The Mahi Mahi risotto was TO DIE FOR! It’s a must!
The food was amazing! The view was beautiful, and the service was attentive and friendly.
My Wife and I like to go and order about 6 appetizers and 2 entrees and have them serve it as a tasting menu. It’s off the hook, the level of service, quality of good and preparation always exceed our expectations. Simply spectacular.
Best meal of the trip so far! Delicious!!
The one problem I had was not being seated at a desirable table I am accustomed to being seated at a table with a view. The hostess just sat me anywhere maybe it was because I am a single person I also wondered if it was because I used open table to make my reservations and didn't call the restaurant directly. I have run into this when i have used open table before
Best restaurant. Perfect view
Good food and good atmosphere, the big 2 are checked here! Always awesome fresh fish selections AND choices from the land. Burata with Haiku vine ripe tomatoes, off the charts tasty for starters!
Celebrated my husbands birthday. Amazing amazing service. Fantastic view. Delicious food. Our server was beyond nice and professional.
all in all it was amazing, food has so much flavor.. I left there still hungry very small portions..
it was a nice birthday treat,
My waiter was busy but was on top of everything..
He was great..
The location and orientation of the restaurant (facing the ocean) are marvelous. Less so the children who greet you upon arrival with a mixture of boredom and lack of interest.
Service was engaging (if a little unctuous); the food was quite good, bordering on excellent.
Finally, for Maui, an excellent wine list with several good bottles under $100.
Don’t bother with Spago. Although the setting and view are spectacular, there are many better options on Maui for fine dining with a view. The seafood was smothered in too much sauce to enjoy - it was as if the chef did not care much for fish. We had very, very long waits for cocktails to be served - multiple times. I was served an entree different than what I ordered - which the server noticed and admitted when I commented on how different it was than expected. He began by condescendingly questioning whether I had ever had the Indian seasoning on my entree as if about to educate me when he noticed and admitted the error. My wife finished her entree while I waited for my original order. They seemed desperately under-staffed to handle the evening’s diners, so both service and food were negatively impacted. At well over $200 for. Dinner - this was a huge let down for our final dinner on Maui.
It was our 44th anniversary and we could not a better and more lovely view and evening experience. Wait staff was attentive to our every need. Perfect food and sunset made the night memorial.
We are looking forward to another try at Spago Maui, since my wife had not enjoyed the first meal there as much as we expected a couple of years ago. We love Spago's Vegas and were sad to loose our first choice in Vegas, Post Trio, no longer at the Venetian.
The first difficulty was the wind blowing through the open sliding glass doors which my wife found cold and even though staff were gracious and tried to shelter, her, she was never really warm. Staff were first class, but the food was not memorable. The macadamia nut mahi was not up to the usual standard of Maui and the risotto was the best dish of the night. The pork belly was fine, but again not outstanding. Finally, the only problem with service was that when we asked for coffee, the water asked us if we wanted coffee. He asked if we wanted a particular roast, which we had not noticed on the menu. When we said yes, we didn't realize that we were ordering $13 cups of coffee. It felt like the item should have been pointed out to us, since we had already given up the dessert menus.
Sorry for the negative report sicne we are great Wolfgang Puck devotes.
Our server Marco was outstanding!
Weston, our waiter, was just wonderful. He was very attentive without being annoying. He was so knowledgeable about all of the food and drinks, including the wine he helped us choose (it was so perfect that we ordered a second bottle!) The team he had working with him was just terrific. The poke cones were fabulous! Was a very special dinner for 4 foodies. Would go again in a heartbeat!
Excellent food… It’s great to be on the ocean!
Excellent! Loved our Anniversary celebration at Spago’s! Helped make a special day even more special!
A sweet and romantic evening out!
Our risotto wasn't cooked through. Waiter took it away but didn't ask us if we wanted to order another dish.
We barely get any checkins from our waiter. Felt weird for us.
Had an amazing dinner for my fiancé’s birthday!!!
We are not usually into all those fancy foods , big names and weird combinations.
We stuck to the simple items , chicken and the mahi-mahi and potatoes
Probably the best chicken we ever had .
The mahi was good too I just prefer more crusting on it .
Amazing! The whole experience was great.
Mahalo Jeb for another fabulous dining experience. We love bringing our out of town guests to Spago! Thank you for your Aloha towards Kamaaina and our guests!
Impeccable service, great attention, pairings are spot on, food was superb, and the sunset was amazing.
