We had brunch here on the day of the Eagle parade. Great service and decor
The food was very good but the waitstaff seemed overwhelmed since there were only two people working and it was quite crowded.
The service continues to be very attentive but the food is awful. There were fruit flies constantly around our table
Hotel Restaurant should be in the title... but the food was good.
I needed a convenient restaurant that took lunch reservations near 18th & Market Streets. Winthorpe and Valentine worked for a 90-minute business lunch. Two of us had chopped salads, the prospective client had a good-sized cheeseburger. The food was fine, but the service was slow. We were also seated at a high top table with low-backed stools for chairs. I had made a reservation and when I asked for a standard table, I was told there were none available. It made for awkward seating while talking business. I would recommend requesting a standard table if you're heading there for a working lunch. The high top would've been more appropriate if we had been there for Happy Hour.
Server was good took 1 hr to get over cooked meatballs
Our server and bartender were excellent!
There was nowhere to check in so we just sat down
It was inside the Westin Hotel. It was so beautiful. The ambience was decinate. My server could have been a little more friendlier. The food was alright. I rate it a B.
Horrible in-hotel restaurant. Bright lights. Slow service. Orders were wrong. Would not recommend.
Wonderful server. Great ambience. Very good food. Overall, very happy with restaurant.
We had a party of 9 and seemed to overwhelm the food server. We waited a long time for simple things like a beer. The food was very good especially the chicken under a brick.
We went for Thanksgiving and there was no notice that they weren't serving the full dinner menu. The Thanksgiving special was only okay but grossly overpriced at $45, and I never got the soup and salad that were included. My fiancée 's steak and my daughter's burger were both overcooked. Overall, it was a disappointing experience and we won't be back.
The waitress staff was nice but the service was very very slow. There was hardly anyone here. If you're in a rush not the place to go.
The place wasn't very busy for a Saturday night, but was under-staffed. Drinks were slow to arrive once we ordered. Our appetizers arrived with our dinner or, in one case, slightly after. Two people in our party ordered the Salmon (Large Plate) and they were served with different vegetables. Several bottles of wines were out of stock on a small wine list.
very slow service and there were only 3 tables occupied.
Big portions. SLOW service.
Perhaps its because they are understaffed but the service was horrible. The woman who greeted us also seated us, took our order, and brought our food. She also did the same for several other tables. As a result, we waited way too long for any service. The woman was very nice and professional but i waited at least 20 minutes for a glass refill several times, and 20 minutes just to request the check which took her 35 minutes to bring to us. Overall the time we spent waiting for anything was ridiculous. This experience consumed our entire evening and we felt forgotten.
Mouth watering scrambled egg, turkey and avacado breakfast wrap!
Winthorpe & Valentine is a great place for a business lunch as well as other occasions. Great Menu , relatively quiet atmosphere, friendly service.
Our server was very pleasant and the decor of the resturant was nice. However, service was very slow, the food was not cooked or prepared well. The place has potential, but it is not a resturant I would recommend to anyone.
our second visit to this restaurant and the food is good and the service was excellent. Great value in Center City dining
Saturday night and only 1 waitress for the whole place. She also bussed and played hostess. And served drinks. What a shame. The food was good,if you could get service.
If you work nearby it's a good lunch spot. The crab cake sandwich is delicious!
Our food was excellent and our server very pleasant but here's the thing it was one of the longest waits for a meal I've ever had.
Some of our party arrived at 6 and because of an unavoidable delay the rest about a half an hour later by which time the initial group had their salads. The server came right over and greeted the latecomer and we ordered the remainder of the meal.
So far so good and then something went wrong. We told her we had theatre tickets at 8 and she assured us the food wouldn't take too long and proceeded to vanish for long periods. She would appear from time to time and tell us it would be soon, that there was a problem with their computer-how this affected food preparation I'm not sure. The bottom line is that our food did not come out until almost an hour after we ordered, at that point what could we do? We ate it and it WAS delicious but then getting the check was slow and we were by necessity late for our show.
