About Wolfgang Puck's Spago in the Four Seasons Resort Maui
Wolfgang Puck's Spago offers panoramic ocean views from the bar and restaurant serving California cuisine with Pacific Rim influences and local Hawaiian flavors. Wolfgang Puck's Spago in the Four Seasons Resort Maui Ratings and Reviews
Fantastic and very expensive, but I have yet to leave regretting choosing Spago. Have eaten here several times and plan on returning. The poke miso sesame cones are outrageously good. Attentive but unobtrusive service. A worthy splurge.
Three of our party of four had the special fish. It was overwhelmed by ginger. You could not taste the “delicate” fish. One server asked how our first bites where and we simultaneously replied as much. She said she would tell the cook. Never heard another word. I have eaten at Spago for many years and watched it go down hill much as their Palo Alto venue descended into oblivion a dozen years ago.
By far the worst dining experience we’ve had while visiting Hawaii for 2 weeks.
Decent food and nice view. Service was the down fall that lead to my 1 star review.
I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Hawaii.
Service was attentive and courteous. Starters were great. Wine selection extensive. Ambiance is wonderful. My husband had the Japanese wagyu which he thought was delicious. I had the steamed moi which I was told could be prepared less spicy. However it came out spicy. I didn’t want to have my husband wait for me to receive a newly prepared dish with less spice so I hung on to it and ate most of the rice. That was the only lack of detail of the evening. Sunset was beautiful though.
We had a fabulous meal on the last night of our vacation. It was the perfect send-off from a great week in Maui. Our waiter absolutely made the evening and topping the food is difficult. His knowledge of the menu and wine pairings, chatting with all of us at the table, suggestions on dishes - wonderful.
My husband and I have eaten here several times on various trips, this was the first time we've had our daughter and my parents. Absolutely worth taking them and spending a wonderful Friday evening together. Cannot wait to go back!!
A very spectacular evening at Spago. Perfect table for two with a view of the sunset. Service was attentive but not overbearing so had dinner at a leisurely pace. Server was very knowledgeable about menu and wine list. Food was exceptional - shared sushi cones and wok whole fish. Easily one of the nicest tables in the world and exceptional food to go with it.
We hadChristmas dinner at Spagos 2017. After finally getting a table that we had requested we had a wonderful night. We had probably the best waiter I have ever had!! Food was okay but not exceptional. The meal that was lacking was a whole fish dish. It was a bit mushy a lot of bones and not much meat. The others mains were okay. Excellent desserts, bread and cocktails.
Food was the worst of our trip. Bread was cold, over cooked and hard as a rock when it arrived at our table. We had the Burrata Salad and Ahi poke cones for starters and both were just average. Tuna and Duck for mains. Tuna was alright and Duck was the worst duck I have ever had. Having been to other Wolfgang Puck and Spago restaurants this was not the experience. Also not what I expected from Four Seasons after just having returned from their Lanai property and having wonderful dining experiences this was a huge disappointment.
Having a table outside was really nice, great ambiance. The appetizers were great. My daughter really enjoyed her curry dinner, my macadamia crusted mani mani was nice. The banana bread dessert was pretty good, would have liked a little more caramel sauce. All in all a nice meal.
David was our server that night for my in-law's 52nd Wedding Anniversary and he was absolutely outstanding! He went above and beyond to make sure that us four adults and our two children were happy and satisfied as can be. It is because of people like him that make your dining experience 5-Star. The food was excellent too... ;) Thank you David, you are a gem!
My Ahi was hands down the best I’ve ever had and the wasabi potatoes were wonderful. However the size of my entree could of fed an ant. $46 and I was not even close to full. 6 thin pieces of fish and a smear of potatoes. They offer you bread during your entree so they know their portions are less than filling. Thankfully my husband got the Rib chop. It was perfectly cooked just like my fish and was actually a decent portion. It was a tough day with the wind but service was great. Definitely don’t go here starving.
Somewhat disappointed this time. Food average but would expect better. Table was lovely looking out over ocean and sunset but so close to people next to us that their conversation was part of our entire meal. Please space tables out. Bar wasn't able to make a standard drink due to not having access to tonic water. Sad to see this place slipping.
Spago is best in class on Maui. If you want to have a nice dinner in high end price range, this is your best bet. Other restaurants on Maui charge similarly high prices, but the experience is much better at Spago. Also, get the signature poke cones appetizer.
This is my eighth year in a row on Maui during Thanksgiving and every trip ends with dinner at Spago’s before departure the following day. This year was no different. The miso cones and Thai seafood dish were just as I remembered, delicious. Love the bread server, always a nice selection. The cocktails and wine were spot on. This year we had David (originally from Brooklyn) as our server. Nice guy with great attention to detail. He took my 4 star review of the restaurant to a 5. The menu options are excellent, the service is kind and professional and the ambience, of course, is only found here in paradise. If there is anything that would have made my experience any grander would be the size of my dessert. I ordered the cheesecake with berries and being from the east coast, my expectations were high. The tiny $16 bite size cheesecake arrived and I all but laughed. I was hoping that it was going to be what I was accustom to, a triangular shaped slab of cheesecake to finish off my meal. You know, like you’d get in any NY restaurant. But that was not meant to be. David and I reminisced over our east coast experiences and my disappointment faded into the evening as we said our goodbyes and I made my way out towards the valet. No matter, I’ll be back again next year! Sincerely, The Coffman Party. Mahalo & Aloha
The people at the front in charge of seating customers were not organized
We wanted outdoor seating and they said all tables were spoken for
They finally did get us outside and during dinner we noticed 50. % of the outdoor tables stayed empty so they obviously were not spoken for
We did by the way have a reservation
We are loyal WP fans and have been to this restaurant several times. On this our ‘last’ experience the kitchen was way off! Very disappointed! Very, very disappointed in the food quality and staff inattention!!
And, we had to send back two dishes and staff failed to give any attention to that fact! Again very disappointed!
Cannot imagine we would ever go back.......
The food was fantastic as always. This was our 6th visit while in Maui. Our service was always impeccable until this visit. Our waiter took our order and then didn’t come back until the check. We ordered through another person (who was great) but he had to go tell our waiter before we got the food. It was a shame the our waiter got even part of the tip, after all he was too busy hanging with guys to even know we existed.
Great food and excellent, friendly service. However, they seated our party of 5 at a huge round table for 10, so it was impossible to talk with each other unless we all moved together at one side. Oddly, there was a much smaller table set for five or six right next to us that remained empty throughout our meal. And when we asked at check-in if five friends who had reservations at other tables could join us, the answer was no. So that was strange. But I can't say enough about the staff--so friendly and efficient--and the food was excellent.
It was busy, but it’s a big restaurant and there were empty tales. But we received poor service to start with. Arrived on time for our 7:30 reservation Greeter asked us to go & wait in the bar where we were totally ignored. No one came to take a drinks order including a server walking right past us to serve the sofa beside us. We had to go & ask again what the plan was and she clearly didn’t know we were there. Finally got seated at 8. And after being given menus we were ignored again. Still no drinks! Finally got our drinks at 8:30 & food shortly after. Food was great but the service really spoilt our special night celebrating my birthday.
