Porterhouse for Two or More
When eating at Wolfgang's you get what pay for. I've eaten there at least a dozen times and they never disappoint.
We had an open table reservation for 8:45pm. We arrived early at 8:15pm and checked in and then sat at the bar to have a drink while we waited. That part was great! However, by 9:15pm we still weren’t seated. I asked the hostess and she said it would still be a few more minutes. 10 minutes later and she still never came to seat us. Thankfully the wonderful bartender went to say something and we were then finally seated by 9:25pm (for an 8:45pm reservation!). We ordered our food immediately since we were starving. The appetizers came out fast but our steaks / rest of the meal didn’t come out until 10:15pm! My husbands steak was cooked correctly but wasn’t piping hot & his baked potato was still hard. My filet mignon was supposed to be medium and came out so over done it was incredible disappointing especially for the cost here! A table next to us had their plates literally sizzling as we could hear it as the waiter walked by. Ours certainly weren’t sizzling at all upon arrival. The ambiance is nice but it’s not intimate if you’re there for a special occasion like we were (our anniversary). We were very disappointed. The waiter did treat us to a complimentary anniversary dessert & glass of champagne which was very nice and unexpected. So we didn’t leave bummed after that, but again, was quite disappointed with the incredibly long wait and the food that wasn’t cooked correctly.
Yes, it's brutally expensive (the wine markups here could balance the federal budget) but every now and then you want that classic steakhouse experience. It's impossible to replicate at home, and with far less formality, so you simply accept it's going to cost you three or four Benjamins.
Wolfgang's has become our go-to place when we really feel like an amazing steak. Salads are always fresh ($14-$18), steaks are beautifully prepared (my $75 ribeye was perfectly "Pittsburgh") and with creamed spinach, onion rings (the real thing, too) and the most fabulous roasted mushrooms it's the epitome of the steakhouse experience. Our servers are nicely formal, attentive, and polite but with personality. We managed to find a reputable sub-$100 cabernet (90% of the wine list tops one-hundred with many three or four times that-it's an attitude with steakhouses) and plenty of leftovers for midweek nachos.
Dessert list was nice but we had no room for it.
We look forward to our next craving and a return to Wolfgang's.
Great food for the price. Sides are good sized portions. Drinks and dessert a bit pricey,
Billy was an awesome guy. Food was good.
We enjoyed our 10 wedding anniversary there.
Excellent food and service. Ate outside and had a great evening.
While the food was excellent the service was not up to par. We waited 35 minutes to get our check after letting the waiter know we wanted it. In addition, the noise level was so loud we were shouting at our table to hear each other.
Always very good food and very thorough service. Somewhat pricey.
This was our second visit & it was just as pleasurable as our first. I have to say that the service is hands down the best in the business. The food was also impeccable. I love this restaurant. It was our daughter’s 21st birthday & everything from start to finish was perfect. Thank you.
This was my 10 year anniversary and 2 year married anniversary. The food was outstanding but the wait staff was slow and inattentive. Prices were expensive but worth the amount of food. Overall a great special occasion dinner.
Excellent food from appetizer to dessert. Porterhouse for two was perfectly cooked and melt in your mouth stuff. Took a star off service as they all seemed to be racing around the restaurant and our table was next to a service station. But it’s little to be complaining about.
First off, the pricing has gotten to a ridiculous level. $29.95 for a shrimp cocktail or a crab cake? A $120 stuffed rubber lobster? And yes, the steak was good. Overall, standoffish, entitled wait staff really turns me off. I won’t be going back anytime soon.
This is our "go to" place in our area for a good quality steak and steakhouse food in general. We had their house burger for the first time on Sat and it was such a great burger; simple, high quality beef cooked perfectly medium, soft brioche bun. The fries and onion rings that came with the burger were fresh and crispy!!!
To be honest, their non-steak dishes are phenomenal and often overlooked; the seafood linguine and the chicken parmigiana are some of the best I've tasted; their pasta is always perfectly al dente!
Great place for upscale dining, but not intimidating.
Service amazing! Food was outstanding!
