Celebrating a job promotion. Porterhouse steak for 2 was amazing. Will definitely be back !
You must try the grilled Veal chop and the asparagus
The entire group (four of us) ordered various types of steak. The quality of the meat and preparation were excellent and as ordered. The waiter was very professional , as was the overall quality of service. Our only negative was the bacon on the wedge salad , which was chunks of deep fried fat. We would not order again.
It's like having a Peter Luger steak house right next door. Awesome meal!
Excellent food. We have been here several times. Best steaks ever. No need to go to NYC anymore
Staff and food are always great! They make you feel special and tonight’s service was no different! Always will come back
Warm greeting as we arrived, and they accommodated us with an outdoor table on a beautiful evening. The food is simple and there is something on the menu for all tastes. Portions are adequate. NY Strip Loin was cooked properly and enough to share. Salads were tasty and fresh. Wine by the glass selection was well varied. Service was attentive for a Saturday night.
Great upscale atmosphere. Saturday night, but late reservation time, and it was packed. Extremely loud. Hard to converse among the 4 of us. A la carte makes it pricier. Filet was filet. Hard to mess up. Rib-eye was huge. Giant lobster as stated on menu. Service was good with a lot of them tending to each table. Had been for lunch in the past. Much quieter and my salad was impressive as was the service. Will go back, but not in a rush. It’s a once in a while, twice a year kind of place for dinner. Want to try it on a quieter night.
Of course the setting, semi-outdoors in downtown Somerville, NJ is very, very nice. The waiters were attentive but not obtrusive; the food excellent although some items came out a little cold.; we did not complain as the setting was conducive to enjoying the meal and conversing.
Party of 6 gathered for drinks and dinner at Wolfgang's Steakhouse to celebrate my wife's birthday. Excellent service. Food - seafood and steaks - were exceptional. It was a perfect place and atmosphere to laugh and celebrate the special occasion.
It is my birthday today.
Great food with ambiance and great waiters!
We couldn't get a reservation at Peter Lugers for my husband's birthday. The food at Wolfgang's was just as good and the ambience was much better! And - we didn't have to fight traffic going to Brooklyn.
My waiter should’ve been in the kitchen washing dishes and for busboy horrible don’t enjoy the waiter or bus boys walking by my table when my appetizers were done and then when my steak was done sitting in front of dirty dishes and then have to ask for a check never came over Ask if everything was all right n not even offer dessert thank God for an older gentleman bill which was the best bus boy ever
Had dinner with friends! Ordered the tomahawk medium rare, which was great! Ordered lobster Mac and cheese, sauteed spinach, and mashed potatoes for sides to share and bacon for appetizer! Dessert we had creme brulee and there was whipped cream on the side which was very good. Food was all delicious and great service! Servers were on top of refilling our waters. I also ordered a lychee martini which was also delicious. Their versions adds prosecco to it which was a nice touch. Definitely would come back here!
We all ordered our steaks medium rare and they all came out medium well. It was a business meal and everyone politely ate their steak without sending it back. I can’t speak to the quality of the steak because it was so over cooked for my taste. I like a cool red center. The steak I was served was the same temperature (and practically the same color) throughout. For a filet mignon it’s seemed dry and tasteless. We regularly get dry aged-steaks from Hind & Fore (butcher in B’water) and anyone in our household, include our kids, can prepare a steak better.
That being said, we had a lovely time. We sat outside, the service was excellent, and the drinks were reasonably priced. I’d probably go back, the food was no worse than Ruth Chris or Roots Steakhouse.
If you have a good butcher and know how to cook a steak, you’re paying for the ambiance, not the food.
The oysters were mushy, the steak was over cooked and meat wasn’t great, and broccoli lacked flavor. I was very unimpressed. Service was good, but the food left a lot to be desired.
I booked Wolfgang’s for my sons’s graduation. The day of graduation I read some bad reviews about the service on Fathers Day. I was worried, but our service was perfect. Our waitress was very attentive and offered suggestions. All food came out as expected and in a timely manner. The filets were well-prepared and veal parm was as others described it, voluminous! Unfortunately, we were too full for dessert, but they still brought my son one to celebrate the occasion!
Great service and excellent food
We liked everything about this restaurant but the food. My Dover sole was so salty that I could hardly eat any. At $49 I would expect better especially since I asked for no salt.
We've been here a few times before and loved it. This time, however, the service was horrible. We waited 1 1/2 hours to be served our dinner. It was on Father's Day and it was busy, but this restaurant should have been able to handle it. When the food finally came out it was amazing and delicious, but it was a terrible dining experience because we had to wait so painfully long to be served. We complained to the manager and he apologized and threw in dessert, but this should never happen at a restaurant of this quality. We will think twice before going back, even with the food being so good. There are other choices.
