Wokcano - Long Beach Ratings and Reviews
I was in Long Beach for the weekend with the mister and he mentioned wanting to come here since we arrived. The place didn't disappoint. Great selections on that menu, attentive service and plentiful servings. In fact, we over-ordered! My one or two critiques would be that the furnishings were a bit worn and tattered. Not what I would expect in such a hip joint.
It wasn't too busy, so we had 3 waiters come by and ask us if we needed anything every so often, so we were never felt ignored. Best hot and sour soup i have ever had- absolutely amazing. Food and drinks were great. The garlic Brussel sprouts are worth getting. Look forward to going back soon!!
As always the food was very good. Unfortunately our sever made many errors getting orders correct for our party of 12. The process of taking and filling our order was a slow process. On a side note Wakcano has no gluten free options therefore no gluten free menu.
Some of the best sushi we had in the U.S. Wokcano came highly recommended from the owner of the condo we are renting in Long Beach for the week. From the time we entered the front door of the restaurant until we left we felt like we were guests in someones home. We will go back several times while we are in Long Beach.
This was their first Sunday brunch buffet, and needs ALOT of work!
Food was cold, food server at the carving station was using his gloved hands to serve; no thongs. Sushi was terrible, I didn't try the oysters or clams; I didn't feel like making a trip to the emergency room.
We had to clear our own plates and ask for water 3 times.
Fruit was sitting in its own warm juices; not chilled or on ice.
Poor food handling and presentation!
I've eaten a wakanoes for years great place , I didn't want to pass on the 1st day ever for the new buffet it was great.
Only issue which was quickly resolved was they wanted to charge $18 for my 1 year old grandson to eat.....a 1 year old doesn't eat ..the play in an item . I said that wasn't good practice and quickly they said it was ok no charge . So if you read this wakanoes don't charge for children 2 and under !!! But it was not an issue loved the buffet was suprised with a 1/2 tail grilled lobster grilled perfectly with a great flavor and garlic noodles ...yummy!!!
I always come for lunch and Like the place. But this night it was empty and dark...it tool forever. I did appreciate the help with our cake. But even as I checked out the manager was very standoff ish. I won't be doing anymore events there maybe lunch again I don't know. The server was nice.
We celebrated my husband's birthday and had a great time! Service was great! They were very attentive and food was served in a timely manner. Food tastes great. We brought our own cake and the staff was very accommodating. We always have a great time at a Wokcano's.
Pros. Food was okay and the prices were reasonable. We did not have sushi or alcohol.
Cons. We made a reservation the day before for 5 and when we got there they tried to
put us in the bar during happy hour and when we said we wanted to be in the dining room
the manager said ok but "that's difficult"?! and we sat there waiting for another 15 mins.
When we did get a table in the middle of the dining area they sat us next to a group of about
20 salespeople who were constantly clapping for one another and taking pictures. The restaurant overall is extremely noisy so don't plan on having a relaxing dinner unless you eat outside. I can get better food with a relaxing ambience elsewhere. Never going back.
