Wok n Fire - Elmhurst - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
We had very bad experience.
Plates were dirty. When we brought it to the notice of server she just shrugged it and replaced it.
When we noticed the replaced plates still has dirt due to lack of proper cleaning, She just replaced it again.
It just killed our appetite.
I've been to other Wok-n-Fire in Addison and S Barrington and had a great experience.
But I will definitely stay away from the one in Elmhurst.
Wonderful, wonderful small sushi restaurant. Very fresh and innovative rolls that were so much fun to explore. We sat outside and our server, Brandy was more than outstanding. She knew the menu perfectly and her suggestions were spot on. Even the martinis and sake were perfect. Highly recommend this restaurant and even though it is 35 minute ride for me, I will most definitely be back.
We took our daughter and her young children here on Mothers Day and she and my wife were each given a rose. The food was very good, and my wife had her very first sushi. My wok-cooked Mongolian steak had more "heat" than I prefer, but that was my own fault for not requesting a milder preparation. The food was very good, the service was excellent, and they went out of their way to be nice to my young granddaughters (2 and 6). And of course my wife and daughter left with roses.
I absolutely love the Basil Chow Fun. Usually, I ask that the wide noodles be cooked crispy and I'm never disappointed. There is an adequate amount of chicken and delicious vegetables that are stir fried to perfection. In addition to the stir fry, we also ordered vegetable egg rolls. Again they were very good. The sauce they were served with was light and delicious as well. I've not had a bad meal at Wok 'n Fire. It's definitely a favorite.
I liked how friendly and helpful the staff was. Me and my date shared 3 rolls. One was kind of loose but they were all filled with fish which is what I like. I complained about some of the rolls and they took it off my bill. Their house made ginger ale was off the chain.
The host & waiter were excellent. Making a reservation is necessary, on a Saturday night, we had one. We found a bit too noisy. It was difficult having a conversation. We truly liked the food. We noticed, while waiting to be seated, a large carry out business. Probably would try another night, not as busy. Will definitely use their carry out.
Love sushi/Asian but it can sometimes get pricey. Had no idea Wok n Fire has Happy Hour special every day! Yes, Monday-Sunday, specials on drinks, appetizers, and sushi - and not boring California rolls but the specialty rolls which are large and full of mouthwatering flavors. Cocktails are great; $5 Martini’s on Wednesday are huge and potent. Service was superb. I will be a regular here!
Great meal, even better service! It's nice when servers are helpful, energetic and have a truly positive attitude about the food served in the restaurant where they work. Ordered the summer BBQ ribs and my friend, chicken teriyaki. We split the garlic spinach which was yummy and had a slight kick, but nothing this lightweight for spice couldn't handle. We split the entrees, which were delicious, fresh and plentiful. The ribs were succulent and meaty, and came with fried rice, a tasty Asian slaw and onion rings. A wonderful plate of goodness! The chicken came with brown rice and wok vegetables, which were fresh and crunchy. We shared the machi ice cream balls which were so good, especially on a hot summer day. I'll definitely be going back. I'm giving the Elmhurst location 5 stars for everything because they are one of very few places that gets the authenticity of Asia down pat, perfectly. If it weren't for the fact that we arrived by car and train, I would have thought we were dining in a little Bangkok cafe. At least as far as the Elmhurst location, it doesn't feel like a chain restaurant whatsoever, which is a plus!
A great neighborhood dinning experience, excellent food and service. My order of brown rice and scallops were very generous and delicious. Its that one place close to home we think of first when dinning out and thanks to Open Table we have no long waiting time for a table. Yes, we will be back!
I have been to Wok N Fire many times but my last experience was not good at all. My first choice from the menu was not available. I then ordered a special maki roll. When it arrived I questioned our server since it didn't appear to be what I ordered. Her reply was "yes it is." Another person in our party remarked that they would have had a second glass of wine, if our server had come back anytime during the meal. Plus it's always really noisy there.
I'll do my best here, we walked in greeted w/a friendly hello and was directed to our seat promptly. The host showed us the seasonal specials and left it to the server. Tj came over smiling and sold the night away and did an amazing job serving. I highly recommend their specials... We had this roll called oki nava... Amazing!! All our food was made with love not to push people out and get on to the next person. We also split a chow fun. But overall I think this place has done everything that most places dream of doing right, their interior was a tad lack luster, paint chips and dings, our table was kinda beat up things along those lines but what it lost in interior it makes up with flying colors elsewhere!
We took a friend of ours to this restaurant for her birthday. She recently removed sugar from her diet and was particularly concerned with not having any in her food. The staff was fabulous in handling the situation. They made a special sauce for her meal and gave her tastings until they got one made that suited her. I've never seen such excellent customer care! I've always experience good service at this restaurant, but this was over-the-top outstanding. They'll always keep me coming back!
We went to the Elmhurst Wok N Fire to celebrate a family birthday. We tried the sushi sampler which included hot sour soup as an appetizer, and then each ordered individual entrees. They included the chicken teriyaki, mongolian steak, szechwan chicken and spicy tuna sushi rolls. Everything was fresh and delicious! Then the waiter brought a special deep fried banana dessert for a birthday treat. It was a very nice celebration!
This was my first time dining at Wok n Fire, Elmhurst. It was a pain trying to find parking, although the restaurant is in a great location! Our server was extremely friendly and nice, but their was NOT ENOUGH STAFF for a Saturday night. Our dinner came out first, and the appetizers arrived 20 minutes later. Our drink/water glasses sat empty for a long time, with no one in sight to request a refill from. The food was decent, but nothing to write home about. The manager did comp 2 of the 3 late appetizers, but too little too late...we won't be returning.
This is one of our go-to spots in Elmhurst. We always get great (if not overly friendly - that would be our only "minor" complaint, if you can even call it a complaint) service, and we love the food. We've never ordered something we didnt like, and there's usually enough to take home for leftovers. Definitely recommend.
