About Wolfgang's Steakhouse - Tribeca
With 4 decades of experience, Wolfgang Zwiener didn't duplicate an exceptional steakhouse, he improved on it to make Wolfgang's Steakhouse exceptional. The porterhouse steak for one, two, four or more, is an outstanding choice. The atmosphere, expanded menu & professional service will appeal to even the most exacting diners. Wolfgang's Steakhouse - Tribeca Ratings and Reviews
Aside from the seafood sampler that we had as an appetizer, the remaining dishes were very disappointing. Porter house for two lacked flavor and was burnt. Not charred for flavor, but ash burnt. Service was horrible. For a $300 dinner I would have expected to at least get my water filled when empty. And how about someone to check on how the meal was being enjoyed? Many better steakhouses out there - avoid this costly mistake.
Food overall was good. As soon as it got a little busy the waiter disappeared and seemed to be concentrating on the regulars. So much for trying to build new customer relations. Spent $500 for 2
but I guess that doesn't matter. Won't be visiting this restaurant again with so many choices in the area.
i couldn't get into Peter Luger that night and had heard this one comparable. The food was fine; not amazing. The porterhouse for two wasn't on par with PL at all. The sides were fine, the cheesecake was the highlight. What put us off the most was the staff. The hostess seemed miserable My husband and I had reservations for weeks to have a romantic dinner. She put us at a table in the very back sandwiched between 2 large tables overflowing with loud young children. When i asked for a quieter table up front (which was empty save 2 tables of 4), she didn't even reply but just annoyingly grabbed the menus and we assumed we were to follow her? The waiter also seemed miserable. I've lived in NY for 5 years and dined at the best, but this crew could not have been any unfriendlier. Between the food being just fine and the staff, we would not go back.
Celebrated our 23 rd wedding anniversary at our favorite Steakhouse.
Impeccable service , beautiful setting and great location .
Porterhouse steak is wonderful, so rich, tender and delicious. Best mashed potatoes you will ever have and the grilled asparagus was amazing.
Love this place and will definitely be back !
Food is always excellent. However, when we dined there for a friend's birthday on Friday, my friend ordered a dirty martini and told the waiter it wasn't very good. The waiter proceeded to bring out a bottle of olive juice and spray it into his drink at the table like we were at a Hibachi restaurant. Then the waiter said something about "doing this for 22 years". I am not one to write reviews, but I feel this was kind of bizarre for a waiter to not just have the bartender make another drink when we're paying top $$$ for the dinner. I don't know if I would return to this particular Wolgang's location. Unrelated: the lobster appetizer was awesome.
This has been a longstanding place on my list to take customers. However, our most recent experience was less than acceptable. When MY customers make comments that the servers are rude and snide, I am embarrassed. My customers deserve better, I deserve better. We will never visit this establishment again.
Thought we'd try a new steakhouse. Had previously eaten at the Park Ave. location, so we assumed much would be the same. It was fine until the waiter took the order of a larger group at the next table that came in after we did before he took ours.
I had wine but the others in my party only drink water. Good luck getting your (small) water glass refilled--we had almost none. Is Wolgang's experiencing a drought? Steak house waiters have eyes in back of their heads, so being ignored doesn't work for us.
Portions are very large, so when we asked to take the leftovers home, I didn't like the waiter's pained expression. Pro tip: Pretend you don't care, it's part of your job.
Good food and lots of street parking were the biggest pluses. Otherwise, a disappointment.
We got there rather early 6pm reservation. The waiters were disinterested in serving us. Brought one glass of water to start even though there was three settings. I had to ask if the waiter walking by was our waiter after waiting 10 minutes for someone to return. When I asked if he was our waiter, he said "yes" and kept walking. When he finally came back he pulled out his little notebook and pen and said "go ahead". I had to aske for water. I had to ask for a wine list. Seriously?? We got a new waiter as I think other waiters may have heard me complaining to my table about the one we had. He was much better. The food was Ok. The porterhouse for two was large and three of us didn't finish it, but I wouldn't compare it to the other steakhouses I normally frequent, like Del Friscos. The german mashed potatoes were not tasty and we barely ate them. We had good apps and good dessert but nothing jumped out that made me want to return. This was my third time here. The first time was very good, in 2011. The last two times were similar, not great service and food that didn't inspire me to want to come back. There are plenty better restaurants where I can drop $100 for steak.
Even my kids give affirmation to the fact this is the best steakhouse in The City. Wonderful, professional service and impeccable food, prepared exactly as ordered and arriving in appropriate time frame. Pricey, but not inordinately so, and in line with competitors. Given the choice we would return here without hesitation.
