We chose Winsor House to celebrate our 10th Anniversary and was so pleased with our choice. Our server was professional and so sweet! We were seated at the fireplace which was especially cozy and romantic. The chef even sent us complimentary glasses of champagne! The entire night was perfect from beginning to end. Our meals of Bolognese and Steak were delicious and perfectly prepared. Thank you for making our Anniversary so special!
Risotto today was undercooked, flavor was good but not well cooked. Felt neglected by the staff. Maybe you guys were under staffed. Not sure. Really noisy. Totally difference experience than what I had before.
The Windsor House is a beautiful, warm building and the pub is particularly comfortable. I started with a perfect French martini. The crunchy haddock with French fries were cooked perfectly. Delicious! And we shared a wonderful chocolate bread pudding, dense and rich and completely indulgent! The acoustic guitar player was the perfect entertainment, too. We enjoyed a wonderful evening.
Ordered appetiser which never arrived! Ordered plain kids burger, very specific, "nothing on the burger", arrived with cheese. Ordered sprite got soda water!!
Warmly greeted, very nice setting.
Our server was among the worst I've ever experienced. Not attentive, not friendly. Food was slow out of kitchen and not paced well at all. We would have spent more money if our waitress had noticed we needed drinks as we waited for our food. From the time my wife ordered her second glass of wine until she received it she had finished her meal. Waitress should have taken it off the bill.
Was perfect, our first time over for St Valentine’s day. Definitely coming back. Ambience, the music, fireplace, the service and the food was fantastic.
Service was terrible
We enjoyed our dinner and service was wonderful. We have been going to Windsor House serveral times.
Lovely okd fasioned setting. Service alwsts good. Food goid. Love the charref shisito pepoers!
The food is consistently good. That's why I keep coming back. The service is bad. Bus boys and waitress don't know the basics of table service. For example, when serving an entree and each person has had an app, clear the dirty dishes before putting the new dishes down. You DO NOT put the new dishes ON TOP of the used ones. Or, when serving coffee, offer sugar. Don't assume the customer will go to the bar to ask for some because you have never come back.
Service reflects very poorly on management and ownership. Bad, bad bad.
Overall this restaurant was good, good food, good service, ambiance was nice. We went on a very cold night and the building is old so it was very cold inside.
I took my girl friend to the WHI for dinner on New Year's Eve. Overall our experience was great. I had the Prime Rib, which was excellent, with green beans and crispy potatoes. My girl friend had the filet was some type of sauce that was outstanding (I obviously had to try it). The only complaint was it was a little chilly in the main dinning area and I noticed a few people eating with their jackets on. Other than that it was a spot on way to end 2017. Overall 9/10
Dining room was freezing. Many diners ate with scarfs and/or jackets on entire meal. Headlights of cars entering shined constantly into room.
Upon leaving, we took time to look around whole restaurant and found they actually have two dining rooms AND it was warm and had a fireplace.
We mentioned repeatedly how cold we were to our waitress and would have appreciated being told there was another room to eat in. Was very hard to enjoy the meal wearing coats.
The temperature New Years Eve was maybe 10 degrees and inside the main dining room it was maybe 60 degrees! We were all so cold, the restauruant had placed a party of 2 directly in front of the fireplace- they were too hot and no heat reached the rest of the patrons. i would not recommend this restaurant if the temp is below freezing, they were not prepared for this special evening to keep patrons warm!
This was our first time at the Winsor House with the new menu, and it did not disappoint! I had the beet salad, which was beautifully presented, well portioned and delicious with a mix of beets, goat cheese, candies pecans and poached pears with the right amount of vinaigrette. My husband had a Caesar salad, which was good (if not particularly special) with a generous portion size. I had the bone in pork chop for my entree, and I’m definitely going back soon to have it again! It was perfectly cooked and served over polenta with crispy Brussels sprouts. My husband had the bolognese which has long been a favorite of ours - still great. We split the chocolate bread pudding for dessert, which was good. The bread pudding was warm and not too rich, and it is served with vanilla ice cream.
We have eaten at the Winsor House many times and have always had an excellent experience. On Saturday evening before Christmas it was very, very busy. The kitchen could not keep up and the waitress was extremely overwhelmed. (Not her fault. She did the best shecould) The appetizers and dinners took a very long time to arrive . The waitress kept coming over and saying soon and five more minutes. She was apologetic. They did not have a glass of wine available on the menu or a bottle that we ordered from the menu. Our appetizers and meals were fine but not the experience that we are used to at the WinsorHouse. We were told that there was a private party in the dining room. I think this may have compromised the dining experience of other patrons. We’ll definitely try it again but not on such a busy night.
It was extremely busy but we were greeted by the hostess and promptly seated. I felt the tables were too tightly packed together, resulting in servers constantly brushing the back of my chair...you know the feeling. But the food all around was good, server was efficient and helpful and the owner stopped by the table to check in on us. I'd definitely recommend it.
Food was delicious! All four in our party were happy with their meals.
The service was very good. I believe our server was named Stu. He was very pleasant, attentive but not constantly coming to the table.
One small problem was that I had specifically requested not sitting in the middle of the room and that is where we were brought. It was fixed though, once I asked the hostess to sit us elsewhere.
Everyone should have an opportunity to enjoy the absolutely delicious food and drinks. I've eaten at some of Boston's Finest and hands down this food is like eating luxury.