Jeb is above and beyond the best server at any Maui restaurant, make that any establishment I've come across in Hawaii, and as a former Concierge, I've been to a lot of restaurants. He is polished, professional, friendly, knowledgeable, entertaining, worldly-wise, astute and charming. There are not words enough to describe how impressed I am by his service and how he always impresses my guests with his timing, flare and genuine warmth. Blessed are we to have a dinner experience at Spago enhanced by Jeb who elevates the experience to memorable! Thank you....always a pleasure!
Wolfgang Puck’s Hawaiiana menu and excellent service! Elegant and comfortable. Ambience was perfect for our dinner with good friends!
our 3rd time at this restaurant and it didn't disappoint. a tad expensive but very good. service is superb as is the food. I ordered a Hong Kong preparation of a fish that wasn't even on the menu; but they made it anyhow. a wonderful place with great service.
Very expensive for what it is. Very noisy. Not worth a second visit.
The food and service was top notch!
Food was outstanding and service to match.
Best Place on Maui 👍🏼👍🏼
We have dined at Spago many times and had wonderful meals, however, the smoke that wafted into the restaurant from Brazilian Night at Duo below, ruined the evening. The food was delicious, Andy catered to our every need, but we would NEVER go back on a Friday night because of the smokey haze from Duo.
Great bday dinner.
We were really looking forward to a great dinner but left disappointed. The service was not what one expects at a Wolfgang Puck resteraunt in a four seasons. It's almost they were doing us a favor in serving us. Menu items were sold out at 730pm, courses were delivered incorrectly and at different times and frankly it felt more like a casual dinning experience.
The food was meh... The tomato soup was very good but the rest of the dishes were nothing memorable and some even below average. We had the Szechuan fish and its flavour was sold as spicy but tasted like a sauce out of a bottle. The big eye tuna was more of an appetizer size and again nothing to write home about.
All in all it would have been ok for a fast casual restaurant but was not up to the Spago name.
We love to come to Spago whenever we visit Maui. This time we had Jeb as our server and he was fantastic. The entire evening exceeded all of our expectations, from our seats, to the food, to the wine, to the service it was all top notch. Jeb anticipated our every need, and made sure that our food came out at the perfect pace. The food itself was exceptional. Both my husband and I got the fish dishes, my opakapaka was done Hong Kong style and his monchong was done Szechuan. Each fish was cooked to absolute perfection and the preparation styles will be something that we look forward to repeating in the near future. All we can say is WOW and thank you so much Jeb and Spago! You set the bar high!
The ahi Tuna cones amazing the noise level loud tight squeeze inside
Wanted a special night for the family. It turn out opposite so wish it can be better next time. Thank you.
Wolfgang Puck's Spago on Maui seems to have fallen into the trap of putting money first and customers last. Servers were extremely unattentive, ambiance was loud, although many tables were empty. My husband and I had a reservation at 6:15, once seated we ordered appetizers and main dishes and wine, about 10 min later. We got the wine, bread service and water and lived on that for an hour, at which point we let the waiter know that if we didn't get served by 7:30pm we would leave. Excuses were given - "a large group had just ordered before us" (they can't handled that on a ~50% filled restaurant??), the observation that the table of 6 people next to us, seated ~15min after us but served first, was commented on with "but they just got their appetizers". Well, by 7:22pm food showed up - but not the appetizers, just the main dish. At that point we had enough, the evening was spoiled, we called the manager, who was very apologetic, but completely unable to explain why nobody watches the tables and service. My husband asked for the bill, but we didn't have to pay; we promptly left the restaurant, leaving the food untouched. Prior to that I had noticed that a server dropped an entire dish at the feet of one of customers of the larger group (~14 people) - after much wiping, sweeping etc, a new dish was produced, and the manager was seen standing at another table in a very apologetic stance, which I re-recognized when he assumed the same at our table.
So, in summary, not worth the visit, customers are of no importance in that restaurant, and management is unable of rectifying that.
I have a vacation home near the restaurant and my family and I dine at Spago around 12 times a year. The overall quality is inconsistent. Sometimes the food and service are ok, and other times both the menu, the quality of the food, and the attentiveness of the service all disappoint. With this visit we had to ask for things multiple times from multiple people - drinks, a high chair, even the bill. The server seemed to have too many large tables. My mahi mahi was terribly salty and I hardly ate it. I regrettably tipped the server 20% notwithstanding my disappointment. Definitely not worth the $110 we spent per person for a party of 5 adults and 3 children
