Nice time at the bar then nice meal with friends. Attentive and courteous waiters. My husband and I shared the Tomahawk chop, which was delicious. The creamed spinach was not too creamy (which we liked) and the German potatoes and onion rings were equally delicious. The pecan pie with schlag was the perfect finish.
Enjoyed our lunch. Service was excellent and food was good
I get it is an expensive steakhouse but $16 for a glass of Jamison on the rocks! They're out of control with their bar prices. Every few years I go back and remember why I should avoid the place. I can get a similar quality steak within five minutes of the place and pay $8 for a glass of Jamison.
Food, service and live music was amazing! We decided to do something different on a Friday night and we loved the ambiance that Wolfgang's offered that particular night. Hope we can be back soon!
While food & service were good, some notable items were missing considering the price tag of roughly $175 per head (includes wine). i.e. Worn menus (illegible in spots), Shallow wine menu with prices escalating quickly, No (or limited) sommelier support, Orders not complete (ordered a item that never came).
I am not a particularly fussy dinner but, again, at these prices, I expect a level of attention to detail much higher than your typical dinning experience. For me, Wolfgang's Steakhouse Grill is now a pass.
Way too expensive for an ok meal... food was not great. I left hungry. Will not return again.
It was our first time at Wolfgang's, we had been meaning to try it for some time. Reservations were easy and upon arriving we were warmly greeted by Justin. He was great! Got us to our table quickly and checked up on us multiple times throughout the night. My wife and I have 2 young kids so date nights don't come as often. To be treated like royalty really helped the night feel special. The service was great and the food was amazing. Our waiter was on point with his recommendations. The porterhouse for 2 (or more) was amazing! We barely needed our knives to cut it. It was a great experience and we will definitely be going back.
The food was good but the noise level made it hard to have a conversation.
It’s always a guaranteed great evening. From the moment you’re greeted at the door to the wait staff and management it will not disappoint.
Arrived about 6 pm for early dinner with friends. Went to bar for cocktails before we sat for dinner. Gin and tonic was very weak. Asked to transfer bar bill to table and weren’t able and had to close out before we sat. Found this rather strange and a bit of an inconvenience. No matter. Service is okay but not what their prices dictate. Apps average $20 and entrees at $45. Food was fine but nothing spectacular. Six people and bill was $700 before tip. Definitely pricey and honestly not worth the $.
Excellent food , excellent service !
Hubby & I went for our one year anniversary. It was so delicious! Our waitress and the entire wait staff were fantastic. It was $ but it was worth it... maybe the best steak I have ever had. I can’t wait to go back!!
We enjoyed our meal - had the porterhouse for 2 for $100 - the steak came out a little rare but kept cooking on the heated plate. We were a little disappointed in the lack of flavor (will order the ribeye next time). Service was good except for the end when we had to wait about 20 minutes to get the check. Definitely worth a visit if you do not mind New York prices in a NJ Steakhouse.
1 year anniversary
My husbands 50th birthday!
The food was excellent. From the filet mignon to the dessert - everything was prepared to perfection. A great place to celebrate special occasions. The server was very attentive and phenomenal.
First we were ignored when we entered sat down ordered food waited an hour , when Food came center of filet mignon was ice cold , got a sorry “ you are absolutely right “ then was offered free dessert , being a steakhouse the one thing they should know is how to cook a steak ($52) steak at that
My wife was horrified that this was not addressed , will never go back
The food and drinks (cocktail, then a glass of wine for both of us) were all delicious. We could barely squeeze into our table, which was wedged between the glass wall and the main path into the dining room. The waiter didn't quite get one drink right (one rock with scotch), not on the rocks), cleared the butter and bread plates and utensils, but left the bread. At the end of the meal, we waited 20 minutes for the check, as he was nowhere to be seen. After waiting 15 more minutes for him to come collect it (we were using a gift certificate), we just left. It was a bigger tip than he deserved, but waiting for change wasn't worth it.
Made a reservation for dinner and was seated in the noisy, crowded, non private, BAR booth.
Dinner was great. Service was great. But James sat my wife and I in the bar without ever asking if that was ok.
Well when I go for dinner with my wife and spending what I spend... I do not want to sit in the bar.
Bad mistake by Janes. He must ask do you mind sitting in the bar.... he did not. He hugged and BSed with what seemed like a lot guests in the dining area and walked past us at least 10 times... never once stopped and asked how everything was. On my way out I told him I was disappointed in sitting in the bar. He said you should have said something... no, you should have asked.
Food was very good and the service was great as well. Much better than the first time I went which was not long after the opened. The one caveat is that it can get a bit noisy in there depending on the where your table is and the bigger groups that they sometimes have. If you are looking for a quiet table there is no guarantee that you can find one. Otherwise, very good steakhouse w/out going into the city or Philadelphia.
Overpriced in my opinion...
It was ok. Had the veal Milanese and it should come with more arugula. Wife's steak was ok could have been more charred. Creamed spinach very close to Lugers. Almost like Lugers out of the jar. Service was good and attentive. Drinks were real good and the wine pours were excellent.
Steaks were incredible. Wonderful service.
Excellent food with very good service. Super clean atmosphere in a rich environment that is typical of what you would expect from a first-class steakhouse.
Steak was perfect!! Our waiter was outstanding, he guided us through what we should order and how much and it was a perfect amount for each person. He was attentive and made it a great evening. Great food and service to boot!
