Witherspoon Grill Ratings and Reviews
Six members of my family dined at the Witherspoon Grille for my daughter's 26th birthday. We were seated at a lovely table with a view outside, decorated with Holiday lighting. Everything from soup, salads and entrees were superb! The short ribs, filet and rack of lamb were worth mentioning. Yummy😀 Maurice, our waiter was very attentive. Our daughter was surprised with a candle and dessert provided by the restaurant, along with singing for her birthday. I would recommend the Witherspoon Grille foremost for the food, secondly for the ambiance and decor, and last but not least, for an overall excellent and complete dining experience. Worth the trip!!
Christmas Eve early dinner before Church! Great meal, large portions. Beautiful cozy woodsy decor, lovely bar, great centralized location in town. Parking garage steps away. Everything was great Except, the bread... they could be more creative with warm bread vs cold, rough edge cake-like bread with no flavor... I'd do small interesting rolls with dipping oil or creamy spiced butter to match the rest of the food.
We were there for my husband's birthday celebrate--although he insist not to advertise it. Since my son had to drive we ordered two glasses of wine so we can share just for a birthday toast; the waitress seems not very enthusiastic about the idea and forgot to bring us an extra glass until I asked second times. She was courtesy enough the whole time, but no warm feelings at all. The food were excellent and environment was pleasant though.
I took my daughter and daughter-in-law out for a Christmas Holiday dinner...just the girls! We had a great time...it was a little loud with the live band, but we still enjoyed our time there. Food was great and service was awesome! We also enjoyed walking in Palmer Square and doing a little shopping.
Sadly my reservation did not make it to the restaurant. I did not have my phone to show them your eMail. We were seated but had to rush through our meal so they could honor the next reservation. This was a busy week prior to Christmas so they did try to to accomodate us
We came to Witherspoon Grill for dinner prior to attending a concert at Richardson Auditorium. We were also celebrating the birthday of a dear friend. Despite snow making us arrive 15 minutes late, the restaurant held our reservation, and then lived up to our expectations of a relaxing and delicious dinner experience. Our friend loved it and that was most important to us. The food was wonderful, and the service was great! Especially enjoyed the beet salad and bananas foster bread pudding. Of course our various entrees were delicious as well. This was our second time here, and it will be our restaurant of choice when we are in Princeton.
I don’t think people go there expecting great food. It was fine but nothing special. Salads were ok but the dressings were bland. I had blackened salmon that was dry and way over cooked. The pound cake dessert was basically dry pond cake that was grilled with a tasty cream sauce and strawberries.
We still like the place but the meal we had today was only so so.
Went at 2:45 on a thurs ..
Nice holiday ambiance.
Excellent crab cakes and the trout w burre blanc and chopped salad lite and tasty.
Our waiter Kennedy took good care of us.
2 Parking garages on hullfish & Smith st' s easier than trolling Palmer square area.
Bit pricey, but very good for special occasions or business.
I think that as a group of women having a holiday lunch , we were not given the best table, one by the door by the hostess. The restaurant was fairly empty, yet we were not offered a table on the sunny side of the restaurant by the windows. I usually would ask for a nicer table, but since we are repeat customers, let it go. After 1 hr and 15 min which I feel was not an unreasonable amount of time for lunch, we were done with our cocktails, lunch, dessert and coffee and had paid the bill, probably would have left in 5 minutes, did not plan on lingering, but yet was asked to leave our table by a manager and "take our conversation to the bar" since they had a busy lunch crowd waiting for tables . Did we look too chatty? I again felt profiled as a group of women, since there were many tables businessmen having lunch at other tables just as long as us or longer, that were not asked to leave their table. I did make a reservation, if they have time constraints then they should be posted on the website or mentioned by the hostess. The manager did offer us a cocktail on the house to relocate to the bar, which was fair, but we do not enjoy sitting at a bar and trying to have a conversation in a row talking over each other. We left somewhat annoyed. We may not come back.
Made a 6:30 reservation for a Wednesday night. Arrived around 30 minutes early and was seated no problem. Host staff and wait staff was friendly and made our experience exceptional. Menu had a good variety as my date is a picky eater and she had no issues finding a good meal. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a nice, easy night out.
Witherspoon Grill has gotten into a bad habit of overbooking tables. The bar gets overcrowded as people wait for their tables. We waited 25 minutes, even though we had a reservation. The hostess sent over two appetizers due to the length of our wait. We ordered wine, a bottle of $110 champagne, appetizers and dinner and after less that an hour and a half, the hostess had another patron come to our table and ask us if we were done because he was hungry and ready to eat. Shame on you Witherspoon Grill—very tacky!
Witherspoon is consistently excellent on food and service. It was simply an off night on service standard of excellence. We were seated but never served. Observing tables arriving after us receiving beverages, I felt I needed to return to hostess and request a server be sent to our table after 15 minutes without being greeted. We simply wanted to begin enjoying out night and feel Whitherspoon is consistently a sure bet. When the server did arrive we felt it was not typical experience, drinks remained empty, where we noticed. It's always busy but we never experience anything other than top shelf service. Perhaps it was an off night or perhaps statistically the off night was bound to happen. This was our night, as we fell between the high standards we always enjoy. Will we return...yes of course, simply to feel assured it was a one time thing.
