Wisteria Ratings and Reviews
I took my wife to Wisteria for her birthday last night. When I made the Open Table reservation, there was a box to check asking if it was special occasion. I checked "birthday" and asked for a candle in a little dessert. The day of the reservation, a manager called to confirm our table. When we spoke, I asked him about the birthday request. He went as far as to read the dessert selections and take our order in advance so it would be seamless. We arrived to the restaurant, ate, drank and had a good time. The waitress put down two dessert menus and took our order. I felt sly because of all the advance work I had put in. The waitress comes back and drops a plain dessert like a hockey puck, followed by the check.
Before you dismiss this as someone whining about a first-world problem, consider these two points:
- We don't go to $100+ dinners regularly. It was a special occasion.
- Why ask if there are special requests if you're not going to follow through?
I would have gladly taken her somewhere else to light a candle for her, but I was told it was being handled. It wasn't. Was it the end of the world? No. Was it a let down? Absolutely.
Nobody was permanently scarred by this, but don't tell someone you're going to do something and then flake out. We won't be back to Wisteria.
Wisteria his has been an outstanding restaurant for many years. Jason Hill (owner) and Walker Harper (Executive Chef) have maintained a contemporary Southern menu full of tradition, but rife with exciting interpretations of that tradition. Think black-eyed pea humus with sweet potato chips. And that is just for starters. If you have not been,
then go. If you have been, like me, then you can not wait until the next time.
Theme I had a lot of variety and the food was excellent. We requested no starch (paleo friendly) and they gave us extra veggies. Both are meals were excellent (heritage pork chop and lamb shank). The soup was outstanding. The service was attentive yet unobtrusive.
Greeted with a warm welcome as we entered the restaurant and seated promptly. Mitchell, server, introduced himself and was very attentive and knowledgeable the throughout our visit. The delicious food arrived in a timely manner. The portions were greater than expected and tasty down to the last bite. The restaurant atmosphere was comfortable and classy.
Fabulous as always!!!! We were seated at our favorite table in our favorite server's section! Mitchell is the best! Clifford, the manager, already had it in his notes that Mictchell was our favorite as well as where we liked to sit! There's a reason it's our favorite restaurant!
We had a wonderful dinner at Wisteria tonight! We really enjoyed our appetizers (oysters and calamari) and our meals (pork tenderloin and catfish), and finished off by sharing the warm pecan walnut brownie. Our waiter, Christian, was knowledgeable and pleasant, and provided excellent service (along with other staff that took care of us throughout our dinner). The restaurant is in a building built in the 1920's and offered a very relaxed atmosphere. We will definitely go there again if we are back in Atlanta. Lynne and Rich
I don't normally write reviews but my friends consider me a foodie. The food here was ahhh-mazing. For appetizers, we got the calamari with pumpkin hushpuppies (separately because we have a vegetarian in the group) and black-eye peas hummus. We ordered a second round of the hushpuppies because they were so good. For entrees, my friend got a hodge podge of sides including the Braised Greens Mac & Cheese, Sweet Corn Pudding, and Sweet Potato Souflee, which she enjoyed and said this is some of the best food she's eaten. Me and my other friend got the fried chicken, which was fried just right and the collard greens underneath has a great flavor. An overall excellent meal and as someone who rarely returns to restaurants because there are so many options out there, this one is definitely good enough to return to!
Food was excellent. We ordered the crab bisque, oysters on half shell, puréed cauliflower, beef carpaccio, quail, clam spaghetti daily special, and skate wing. All were delicious and perfectly seasoned and cooked. For dessert we ordered fried apple pie with vanilla gelato, s’mores in a jar, and the brownie. Perfect portions for dessert albeit a bit pricey for what you get. Service was impeccable. Highly recommend!
Dessert was good, but disappointingly small. Yes, dessert was meant to be ordered as a trio for $17, versus 1 at $6. Still, yet, they should have better, more traditional desserts with commensurate prices ($7-$9 range). The bread pudding portion at $6 was hideously small.
This was one of my best dining experiences ever. The food was so tasty and fantastic. The service was excellent and accommodating. They were very busy and still found time for everyone. The staff was always moving! It was loud, but it was Saturday night so completely understandable. The decor was very nice and cool. Private parking with free valet. Extensive wine, beer, and drink list. My husband got the pork and it was the best we have ever had. My crab risotto was to die for! We finished our activities earlier than we thought, so even though we had a 7:30 reservation, they seated us when we arrived.
We were seated by the door. Way too noisy to have any real conversation at tables for two which are long and narrow. My main dish was two pork chops ("bone in and pounded for tenderness") but the bone was only 3/8" think so they weren't pounded much. Poor lighting and heavy gravy prevented seeing the bones making it difficult to avoid them. Ordered a side of sugar snaps that were not even blanched and almost too stringy to eat. Dessert of fried pie (tiny) with $1.50 extra for ice cream, was very good. Go for dessert and sit at the bar. Take $$$
Delicious! Had the fried quail and it was excellent. Biscuit wasn't anything special nor were the grits or corn side I ordered. But the quail was great. Very juicy. Also the sangria was probably the best I've ever had. (Red sangria.) the service was top notch as well. They work as a team and really take care of you.
It was a good experience but I misguided by their online menu. It stated they had rack ribs but upon arrival it was discovered their menu online was for summer dining. It was my boyfriend's birthday and he enjoys racked lamb but was disappointed when they couldn't provide what they advertised. They definitely need to update their menu and accommodate misleaded customers for their inconvenience.