Waiter service was unusually slow and the bar service was extremely slow
I have been to numerous Ruth's Chris Steakhouses . Overall , I find the dining experience at Ruth's Chris' better in every aspect.
This review was my second time at this restaurant. The first visit I would have given 4 stars. However, this visit we showed up early for our reservation and went to sit at the bar a bit. The bar was a mess and we had to wait to have it cleaned off. They must have been short staffed because there was one girl behind the bar, who was frazzled and getting yelled at by a waiter who needed his drinks. The restaurant was not too busy however the noise level made it difficult to hear my husband. We sat at our table and our bus boy was very awkward. The salad we ordered was great. My husband then got a steak which he loved. I got the seafood pasta, which was sub par. I have ordered seafood at other steakhouse which is usually great but everything was chewy, without much flavor and the linguine was cooked mediocre. The server was good, however the dinner took a while to be served. Had it not been so noisy I would not have minded the wait.
Great steak. Great tuna. A little pricey so special occasions only
The food is very good and tasty. The steaks were prepared to perfection and they serve very large proportions. Go hungry and you will not be disappointed. The noise level is very loud so I don't recommend for a quiet romantic date or if you are really trying to have quiet conversation. Oddly enough, our waiter was switched during our meal and the second, older waiter, was even better than the first. The food was a bit spicy for my wife so be sure to ask what's used in the preparation of the food - they used two types of jalapeños with the veal chops. Again, a very nice restaurant with better food than Char. They are a bit on the expensive side where a dinner for 4 will run you about 3 hundred dollars + tax.
The food was top-notch. I ordered surf and turf and it was delicious. I will definitely return.
We went there for a good stake. At first I was really disappointed, we ordered the porterhouse, started eating the narrowest part opposite of the bone and not only was it chewy but very raw in the middle. We send it back to cook it a little more. It came back very quickly and a bit burned on the outside but it was cooked sufficiently enough inside. The meat that was close to the bone was really good but didn’t enjoy the rest of it, in my opinion it wasn’t worth $100. Our appetizers and desserts were really good but that was the most expensive statehouse we’ve been to and we’re expecting to be blown away by a great steak and I don’t feel we got that. Don’t get me wrong it was better then other stakehouses but not worth $100. Plus I didn’t appreciate the $25 cork charge for bringing my own wine. I find that unjust and unfair that I can’t enjoy my favorite wine with out paying an extra $25. For that reason alone I will not be going back.
Service was terrible, we were pretty much ignored. 20 minutes after sitting our order was taken. Apps/salad came out quickly.
Drinks and water never refilled. Food came out looking sloppy some under cooked but took 15 to flag down server. Sent back rare steak came out 5 minutes later charred and still rare.
At no time was there a recheck on food or even I’m sorry.
Went looking for a manger found someone who took the steak off the bill but all we were looking for was to leave happy.
That did not happen. Could you stop at the table and say sorry?
Work on training staff, busy people leaning across me to throw fork and knives on the table, no water refills, no check ins on how food was, food comes out looking like it was thrown on the plate.
I watched other tables get much better service.
Absolutely perfect! The meat was cooked exactly as ordered. One person ordered grilled shrimp. they were large and also cooked perfectly. We can't wait to return.
The beef here is superlative, as is the service. Wolfgang's isn't cheap but it's worth every penny. We were there for lunch and were surprised to see all the tables filled with either "ladies who lunch" or young business people in a group for lunch.
Food was good, but for the price, not worth it, service was excellent, wait staff was attentive and took great care of us, and even offered us free champagne. Also, little bit loud in there. But overall tolerable.
Very inconsistent across the board here.
$12.95 for a side of Button Mushrooms
Excellent service by the Valet who led us in with umbrellas on a very miserable rainy night. Followed by really poor host/hostess service. We were not offered to coat check like the couple before us and given a table in the back corner where the server station is while a lot of other tables were open. The hostess who brought us to our table was noticeably unhappy and openly expressing her frustrations several times during the evening.
Wedge Salad was the best part of the meal. The Roquefort dressing was fantastic and left me wanting more, the chunky slab bacon was a nice touch and brought the whole thing together. Lobster bisque was an off menu special and was unremarkable and lacked depth of flavor.
Next we shared a crab cake appetizer. The flavor of the cake was good however it was clearly overworked when mixed causing the wonderful large lumps of crab to be broken into more minced pieces. The remoulade sauce was excellent.
Next came our steaks, rib-eyes with a side of mushrooms and mashed potatoes. The steaks got mixed up temperature wise and we switched plates. The steaks were flavorful but lacked a bit in seasoning. You can very much appreciate the dry aging nuttiness that comes out from the in-house process.
The mashed potatoes were silky and seasoned perfectly. The mushrooms were a nice accompaniment to our steaks. But $12.95 for button mushrooms is over the top even for a high end steakhouse!
Final thoughts: My expectations were much higher for a meal and service at such a prestigious establishment and while there were highlights, clearly there are things that need improving. Your host staff & quality control at the pass need attention.
Truly a course correction is needed to justify the price tag of a meal at Wolfgang’s.
Have frequented Wolfgang's restaurants throughout NY since he opened the first. Consistently am excellent dining experience - love the Somerville location and their outstanding service staff.
Excellent service but the food was average similar other chain steakhouses
Very nice atmosphere and the food was delicious