It was our second Thanksgiving here
We received a warm welcome ,un-rushed
service from an attentive staff. The food was delicious and appropriate for a New England
Thanksgiving. The dinning room was never overcrowded . The dinning space was light, open and all in all ,a great experience.
In my experiences, short of home, I cant imagine a better place to have Thanksgiving.
I will return
Wonderful food, comfortable ambiance, cozy and very friendly. Will definitely be going back frequently!
Food was very good as usual. First time there on a Saturday (6:00 reservation). It got really noisy by 6:30 and hard to have conversation. Some inconsistencies: Same drink ordered twice and second time 2 x larger than the first. Waiter said it was a different bartender (her favorite). Also I love the charred Shishito Peppers appetizer. Had them a few weeks ago with 2 friends and had a good size serving with more than enough for 3 to share. Had them this last time and only had about half the amount. Otherwise a good evening. I would go back.
Good local spot. Waiter was not attentive. He was glib when taking order and but hard to find when we needed anything or wanted to cash out. It is a convenient place with solid, if unimaginative, food. But without good service the evening fell flat.
We arrived at the Winsor House and were greeted by a friendly hostess, who welcomed us and said Happy Birthday. We should have left then, because that was the LAST positive experience of the evening out. We were seated in a room with a couple of other tables that were occupied. Servers came in and out of the room, but ignored us for 15 minutes. Then someone came and filled our water glasses. No introduction, no explanation. He did take our drink order and told us our server would be along. She brought our drinks, and again, no greeting, no introduction. We ordered starters, which were delivered by teen age boy who said” where do you want this?”. Not a nice experience. When the main courses arrived, the young man had no idea which person should be served which entree. Again, he asked “Who gets this?” We ordered another round of drinks, and the waitress brought 1 and said something about bringing the rest later!
We declined dessert, which I was e cited about because it was my birthday, and coffee and left. I emailed The Winsor House and have had NO response.
I will never return and I am going to discourage anyone to choose The Winsor House Inn for any occasion.
Service was wzrm znd humorous. Shishito appetizer delicious ! Entrees very good. Will definitely go back
Still a very great place to dine after all these years . Very friendly and they even put up some halloween decorations
A welcome return to some of the old menu items! The menu is small but not limiting. The bar area was bustling and it had the feeling that it had returned to its roots.
Excellent food, excellent service and wonderful atmosphere!
I went to the Winsor House for dinner with 4 friends a few nights ago and everything was perfect. We were originally going to sit in the carriage house but instead had a beautiful spot in the dining room. We were in a corner by ourselves with a fire going close by. We completely had our privacy and felt like we were in our own private dining room. Dinner was excellent! Everyone raved about their entrees....crab cakes, fish tacos and scallops. I had the chicken(can't remember the name) but it was lightly breaded with salad and fresh grated parm on top. It was THE BEST! Service was excellent...very fast and a cheerful pleasant server. We actually had such a good time that we were 2nd to last to leave. Highly recommend the Winsor House!
Best fish and chips ever.
Ambience very New England.
Service excellent.
They’re back!! The menu has been reworked and now offers a combination of old favorites and new flavors. The food was excellent and delicious.
Enjoyed the ambiance and service. The Manager Ann was very hospitable, our server, Jamie, was top notch.
The food was good, there was a problem with one entre the steak Fritz. We ordered rare and it came well done. Ann offered to replace it,but we did not want to wait.
Seems the chef does not listen to wait staff requests. The steak was also disappointing in that we thought it would be a small steak, instead it was very tough steak tips.
Understand why this is considered a local gem. Very nice menu for sharing, dining room options, accommodating hostess and excellent service from Kelly. Seafood reigns, along with anything from their own garden.
We were concerned when we read the reviews from the last few months. However, none of the complaints were seen while we were there on this busy Saturday night! Service was great, we were seated quickly and asked bar or dining room (too cold for outside), etc. We did notice the menu change, but were surprised by the number of full meals available after what we read. And the size of the servings were certainly back to normal. So, may be there were some problems but they do not seem to be there any longer. Excellent evening. The clams, scallops and steak were fabulous and outstanding.
I made a reservation on Open Table on to find when I arrived at the restaurant they did not open until 5:00 pm. The reservation was for 1:30.
Not sure what happened but I drove 40 minutes to get there.
My husband and I (and our 6 month old daughter) had a lovely dinner at the Winsor House Inn. Everything from the service to the food and atmosphere were perfectly lovely.
Very disappointing. Entrees overdone, dry. Poor service. I asked them if they are short staffed, and our waitperson said that it's been terrible - they can't find people to hire, he said. We've been to WH quite a few times but won't be back anytime soon. Solstice and Port Bistro in Kingston and The Tasty in Plymouth are far superior. Sorry!

Had a great evening dining outdoors--food was delicious and the atmosphere was lively.
Loved it!
Had a great time and meal. We did have an allergy in the group and the server could have been more informed on the matter.
There were several things that made the experience NOT enjoyable. The hostess took a while to seat us outside. We had to wonder if she was coming to get us to do so.
We had to wait 50 minutes to get our ordered appetizers and food. The wait staff was young and inexperienced. We also had to ask for bread. The food was pedestrian and portions were small. The waitress asked if we needed anything and we were enjoying the meal after we finished the meal.
Needless to say we won't be back.