I have eaten here before and enjoyed it. This time the food was very bland with no flavor. I had the salmon - there was no seasoning. My friends had lam and steak - same thing. no flavor. Also, the prices seem like they doubled (we paid $150 per person) and no we didn't order expensive wine. we just had cocktails. The menu was limited as well. definitely expected better. hope they revisit their menu. the place was also very empty.
Worst steak I’ve ever had!!!!
I decided to go to wolfgangs because I enjoyed Peter lugers and I wanted to try the restaurant for my birthday. During the course of dinner, I waited 45 minutes for my entrees to arrive, other patrons were being served who came after us in a more timely fashion, the lobster Mac and cheese was not very good and the waiter forgot it was my birthday. I had to remind him towards the end of dinner that today was my birthday celebration. There was a huge disconnect with the hostess and the waiter, the hostess knew it was birthday but I seems she didn’t relay the message.
I have been to Ruth Chris, bobby vans (two locations), Morton’s, taste of Texas and Peter Luger, for birthday celebrations and wolfgangs fortunately missed it mark for service and quality of the meal. I honestly didn’t enjoy my celebration and would suggest going somewhere else, you can get a quality service and a great meal at any of the other restaurants I listed. If you want to have a trendy night out with your friends then stop by Wolfgang of you want to have a celebration then head somewhere else
Not a special event location. Too noisy. Not intimate. Lots of families. Service was rushed.
Absolute best experience from the service to the food. You can never go wrong at Wolfgang’s.
Celebrating my wife’s birthday. First time visiting this restaurant and it was very pleasurable experience.
Food great, service was awesome. Billy great waiter!!!!
Great location in Somerville NJ - Outdoor dining and plenty of parking
Always a consistent meal and waiter staff are pleasant
Great as usual.
Food is always the best!!!
I asked my for my steak to be medium well with a little pink. Some pieces were red so I had to send it back. The steamed broccoli was very hard with no taste.
Consistently excellent food and service. Somerville, NJ location was rocking on a Saturday night and it was refreshing dining in an establishment which doesn't require its servers to wear masks while waiting on unmasked diners.
Well worth the money, wonderful staff and service! : )
everything was perfect! outdoor seating , bread, porterhouse, martini, spinach, baked potato, hot fudge sundae. thank you!
Service was outstanding. Food was okay. We ordered the porter house and ribeye with creamed spinach, and the lobster Mac & cheese.
Everything went well until I was reprimanded via an email by OpenTable for missing my reservation; which I clearly did not. I have a $800 bill that says otherwise.
Everything was great, from the service to the food, it was delicious! Our hostess even asked us if we wanted a more private spot since we were celebrating our anniversary, which was really thoughtful. We would definitely come back, my husband loved it!
Dinner was perfect. Everything was excellent. It was a beautiful evening.
The food was excellent, but the service was horrible.
We had to keep asking for our waiter
Only can to the table once , I was asking other waiters for service
Everything was great. Food was delicious. My only slight disappointment was that my medium rare steak was fully grey inside. It was still tender and tasty, but I had expected a pink center. For the price I wanted perfection. But everything else was top notch. It’s quite pricey, but an excellent choice for a special occasion meal.
The prime beef only prime !! Mouthwatering seafood, the atmosphere , service great the best restaurant!!! I can live in this place everything was to perfection!!!
All things considered, an excellent experience!
Met my production manager for lunch and it was busy for a Monday but only outside .
We sat indoors in a booth , looked at the celebrity photos with Wolfgang. Our waiter was young and professional, sweet and very organized. I had the burger which arrived perfectly done ( medium) with a brioche bun and bacon. The bacon was actually pork belly which is more than enough for me but still delicious . My companion had the steak sandwich and was marveling at its goodness. Hand cut fresh potatoes fries were on HIT!
Will definitely come again
Great as usual. The food was amazing. From the oysters to the bacon to the filet mignon to the veal chop. Everything was fresh, and delicious.
Our waiter Joseph was great. Had a lot of good suggestions. Can’t wait to go back
Excellent service and excellent steaks! But get ready to pay New York City prices.
