House Made Wollensky's Burger
Great food and wine and attentive waiter. Noise level very high but fun place to enjoy a great meal with friends.
This is the best steakhouse in the world - period. The Grill is the less formal alternative to the main restaurant. Serious steaks, unbelievable seafood, delicious drinks and the best service in town. You simply can’t go wrong at S&W. Highest recommendation
Great food, service and ambiance.
For great steak at a great steakhouse…go. Great meal
Was such a treat to get to eat at one of our favorites again!
As always, food and service excellent!
Excellent Food and Excellent Service I am happy Smith and Wolensky's survived the pandemic
I returned as soon as it reopened. I love the Grill, you get the same amazing food but with more reasonable portions. Had the prime rib and two sides.
There were three in our party and we all ordered the English Cut Prime Rib. We were surprised when the waiter brought our order and each prime rib was cut with the bone on. We ordered creamed spinach and baked potatoes to go with the prime rib. Each order was cooked to perfection. If you are looking for a place with great prime rib, you cannot do better than Wollensky's Grill. We will definitely go back again for the prime rib.
We love the feeling in the place as much as the food and drink. It is comfortable just as always with great food, wine and service. We are never disappointed. Glad to see it back just as always.
Top notch! Great steaks, Sides and Wines.
First burger in 15 months, and even better than I remember (maybe part deprivation). I have so missed this place and hoped it would survive - and it did. Always great food, no matter what you order, and the quintessential NYC hangout.
The place was excellent, a little off on the crowds BUT the Staff and Service FABULOUS!
Nice to have them back!
What a great way to come back to NYC. Mike gave us great service, food was wonderful and Jeff Leiske asked me to give him a heads up next time. Couldn’t have asked for more.
Great place to enjoy an amazing steak with great company
Same price as the regular S&W, lower level of service, over-cooked steak.
This is a mainstay for us and we are never disappointed.
Classic steak restaurant with excellent service. Overall good quality, but not a good value for money on steak quality in my view. My Filet Mignon came in two pieces and had limited flavour (no seasoning provided, only cheap salt and pepper shakers on the table). I had expected more from the steak considering the price.
Longtime fan. Best “joint” in the city.
As usual excellent service and great steaks.
Everything was great except the table we sat at. Very cramped for a business lunch.
Service was very welcoming and good. Even gave us a glass of champagne when we arrived for an occasion. I wish our table was a little more immersed in the restaurant instead of by the window - wanted to feel the vibes of the establishment more. Overall a fun time, great food, would come back.
The food was cooked and prepared to perfection. My filet mignon au poivre was delicious as was the macaroni and cheese. For dessert we had coconut layer cake with very tasty mango ice cream and a wonderful bourbon pecan sundae. The service was prompt and our server took the time to chat with us and help us select our dishes. It was worth it to us to put up with some noise from the bar to have the opportunity to enjoy this food at lower prices than the main restaurant.
I've been here a few times with a friend and have usually had a good experience but a few nights ago I did not enjoy my meal for several reasons. We sat at the table for around 10 minutes before anyone brought over menus, it took almost as long for anyone to bring us water. My friend ordered an Irish coffee, which was cold when he got it so he ordered another one. He had to ask three different people for a straw until he finally got one. I ordered a dark & stormy, which tasted more like straight whiskey than a cocktail, I didn't return it because I didn't want to wait even longer to have something to drink. When the waiter took our order, he was holding a pen and notepad, so it was bewildering to me that when he verbally confirmed our order with us he mentioned the pea soup, which neither of us ordered. When the food came out, my friends burger, which he had specified to have no lettuce or tomato and just blue cheese, came out with lettuce and tomato and no blue cheese. I ordered the prime rib, and you'd think that a steakhouse would give you a steak knife, but instead I struggled through with a regular table knife, too put off by the poor service to ask for one. I had trouble understanding each waiter that interacted with us, all of them mumbling inarticulately. The dessert took a while to come out which the manager acknowledged when I mentioned my disappointment. The only moment where service seemed quick and attentive was when they picked up my friends credit card, ran it, and promptly returned it to the table, which was even more disheartening. I've worked in many restaurants as a server, sommelier, and bartender, so I'm typically more forgiving of poor service, but I was extremely irritated by the end of my meal. Will likely never return.
Go for the hamburger. It’s great and really good size. By the way it comes with great fries- menu doesn’t mention that
Mike was the best waiter ever. He should be commended for his fine service
Two months before we made a reservation. We arrived and they gave us a table next to the kitchen. The empty restaurant. Lousy attention of the reception staff women feel models and do not have the slightest level of intelligence. just fill everyone tight in the place. bad experience excellent food
Excellent in all areas
I know it’s a shtick of old bar tenders to seemingly manhandle the drinks and poor the booze Willy billy but my evening started with an old fashioned made by a guy who starts by grabbing my glass so that his fingers were all inside and on the top of my glass, where I’m drinking from. Next he haphazardly throws the ingredients in the glass and throws so much soda into the drink he knocked about 1/4 of the actual drink out of the glass. That was that.
Great host came and got us when the table was ready, was going to seat us in the dinning room and I asked him if we could sit in the quieter front room which he kindly sorted out with our any hassle. It was very appreciated as it was a dinner with an old friend who I rarely ever see and having a good conversation was one of the most important things for me about the dinner.
Dinner was fine, the sirloin for 2 - steak grizzly with significantly over cooked ends and undercooked middle for medium rare. The waiter was very funny and affable, but I’d advise him not to continue asking the lady of the table to ‘open up wide’ as he feeds her the first cut of the steak. It’s just weird dude, we know you mean well, but it’s weird.
I don’t want to bag on the place too bad as it’s a lovely building with a great history and some very nice people, again thank you to the mature d , but I won’t go back.
A great place for a business lunch...good food, quick and pleasant service. One of my favorites
Good steak. Good fries and good wine. Priced ok for central manhattan. Noise level a bit disconcerting. Especially as tables are close.
Also. Steak with pepper sauce for me requires green pepper corns as less pungent than the black.
Overall. I’ll be back. But some improvements would make it better.
Just left S&W where I had their S&W Cut, and I have to say... wow. What an insipid piece of... beef. How they could create such gray, tasteless “prime” rib and pawn it off as their signature item is shameless to say the least. I have no idea where Nick Solares of Meater gets his idea of what makes for decent prime rib, but after taking him seriously for years, from now on, I will take him with the grain of salt that was missing from his favorite prime rib.
BTW- it was my second visit, and the second time was worse than the first. Really, what was this guy thinking? Clearly they must make a special roast for him and then pay him to be their spokesman. Gray?! Really? Never again.
It’s a must when visiting New York, first went in 2003 and just love going back , food and atmosphere brilliant, the steaks are amazing not to mention the onion rings. Always recommend to friends if visiting New York know they will have a great meal and evening, with the money.
Steak came out wrong three times.
It’s just the best. The perfect New York City pub/grill experience. We love dining there.
Food and service was really good, however, the noise level is very high and we were seated next to a table with a whole lot of drama which took away from our overall experience. They required so much attention and it definitely took away from our dinner experience.
All the steakhouses in NYC are good but Wollenskys Grill is my favorite. The food is always great whether you are looking for a blow out dinner or a burger for lunch. However, I like the local feel. It does not seem like a group of businessmen on an expense account but everyday local people stopping by their favorite gathering place. The service is great and they make you feel like you’re part of the local scene. Same menu upstairs at the main restaurant but the feel is not the same.
The food was Excellent as always and the service was spectacular!