So would I recommend this joint? A very cautious yes....if you have the time for a leisurely meal that you don't mind taking a long time to be prepared. However if you have ANYTHING to do after the meal go somewhere else. The chicken under a brick entree was especially good.
I loved the place! The food was great!! I had the chicken and my wife had the salmon. The chicken was cooked perfectly with crispy skin and was seasoned beautifully. The salmon had a crispy skin also and my wife loved it. My only complaint was that the appetizers were unexpectedly large. This is a bar and the appetizers were bar snacks meant for a crowd. I had the home made potato chips and blue cheese and it was terrific but big enough for a small crowd. The deserts were also quite large. I admit to being surprised at how much I liked the place. As an aside, the dinners were served with six, just out of the oven soft rolls. Really good.
Our attendant was very friendly and she provided excellent service
Lovely, quiet location for a business meeting or quiet, romantic lunch when you can actually hear what is being said. Food is quite nice, although a little pricey, especially given the availability of other qualify spots in the area.
W&V is the Westin Hotel's bar restaurant. My wife and I were staying at the Le Meridian but love the movie Trading Places so we decided we should try W&V. Food was average (3 out of 5 stars) but the service was very well attended by Kendra. The aspect of a restaurant W&V mostly lacked was ambiance but, then again, it is a bar restaurant so what can one expect. With all the great restaurants located within a few city blocks of the Westin, I can only recommend W&V if you're staying at the Westin and you aren't up for leaving the hotel property due to fatigue or inclement weather.
The salmon was cooked perfectly. Got the bread pudding to go and it was great, even the next day!
Best Caesar salad! Good food in general. Most reviewers complained about pricing but you have to realize, it in a hotel and comparable to other restaurants of this nature in the area. Server was great! We went back our second night in Philly just for the salad.
Waitress very good. Food was good, but very limited dinner menu. Expensive for what was offered. Looked more like a lunch menu. The lunch menu had better choices. It took 3 wine choices before they had something in stock. Unusual for a Friday evening. Surprised how small the dining area really was.
Nothing else to say other than it was really big time lousy . . . EVERYTHING.
This is a bar room, not a restaurant. The crab cakes arrived not warm, the burgers were cooked correctly and arrived warm. This was once a wonderful place for dinner, but not now. Gone is the fireplace and the quiet dining room. The area has no clearly indicated entry point, so people walked between our table and the next. this was annoying and unpleasant. We won't be back, that is for sure.
I enjoyed most of the food that I had, but was kind of disappointed in the restaurant. At the end of the day I had some ok food in a Hotel Lobby Bar. Nothing special when you have so many kinds of food choices in Center City
Seemed to be a tad pricey, but amazing food and the service was phenomenal. Food wait was a little long.
Nice setting in the hotel ; was never showed a wine list, vegetables were hard, such that you needed a fork to cut the carrots and broccoli, our salads were drenched in dressing and the prices for alcoholic beverages were way on the high side. Will not be back.
There was no ambiance for a restaurant inside an upscale hotel. There was only one waitress and we had to wait too long for our food. The food was good but we won't go back.
While the menu reads like a
Competitive fine dining establishment in the city, the kitchen fails to deliver the same. The $16 cheese board had about $.50 worth of cheddar and Romano cheese on it... The meatball, yes, one $8 meatball in "3 hour sauce" was tasty.... My husbands brick pressed chicken tasted fine but lacked in plating... I ordered the shrimp risotto with seasonal vegetables which was by far, the poorest excuse for risotto I have ever seen. Cheesy, sticky rice with 5 shrimp and parsley thrown on top is not shrimp risotto - oh and not a vegetable to be found in this dish. We each ordered the carrot cake ($7 each) and were disappointed by the overly rich slices of dense cake we were served... $95 dinner for 2 people and we only drank water. Lackluster at best - and the single server on a Friday night was sweet.
Great place to meet with clients and enjoy a good meal while handling your business.
