Wine Cask came highly recommended by a friend and the meal etc did not disappoint. We got married at the Courthouse and then had our celebration dinner there. Everything was delicious and the ambience was fancy enough for the occasion! Our server surprised us with a champagne toast on the house too. We really appreciated that!
I love love love the Wine Cask! The Embiance is romantic and elegant! The food was deliciously superb! We had leek and potatoe soup, the duck, shortribs and the warm chocolate chip cookie! Everything was scrumptious and the service was impeccable!
Had a wonderful evening. Enjoyed the chefs tasting menu and wine pairings. Very fun and delicious.
Such a rare treat to have both *excellent* staff awareness about celiac disease *and* so many high-quality options. I honestly couldn’t pick one favorite dish I had, but the scallops alone were definitely worth going back for.
Food was very good. Service was mediocre at best. Forgot something we ordered and was non attentive.
I have to agree with other recent reviews. Great service and ambience. I dined there for Valentine’s Day and the menu consisted of some regular menu items and some specials. I had the duck confit salad for my first course and the filet for my entree. The duck was overly salted which was disappointing. Otherwise, I would have really enjoyed the salad. The filet was served with asparagus and potatoes au gratin. Temperature for filet was great was well as seasoning. The potatoes were over salted as well. Dessert (creme brûlée) was underwhelming with a very thick sugar crust. Overall, disappointing but consistent with other reviews. So I wasn’t surprised. I was just hoping for a different outcome. My date was underwhelmed as well.
Special dinner for Valentine’s Day. All was very good.
Perfect Valentine's date with my wife. We ate an early dinner (because I didn't plan ahead!) but it was wonderful. Our waiter was informative, funny and was clearly a foodie. Love this place.
Delightful Valentine’s Day lunch.
They just can't get it together. While practically empty, we had to repeatedly ask for water and bread (which came with the check). The food itself is bland, uninspired, and overdressed. What happened to one of the best restaurants we had in the City, if not the whole West Coast?
I love, love, love the foie grass. My steak tartar was not exactly the way I like it prepared, needed a raw egg and some scallions or onions for crunch and zing. The service was excellent, our server left both of our plates until we were both finished, a rarity today to see things done correctly.
1st class dining. Quiet, superb service. Excellent food and wine selection. Our favorite dining for the two of us.
Warm ambience. Food was excellent and the presentation was interesting and beautiful. Service was excellent. A wonderful dining experience.
Old & stuffy! Food was great, just too bad service & hospitality was not.
Amazing Birthday dinner, enjoyed it so much, staff was great, will definitely be back!
Christmas dinner and menus was very good and nice
Food and ambiance v nice. Service ok - no pepper offered on salad until finished.
Pork and creme brulee outstanding
Food was good but it seems like my food is being serve quickly as if I was eating in a fast chain.
We found the restaurant during a one-night stopover in Santa Barbara, thinking it was a bistro that would provide a light dinner and some wine. It is much much more, with great ambiance, food and wine. Even better, the service is excellent.
For a restaurant that is all about wine the staff and sommelier couldn’t take less interest. They have a new chef who used to be sous who is not on an A game. It seems like a restaurant resting on its laurels and history. Flavor precision was lacking. Over brined chicken. Starchy crab cakes and mushy risotto to name a few.
Excellent vegetarian dinner. Friendly, knowledgeable service.
We loved our intimate corner near the bubbly fountain. Very memorable food we both enjoyed from first to last bite.
Five Stars (six for ambiance)...friendly service, fireplace. Very classy.
Formal elegance suitable for a business dinner or special occasion. Quiet. Service cordial and attentive except waiter forgot to check in with us until we were essentially done our entrees. Extensive wine list with some gems. Steaks were cooked properly but not very flavorful. Desserts top notch.
Classy , always great quality and service excellent for impressing business people or high end out of town visitors.
While everything was very good, I would prefer that birthdays be totally ignored rather than acknowledged with a "cute" little note on a generic birthday card. I think ignoring it is less tacky than the card in an upscale expensive restaurant. A cupcake from the local market would have been better.
From our arrival and greeting to the finish, completely memorable for the very best of reasons,
Excellent food and impeccable service.
As always, a pleasure to spend a few hours with friends in a relaxing atmosphere with good food and service.
Wonderful menu and great atmosphere, highly recommended.
This is a quiet restaurant which is increasingly difficult to find. You can actually carry on a comversation. Excellent food with very nice presentation. Put it on your list!
Excellent food and ambiance. A great dining experience.
Food excellent except lamb was too rare. Love the new interior design and orientation.
Had lunch in the courtyard. Very pleasant, service was attentive but not too pushy. Nice selection for lunch. Great wine list. Very enjoyable and will return on our next visit to SB.
It was an outstanding evening. The food was great and the service impeccable.
Wine Cask is a favorite whenever we are in Santa Barbara. We have had some amazing meals and some very good meals. The menu is always changing but can be counted on for quality.
They also have a very good selection of wine as you would expect.
Have eaten here several times over past couple of years with much better results. Was a big disappointment this time around. Salad was basically way under-dressed and tasteless. Octopus was tough and nearly non eatable. They comped us on it when we gave our critic, which was very fair. The Branzino was good, but not over the top and very small portion. Have had much better at other SB restaurants. The Shrimp/Gnocchi dish was nothing special and couldn't finish it . Service was very good from moment we arrived and throughout the meal.
Very good food. Foi gras was disappointing. The rest was very good.
In the 1990s the Wine Cask was considered one of the top two or three restaurants in SB. The bread only good thing to eat.
