Wolfgang's Steak House - 54th Street Ratings and Reviews
I was not happy with the porterhouse for two, which pretty much came out almost well done, when I asked for Medium rare. My friend was nice enough to just eat, asked me to not send it back to the kitchen. Since we didn't have much time. Sides were ok. Everything about the restaurant was plain. Nothing special. I should've picked somewhere else for the special dinner with a friend who was visiting...
Our original waiter was fabulous, we gave him our order and he opened the wine and that was the last time we saw him. Afterwards, We could not get any waiter’s attention and when we did our request was not fulfilled (just wanted a refill to our water glasses). Finally I got very upset and had to raise my voice and get the attention of a passing waiter.
I will NOT be coming back to this Wolfgang.
The service was so rushed, we were in and out in 25 minutes. The servers and staff were pleasant, but it was completely rushed, we felt overly served and the food wasn't worth what we paid. For a NYC steak dinner, we should have been there longer than 25 minutes.
Went a great old friend for pre Mayweather fight meal. Being that it's the last Sat night of the summer it wasn't real busy. As always the service is great and professional , had the bacon, tomatos and onions, we spilt a crap meat and Shrimp cocktail, got the porter house for 2, creamed spinage. Standard Wolfgangs, Peter Lugers meal. It couldn't have been better!
I'm a fan of Wolfgangs but NOT this one on 54th. Reception by hostess was cold and impersonal and the server very similar. Despite two bottles of expensive Barolo and 3 big steak dinners wasn't enough to get a smile or any personality. Also the food is fair at best - the usual signature German potatoes a greasy mess. I usually go to the original Park Ave location where it's always been very good but this second visit to 54th was cold and flat. Disappointing.
All in all a good Steakhouse (like one of the "classics" e.g Peter Lugers or Smith Wollensky)
The Noise Level at this location is not acceptable! You cannot talk to each other with that much noise! Next time I`ll prefer the Park Avenue location again. Thank you.
In my travels nationally for the last 25 years I and my business partners agree that Wolfgang's is undoubtly the best staekhouse in the country
During those years we have been to all the recognized highend staekhouse and independents, Wolfgang's is thew clear winner
