About Wolfgang's Steakhouse - Tribeca
With 4 decades of experience, Wolfgang Zwiener didn't duplicate an exceptional steakhouse, he improved on it to make Wolfgang's Steakhouse exceptional. The porterhouse steak for one, two, four or more, is an outstanding choice. The atmosphere, expanded menu & professional service will appeal to even the most exacting diners. Wolfgangs may have been a go to Steakhouse in the past.
I will choose to go elsewhere for a Steak.
The steaks were ill prepared and delivered warm, my experience with steak is to accept
what they serve or your second steak will be worse.
Note to self.........
I will not be visiting this steakhouse again
Excellent steaks! We went for lunch and ordered the filet mignon with mashed potatoes and broccoli and it was delicious. The filet was tender, cook just right and not overly seasoned. Also for a lunch portion the steak was good size and more than enough. We also tried the slab canadian bacon which was tasty and fun to try. Overall we had a nice dining experience and will go back. Lunch is reasonably priced for the quality of the steak. Wine menu is vast but pricey which you expect for this level of dining.
Food was very good, but service was terrible. Always felt like we were being rushed. Wait staff was constantly hanging over our table, asking us to order when we weren't ready, asking if we were done when members of our party were clearly still eating, etc. We've been to Wolfgangs in the past, but not sure if we would ever go back again. Not very friendly. For these prices, we expect the whole package/experience to be top notch, but it wasn't.
5 of us went for Father's Day. They first wanted to seat us at a table for 4 with a chair at the end. When we asked for a table for 5 we were taken into another room but were told the AC was not working well in there. That was an understatement. It was a hot muggy night and we were all sweating. The tab for the night was $700.00. We shared apps and desserts and each had 2 drinks. So just be careful about your ordering. It adds up very quickly. That said, the food was excellent and we've been to various Wolfgangs 6 or 7 times and will must likely go again for a special occasion
This was my first time here and well starting off it was really hot in the place and loud. We started off with the Canadian bacon appetizer and immediately, I noticed it was burnt. Our meals then came out, we ordered the 28 day dry aged ribeyes and yet again they were burnt. They came out medium rare as ordered but all I could taste was burnt. We got the German potatoes and sauteed broccoli as our sides and surprise, surprise the potatoes were burnt and the broccoli just wasn't good. It was an overall disappointment. I can't say ill be going back there ever for the price I paid. I don't know how they think it's okay to serve this disgusting burnt food but never again.
This restaurant was not what I expected. It is an old school style steak house. It is surprisingly in tribeca and I doubt that it services the local clientele. I thought the atmosphere was dull and commercial. However the food was good. The meat was cooked correctly and the portions were generous. The service was excellent and extremely efficient. There were a lot of families when we went so it was quite noisy. I think this place is best for family outings.
Wolfgang's is on a par with Peter Lugar without having to schlepp to Brooklyn. In fact Wolfgang himself worked there as a waiter for 25 years and when his son graduated from business school he set his old man up in his own place. The rest is history. The porterhouse for two will knock your socks off. Could feed four normal eaters but if you are a steak hound like me, three people might just barely finish it. It's the best in New York if not the entire country. You'd have to go to Argentina to get a better steak then this. The sides are no surprise but creamed spinach, baked potato, onion rings, are all great, all excessive. Try the shrimp cocktail appetizer for an extra dose of high cholesterol. You know what? Don't even go here. It's tough enough to get a table in NY and every table is great at Wolfgang's TriBeCa. The Park Avenue locale is great too, what a scene, but a bit noisy where TriBeCa is not low key. The service is impeccable. Can't speak highly enough of Wolfgang's. I've been to them all and Wolfgang's is my favorite bar none.