Food was good. Service was terrible. It took over an hour to be served our entree. I am sure the waitress did not put order in as she looked shocked midway during our wait. After that neither she nor water server came back to our table. When meals were finally served, she proceeded to serve each of us the sides which I thought was really weird. Possibly to make up for the long wait. It pretty much backfired as she dropped broccoli on the floor as well as mashed potatoes on the table she then said she was bringing us more mashed potatoes and took about half of what she didn’t serve back to the kitchen snd she never returned. When she gave us dessert menus I told her she never brought the mashed potatoes back -her response was sorry and that was it matter of fact we were still charged for mashed potatoes I did complain to the maître d’ Who proceeded to deduct some money off the bill. This is the first time I’ve ever complained about a meal or written about it
My son and I split the Porterhouse Steak. It was one of the best steaks I’ve ever had in my life. Service was prompt but not rushed. The environment is elegant. Would undoubtedly return.
Food was delicious, we sat in the booths by bar hence a bit noisy. Our waiter didn’t seem to care to be there. Looked very unhappy and barely explained anything. For the price we paid the service was very sub par.
The worst dining experience I have ever had. When we walked through the door they had a band playing so loud you couldn't hear yourself talking. We then got seated next to 6 guys that thought they were in a sports bar. When I commented to the waiter that the noise was rediculous his response was I tell them all the time but they let it go on. When the waiter failed to ask them to tone it down I complained to the manager who did ask them but it lasted about 3 minutes. It was a horrible experience at a Hefty price.
Wolfgangs"s Never Disappoints
My wife is very particular about the restaurants we spend money on and this one is worth it. Not every day dining as it is a pricey meal but it delivers. The Oysters Rockefeller were awesome and we had to have another order. The Veal parmesan was delicious and worthy of a hungry appetite. The beef was awesome. We will be back.
Wolfgang’s is consistently a great place to dine. Although their signature dish is, of course, steak, their entire menu is wonderful.
A companion ordered veal chop Parmesan—the meat overlapped the plate! The seafood appetizers leave little room for the entree but are
so well worth the sacrifice of bringing part of the entree home. The service staff is friendly and professional. We recommend Wolfgang’s
without hesitation. Be sure to make a reservation even during the week nights.
EXCELLENT dry aged porterhouse for 2...Right in the heart of NJ. Delish!
The first thing I noticed in the restaurant was that it was very nice inside. While most people were dressed business casual or "casual but neat", I was surprised by a number of people who did come in extremely casual. I did notice a separate room with a private party. The bar looked like a nice place to take your spouse/date or the after-work professional group. There were large windows overlooking Main Street. This was nice as the Tour of Somerville bicycle event was happening and we could see some of the action.
We were greeted and promptly shown to a table. The staff was friendly and were quick to clear unused items from the table. They did bring out a separate large and small plate that we didn't understand until one of the dinners came out and they were used to raise the serving plate at an incline (as to spoon out the juice from the meat). That was a bit strange.
Dinners were good. The Petite Filet was tender, the NY Strip was juicy but over-cooked from the medium rare that was ordered. But could have used a bit more seasoning. Two other chicken dishes looked good. The chicken dishes were pretty large portions. Sides of the German potatoes and broccoli were also good. At the end, they brought a single, small piece of key lime pie for twin daughters to share.
Wine was good. The bottle list looked very nice. The "by the glass" options were smaller than most similar steak houses but good. I did see another table bring in wine and asked about corking fees. The waiter said that they don't encourage bringing your own wine and the corkage fees vary by the quality and size of the bottle - from $25-$75. The answer surprised me as it seemed very subjective and the range varied so much.
I would go back for special events or a nice dinner with my wife or friends. I'd also consider going to the bar area, as it looked like a nice place for a good drink.
Constancy and great service are a staple of Wolfgangs Somerville. The service is always on point and meal is always top notch. I strongly recommend the Porterhouse for two or more. You must start with the bacon appetizer. Pick your family style accompanying dishes. Choose a great cocktail or draft beer and you're good to go.
Expansive wine list as well. This is a good spot to mark a special event or just because. Word of warning, once you have tried dry aged beef, you can eat steak the same way again.
Service was excellent. Food was definitely as good a as normal. Veal chop tasteless and over cooked. Creamed spinach greasy, not creamy. French fries were over cooked and hard. The appetizers, shrimp cocktail and oysters were wonderful. Usually, this saves a long ride into New York for a great steak dinner. This time I should have taken the drive.
Great outdoor dining, wonderful staff, outstanding cocktails
Food very good but pricey. Service excellent. VERY noisy and restaurant was not that crowded. I would only go back for a special occasion.
Very disappointed, especially for a restaurant I have been to many times and enjoy thoroughly. This time poor service, excessively loud music and over and undercooked steak. How can you screw up cooking two steaks when you are a steakhouse????
Good Food & Great Service
Great service and food. Worth the experience and price.
Very surprised at how few the steak options were, so much so that we ordered everything but steak. The decor is cookie cutter. The staff was very nice.
We had an excellent dinner. Our waiter was wonderful, too.
