Wolfdale's Cuisine Unique
Food and service was A M A zing. From the smoked trout to the special cherry cobbler, everything was delightful. It was a birthday and we got a great seat outside and it was a beautiful night and beautiful setting. The server was so gracious and kind. He was very professional and made us feel special even though he was very busy.
Great lamb shank!!
No other restaurant in Tahoe has been soooo good for sooooo long. The lovely owners Douglas and Kathleen, are always seen filtering through the crowd. They are a great part of the Tahoe City community. Makes us want to move.
Seeking a farm to table culinary experience like Sf or Sonoma. Poor fish quality, extremely expensive. So much could be done better. Service was great but food quality and pricing a disappointment.
best restaurant on the lake. glad to see an updated menu and some old favorites still around.
Everything at Wolfdales is terrific. The entries are all uniquely prepared, fresh, and presented artistically. The Halibut is great and the Paella is terrific. Even their plates are all hand made and beautiful.
Once again, Douglas Dale succeeded in creating a memorable dinner. This is clearly the best restaurant in the area.
Sat outside on deck on a warm Summer night with a vow of Lake Tahoe. What more is there to say?
Great food, great cocktails , great service. Well done!
Love the place
I would ask to be seated in dining room when I make my reservation again. The bar seating tables are very noisy.
Great outdoor view, pretty good meal, just don’t know why you would out bbq sauce on filet mignon and crab.
Birthday! Always excellent, year after year. The best in Tahoe.
Wonderful location, great sunset with a full moon rise - lovely! We sat on the patio and it was very comfortable. The tempura soft shell crab appetizer was light, crisp and fresh, delicious! The gyoza dumplings were perfect, not soggy, and full of flavor. We had 4 different entrees: ossobucco, duck breast, halibut and paella - beautiful presentation and downright delicious to the last bite. The constable specialty drink was a perfect Father's Day cocktail, bourbon and grand marnier, bitters and cinnamon, a new favorite! Great wine and beer selection as well.Staff was extremely attentive yet not intrusive, very professional and friendly. They seem to genuinely enjoy their jobs.
Our experience was just perfect. It had been a couple of years since we had eaten at Wolfdale's, we won't wait that long again!
We loved everything about dining at Wolfdales! Chef Douglas has something truly special here. We did his “Chef’s table” experience for my husbands 30th birthday and received 7 courses of delicious and unique creations - an experience we will forever cherish! The views were outstanding from the main dining room and service was top notch.
One of the best places on the lake. We've been coming up to lake Tahoe for 30 years, and are now living up there full time. Wolfdales had been consistently excellent. Not only is the food fresh, it's cooked perfectly! No dry overcooked fish here. The menu is small but inventive, with an Asian flare. The oysters are fantastic as well. Kudos to Douglas Dale for keeping Wolfdales a place you can always go to for great food for doooo many years!
Loud talkers next to us, and people yelling back and forth from table to table.
Food was fabulous! Will be back!
Hands down the best food and dining experience in Tahoe...and I’ve lived here for 29 years. Always my first choice
Great night with friends I enjoyed the paella but really missing the Thai seafood stew.
Simply outstanding. Food and service is unique and great.
Best spot for fine dining in Tahoe City. Douglas and his crew do great culinary work, provide excellent service, and have great lake views to complement it all. Thank you!
My “go to” restaurant for a first date. Always reliable for service, food & ambiance. Also owners are great folk. Can’t miss.
Absolutely love having dinner at Wolfdale's. The menu is unique. The food is outstanding. The service is personable & professional. My first choice when dining out in Tahoe City!
A terrific lakeside restaurant with a decor and wait staff that made the occasion even better.
The paella was great........others had halibut and gnocchi and they raved. Excellent desserts.
