Wife and I were taking a night away at nearby Half Mile Farm, and she chose this place based on reviews. It did not disappoint! Everything we had was high quality and great tasting. I recommend the onion soup. She had a filet (which was cooked exactly to order and was super tender). I had the beef short rib, and it was the best I've had. The service and atmosphere were great. We'll definitely do a nice dinner there the next time we're in Highlands.
A must for anyone visiting the Highlands. Food and service was top notch.
I started with the pecan crusted Shrimp and my husband had the lamb pops. Both were great. The service was spot on. If you are in Highlands I highly recommend this restaurant.
Great food and service. Very pleased. Veal and crawfish was excellent. Trout was also excellent. We were well taken care of as well.
My wife and I dined at Wolfgang's our first evening on a birthday trip to Highlands, and we were somewhat disappointed. First of all, we had trouble finding the front door of the restaurant, though that's probably our fault, not theirs. They did have our reservation, and we were seated promptly. I ordered one of their signature cocktails, and while it was good enough, it did seem awfully weak. But the real disaster came when we ordered some wine. Wolfgang's presents itself as a wine bistro, and they have an impressively long list, leading to high expectations. When I chose a nice seeming (not cheap) Pommard, I was told it would be right out. Nothing happened, for a very long time. Finally I managed to attract the attention of the waiter, who said his manager was searching for it. Again, nothing for a very long time. Finally (about 25 minutes after the order was placed), the manager came out and said they couldn't find it, but "here's something else you might like." At that point I gave up and ordered some other wines from the daily menu (not the wine list).
In general the food was good to great. My wife's shrimp and lobster bisque was rather heavy and just OK, and her linguine special with shrimp, feta and mint was fine (though again, heavy). I was luckier: the pecan crusted shrimp were good (though getting only 3 fairly small shrimp for $13 seemed excessive). My venison loin was the star of the evening. It was really perfect: nothing more to say.
Apart from the wine debacle, the service was somewhat spotty (very hard to get anyone's attention some times) but adequate. The venison was really great, along with the accompanying potato cake, but other things were more pedestrian. I'm sure the German dishes are good (the Bavarian sampler looked enticing, and if they make a REAL Wiener schnitzel....), but I can't say I'd recommend the place. There are too many other good restaurants in Highlands.
We are Highlands residents and Wolfgang’s is always one of our favorites!
A crab cake a wedge salad a short rib and a trout with great wine and we were smiling on our way out as usual
Great short rib with mashed potatoes and greens. Attentive service and nice open air covered seating with just the right ambience for date and to talk.
Table was long making conversation difficult. Seating outside was cold and damp, seating inside cold and damp with ACs running to take out the dampness from excessive rain. Food was excellent.. schnitzel and apple cobbler were wonderful. Bisque was also a highlight.
We sat on the back covered patio, which felt like a wedding reception. The food was average and the service was not attentive.
We arrived in Highlands on Monday, and had to use Open Table for reservations because Wolfgang's was not opening until Wednesday. Fresh fish, Halibut, was outstanding. Service attentive, outdoor seating is preferred weather permitting. A most enjoyable dinner.
My husband and I had truly the finest meal in our lives! The food is just superb, well served, delicious and every detail couldn’t have been improved upon! A perfect evening.
Went here for anniversary dinner. Best trout we have ever had. Service was wonderful. The entire evening was special. Would definitely return if we ever are in Highlands.
If you like a steak charred on the outside and bluish red on the inside, their Pittsburg style with a glass of Scots Honor cannot be beat!!! The wife enjoyed trout oscar. Before we left, we made reservations for 2 nights later. That says it all!
Everyone in our party loved their meal. Cucumber soup was delicious as were the lollipop lamb chops. Staff were very attentive. Will definitely come back when we visit Highlands.
Wonderful meal and experience! Can’t wait to return on next visit to Highlands!
Warm, friendly, knowledgeable staff. Excellent food! Going back every chance we get!
EVERYTHING - Fabulous!!!!!
Best food and a great wine list, what more do you need!
We always enjoy dining out at Wolfgang's. The menu choices are diverse, therefore we never run out of options. The service is attentive but not smothering and the ambiance allows for private conversation. It's always a treat.
Great location. Food was good, but not exceptional. Very courteous waiting staff.
We had a very good meal at Wolfgang - there were six of us. Ambiance was fabulous, service was good and the food was very good. Highly recommend the Lamb if you go -- they also did a good job with the fish of the day. A gem in the Highlands!
Husband and I were visiting Highlands for the first time... we enjoyed dinner at Wolfgang’s during our first eve in town. Wonderful start to our trip. Loved the ambiance, food and staff. Definitely a staple for future visits to the area.
The meal was fantastic, from the appetizer to the entrees to the dessert! Highly recommend!
The restaurant is broken up into several dining areas. We were seated in a back dining area that was a bit on the chilly side. The food was very good. Some of the best salmon I have had. Our food arrived as ordered and hot. Our only disappointment was the cleanliness. The ceiling fans are white and very dirty. The light fixtures were also very dusty and had cobwebs in them. While not affecting the food, it made us feel like the restaurant needed a good cleaning.
Terrific eclectic menu with a wide variety of choices. Enjoyed a quiet meal with long-time friends.
My husband and I were vacationing in the Highlands and Wolfgang’s was recommended to us.
Our meal was good. I ate the Beef Stroganoff special and my husband ate the Mountain Trout.
Our wine choice was the Alexander Valley Merlot. We would love to visit the Highlands again and this restaurant.
Super impressed with the extensive wine list and highly recommend the venison.
The best! If you're in Highlands you need to eat at Wolfgang's. Excellent service, Fantastic food and Wolfgang hmself oftens comes out to greet guests between stints in the kitchen. The Shrimp and Grits was some of the best I've ever had. A simple, wonderful mix of flavors. My wife had Wolfgang's veal special which was also terrific. We'll be back Wolfgang!
Chef-owned, Wolfgang's is my favorite "go-to" restaurant in Highlands, NC. The atmosphere is comfortable and casual, with delicious, well-presented dishes. And they make an effort to become familiar with their repeat customers, too, which I like.
Really enjoyed the dinner as we celebrated our 21st Anniversary!
The chicken and chocolate cake were amazing. Great choices of wine. Just a little loud.
Wolfgang's Restaurant is our family's favorite in Highlands. The staff is cordial and knowledgeable and the food is unsurpassed. The wine list is one of the best that we have seen. We have been dining at Wolfgang's Restaurant for years and always look forward to being there. It is a restaurant definitely not to be missed!
Food was wonderful. We celebrated my mother’s 90th birthday and staff and somolier were great and served delicious chocolate mousse as surprise.
Excellent service, excellent food, and fabulous place to celebrate a special occasion!
Second time visiting Wolfgang’s. Bavarian Sampler and Cajun Shrimp was delicious this time. Service is excellent!
Atmosphere was cozy
Food was yummy, not to heavy, healthy choices.
Service was good.
The entire experience was very pleasant.
Never disappointed with the 2 hour drive just to eat here. Excellent menu and consistent taste reminds me of New Orleans.
Easter brunch was off the charts good. Wolfgang knocked it out of the park. THANKS!
