table.
I ordered prime rib...90% fat My friend ordered the lobster and it was very over cooked and dry. The only really good experience was the salad.
Food was excellent and the service was exceptional. Always a neighborhood staple!
We were seated in the street side window area so it's quiet there as opposed to the Bar/main area. Our waiter was extremely accommodating. I love that the Maitre D' seated us when 2 of the 3 people arrived.
Food was excellent
I have been going to Wollensky’s Grill for many years due to the excellent shrimp cocktail and wide range of seafood selections. The Bloody Mary cocktails are as good as I have had in Manhattan. The service is cheerful and efficient and the prices justified by the quality of the cuisine.
Reservations are carefully monitored and there is never a wait for a table booked in advance. It is truly one of my wife and my favorite restaurants in NYC.
Table next to us was all guys really loud and profane. there were young children around but manager did nothing. bad form
We were seated as soon as we arrived. Table service was friendly, but had room for improvement in terms of attention. Nothing major though. Room is welcoming, not overly stuffy. Steak was awesome. Recommend.
Best steak ever I had in my live so far.
Really great experience!
Good food, casual setting. Fair prices when you compare to dinner at a pub - you pay the same or more at the pubs for lesser food. Had the fillet mignon sandwich - Great Choice! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Great. We love going in the off hours and enjoying the atmosphere as well as the service and the food. This has been a favorite spot of our forever.
Great food. Great service. Can’t ask for more
Coming over from Sweden once or twice every year, I always try to spend my first night i NYC at Wollensky's. I brought a lot of friends and relatives there. It's a little bit expensive (since the Swedish Krona is so cheap compared to the dollar right now), but it's worth it: the food is first class, so are the drinks. I just like the place, to me it's sooo New York.
And your steak sauce... mmmm.
Mr. Janne Bengtsson
Food gave me bad indigestion indicating that the quality and freshness was not up to par.
95% of the experience of the full dining room, with the same extremely high quality, at a much more reasonable price. A really unsung gem of the NYC steakhouse scene. And sports on the TVs over the bar!
Wollenskey’s grill no longer exists. It is now all fine dining and the pub fare is gone. The food is fabulous, but the prices are expensive if you were prepared for the grill prices. There are no sandwiches or the less expensive items that appeared on the grill menu, so diner beware. It’s a great special event place to eat. The views are absolutely spectacular. We were just unprepared for the change and the premium steakhouse prices.
It was extremely unappealing to sit by a ceiling dripping water.
Gutes Essen, gute Atmosphäre an einem Freitagabend. Jederzeit wieder.
"I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. The steak eas delicious.Service was well-timed and friendly.
Always a treat to eat at Wollensky's Grill. Best Manhattans in town. Be sure to ask for the bread basket.
Great steak, easy to overspend and overorder as you need to order sides , no bread served
Really enjoyed dinner! Steak sandwich was awesome!!
Just perfect food with outstanding service from the moment we walked in to the thank you and goodbye.
Sensational steaks. Very friendly and good atmosphere!
Great Beef, great service, lively atmosphere.
We been to S&W several times and the food and the service has always been excellent, bud this time we where a tad disappointed with the condition of the food. The quality of the meat was very good, as always, but not warm enough and that goes for the potatoes as well. I think this has to do with a delay in serving the plate in time, not that the food wasn't warm from the very beginning. I had to ask for a warm up of my beef and therefore my wife had to start eating hers, before mine returned. Everything else was very good so I trust this was a one time mistake.
I've been a S&W fan for years....always dined there when in NY. But this time it was very disappointing. Steaks took forever to arrive and when they did they were lukewarm. Same with the sides. We sent everything back and when the steaks returned they were hotter but of course at that point they were overcooked. No excuse for this experience at a renowned NY steakhouse. Also the bartender was rude. After paying for my drink he returned with my change and offhandedly threw the bills onto the bar. No smile, no thank you, no nothing. Next time I'm in NY, I'll try another steakhouse. Really too bad as S&W used to be the best....
It was nice food, presentation of the food could have been better - we had a whole head of broccoli, which didn’t look appetising. Also, large portions.
I booked this for a Friday night dinner our 1st night in the city. Great food and loved the busy NYC vibe!!
Incredibly poor service and we had to rely on other waitstaff for service as our waitress was MIA. I mentioned this to the host while dining and on my way out and he just smiled. I’ve been a regular for 15+ years and will not be returning anytime soon, if ever. This restaurant was always my recommendation for out of towners looking for a great NYC experience and it will no longer be.
We went there for hamburgers prior to going to a show. We asked for a quiet table and they accommodated us. Our waiter was excellent. It was freezing and he lowered the a/c and was very attentive. Unfortunately my husband was not happy with his burger as it was overcooked and dry. The fries were crispy as requested.
We had a wonderful dinner at Smythson with Linds keys where we dined in the Grill room and were served by the waiter named Benny. He did a fantastic job of welcoming us and suggesting some of the best items on their new menu and he was attentive and extremely gracious and hosting us that evening the steak was perfectly cooked the tuna tartare was fresh and perfectly prepared and finally the dessert course or something I will never forget thank you Benny and thank you so much
Had the Wollensky burger medium. The outside of the burger was well done, however, the inside was rare. The burger seemed to have been cooked as if it were frozen. Very disappointing.
Loved it, a wonderful experience it just being me for lunch. Loved wine week!! Will be back!
Huge freshly ground and juicy cheeseburger with all trimmings, and ample side of waffle fries served graciously at one of the Top NYC Steakhouses for under 20 bucks!