No surprise to us that is a restaurant that's has been in business for so many years. A very satisfying dining experience on our 'trip around Tahoe' day. And clearly a locals favorite.
a very comfortable meal (a good scotch to start). enjoyed the paella much. Was knocked out by the asparagus soup. promised wife we would go for last 2 years, made a special drive to do it (from Sac, not that far). look forward to going again.
SO tasty and the staff was great. I will definitely go again.
It is difficult in a 50 word commentary to capture the quality and special experience at Wolfdale's. With the north Lake Tahoe setting, special Japanese inspired ceramic table settings, and the high quality of the creative food - it is truly "Cuisine Unique". We enjoy every visit and look forward the returning. PS. Picking up a copy of Chef Douglas' impressive Cookbook is work the trip!
Absolutely fantastic experience, view, all of which were exceeded by the food. Has become the new favorite in the area.
Wolfdale's has a beautiful location right on Lake Tahoe. The cuisine is outstanding, along with some wonderful wine choices.
While your restaurant, service and employees where the best, I was disappointed with the wine choice. There was only one chardonnay on the menu and it was an outrageous price. I had one at the bar and wanted another with my meal. If I weren't using a gift card, I would not have bought another wine. Please make your wine list more reasonable and expanded.
AS usual, the food was delicious and Bob Ash's service was outstanding, as always.
Food was outstanding, but plan on paying for the quality. Wide variety of gluten free. Waiter was very conscientious about food allergies. Sat inside. Room small, table seating tight. Service fantastic. Deck was closed, mid April weather still chilly. Parking limited, street parking available.
we had never been to Wolfdale's before and didn't know quite what to expect but it was very special.
The food was exceptional as was the service. I think the seating arrangements were a little awkward. One side of the table gets a view of the lake and the other has a view of the wall and if the tables were turned sideways both sides would see the lake which would make more sense. We had the special of the night for an appetizer , which was flash fried lobster tail which was spot on and my husband had the fish of the night which was ling cod that he enjoyed very much and I had the pheasant stuffed with spinach in a mushroom broth which my husband enjoyed as much as I did. We had bananas foster for dessert.
It was expensive but worth it. We would come back for a special occasion
Unique menu with an asian twist. The food is top notch. We ordered appetizer, salad and main dish with 1 side. The side was more to try it, we honestly didn't need it. Fantastic service. Any time something was finished, one of many people working would scoop it up and whisk it away. The real treat besides the food, as the dishware. It's all handmade pottery, which you can purchase. No dish will match or be the same...and it works. Not an inexpensive dinner, but the pricing was on par with the service and quality. Definitely a place to go for a nice dinner.
Superb cuisine, service and atmosphere! We love Doug Dale!
a classic you can aways depend on
a Tahoe Tradition
chef Douglas Dale is the best!
We've come to Wolfdale's several times and it always is special. The cuisine is indeed unique: fresh and innovative with an Asian influence and options for most any diet. Good wine list and interesting cocktails. Views of the lake from the dining room. Outstanding service, which really stands out in a tourist-dependent town like Tahoe City. Seems like the place for locals who are also foodies.
Wolfdales has lost a step. This is based on the fact that I have been going to Wolfdales for years. Wolfdales is an important pillar of the North Shore and Tahoe City. It saddens me that the quality has dropped. Clearly part of the problem is lack of residential density in Tahoe City environs to support such a formerly fine restaurant. One in our party was struck with food poising. The wine list features a 4 to 5 time markup. For example, a bottle of Sancerre is $98, for which the wholesale price is less than $20. We instead ordered an inferior and undrinkable California Sauvignon Blanc that cost $39. We had to throw it out, but we paid for it. When we complained to the waiter, he got snotty, and said we should expect high prices for wine in the mountains. I can tell you this is not the case in Courchevel. Others in our group enjoyed our starter and entree.
We’ve been going to Wolfdale’s for many years and always had a lovely time. This time the restaurant was really crowded and loud and service was slow. My fish entree had too much mustard sauce and the dessert was pretty mediocre. Not sure I’ll go back.
