Wine 30 Ratings and Reviews
I did really love this place and I do stand by the wine selection and ambiance being great. However for the SECOND time my party was seated at two different tables without the other one being told that we've arrived. I often book reservations for clients and so this is very worrisome, not only that it's happened twice in two weeks but that when I called the host / maitre'd didn't seem that perturbed by the trouble. One of the people in my party this time actually left after thinking they were waiting for someone who didn't show for 20 minutes. Mistakes happen but twice in two weeks without attempting to make up for the error is unacceptable. Beware with making reservations here I'd say.
Wine:30 was a disaster. I made a reservation for New Years Day through Open Table and when we got to the restaurant on time we found Wine:30 CLOSED. And, to add insult to injury, the weather was 16 degrees. Happy New Year?! When I called Wine:30 later in the day I was told they had the reservation but had no plans to be open at that time and could provide no explanation as to why the reservation was accepted. An apology for the error was not offered. Bad, bad, bad. I also sent to an e-mail to Open Table on 1/1/18 about the snafu and still have not heard back from Open Table despite the e-mail I received back that they would answer quickly. To be honest, Wine:30 & Open Table share accountability in this situation. I use Open Table to find trusted restaurants and to guarantee a reservation. I'd honestly like to hear from Wine:30 and Open Table as to why this happened. I also feel customers of Open Table deserve that level of respect.
Came in for a pre-show dinner on Christmas Day; our waiter, John, was amazing, giving us great suggestions and making great conversation. Made us feel very welcome and made dinner an experience. I had been before and was very happy to have brought my out-of-town friends here.
A google search of the best wine bars in NYC came up and it did not disappoint. We had Brian as our server and he was ON. POINT. He told us about a wine special they had for a Brunello that was getting close to its end of life. We ended up getting 2 bottles and tried all the food recommendations he made too and everything was AMAZING. The short rib was fabulous and even down to the cheese recommendations were awesome. If the weather allows, sit out back, the ambience on the patio is fabulous!
When deciding where to meet for dinner, my friend requested that we sit outside with a glass of wine and share some charcuterie so we decided to try Wine30. Everything was great - lots of cheese and shareable/tapas-type eats. The ambiance is cozy and nice. Service was great. It was the absolute perfect place to go and sit outside on one of the last few nights of summer.
I booked this place based on the reviews so I feel I need to give a review so other people aren't led astray like I was. The location and place is lovely, however, the food is not! We order a bruschetta that was cold and burnt, muscles that we had to send back because they were bad, a crab cake that we couldn't eat because it was gone off but felt bad sending that back too, peppers which were tasteless and zucchini pancakes which were ok. Generally the food was bad or ok but having to spend $70 each and go home hungry isn't good! Won't be going back.
service was great. they accommodated a big group of us for a birthday. the outdoor back patio is beautiful! try to get a seat there if you can.
i only had the quinoa salad and that was okay. i'll have to try the other menu items to really rate their food, but my friends seemed to enjoy the food.
$3 pp for plating if you bring your own cake (for a birthday event).
Very nice restaurant and the staff is very friendly and accommodating! We had the beef sliders, rolled cigars (prosciutto, sundried tomatoes, & basil), and three kinds of dip with homemade tortilla chips! We sat towards the back as it was cooler (my only suggestion is to dress cool because it's not a really cold place!) and drink lots of cold wine to cool off! The ceiling is creatively decorated from wine bottle corks! We will be back!!!! 😊
I've been to Wine 30 several times and it's always a great experience. I love coming here after work for a happy hour date with a friend. Great for a few glasses of wine a snack from their cheese menu or app list. They have a limited dinner menu, but everything I have ever ordered here was delicious. I also love sitting in the back garden area. The restaurant looks small from the front but is actually really roomy!
Loved this place. We went before a show at the Garden. It's within walking distance of the Garden without being too close and overcrowded as those places close to the venue. The menu is so varied it's hard to know what to choose. Everything we had was great. The front area is near the bar. The room behind is more quiet and the garden in back is very pretty and will be great for summer dining. We will return and hopefully sit in the garden. If there is one negative, I'd say it's the bathroom. There appears to be one bathroom and it's in the middle of the dining room and has a sliding barn door. I was able to hear people using the hand dryer while sitting in the dining room. That was a bit odd, but still wouldn't keep me from going back.
The evening started off really nice. While the place is very small (get ready to hear your neighbor's conversation), the staff is awesome. They have GREAT wines. In fact, several of my favorites are on their list. While the sticker shock for a couple might hit you, they offer wines not usually sold at restaurants, so this could have been my go to for a special occasion. I was impressed. Then it happened. The couple next to our table was so vulgar. They made out the entire time, and it was inappropriate. I was surprised the staff didn't mention it. A hand touch or a kiss as they got up would have been fine, but this was all out make out session, circa 1993 in the back row of the movies (wait, am I telling my age). I hate to take points away from the restaurant for that, but since they didn't stop it, I can only imagine that it could happen again. I wonder if others commented. I would never bring children here. It is not a place for kids. Not just because of the potential for a freak show, but because of the menu. It is a very mature menu (which I loved). Great wine and good food.
We went to Wine30 for brunch with a group of 10. There was plenty of space and availability, which was nice. The server was awesome, super accommodating and willing to make adjustments when desired. The food and drinks were good and not too expensive. This is a great place for a casual lunch or brunch on the patio.
One note - outdoor dining was very nice on a sunny day, birds pooped on our table twice (once on my friend). So that is one thing to consider. Not the restaurants fault at all!
