California Pizza Kitchen - Park Avenue South - PRIORITY SEATING
Our lunch, brunch and dinner menus change seasonally and use only the freshest ingredients from small purveyors and local farmers markets.
Wine:30 began as a thirty seat establishment and has grown to a 170 seat restaurant. We have a bar, general dining area, an all season garden, and a beautifully excavated wine cellar.
Please note that we only accept reservations for Dinner. For drinks and appetizers it is first come first served.
I really wanted to like this place. My husband and I had been tirelessly working all day (well, actually non-stop for days) on a huge project we were launching for our nonprofit to help the homeless, including putting together 150 backpacks to give out. So, I was looking forward to a relaxing and nice dinner.
And, really, that's what this place SHOULD have been.
But, for me, service and atmosphere are as important as the meal.
Now, I preface this by saying, I am not, and never have been a jealous person. Quite the opposite. I find it flattering when guys find my husband attractive. It's often cute. He's adorable. So, when both waiters (yes, we had two for some reason ... ) flirted with him, and gave him a little attention it was cute and charming.
BUT, it didn't stop there. For all intense purpose, I seemed not to exist at all. Everytime they came to the table, they completely ignored me. It is rude, and bad service.
For instance, I ordered the ginger-garlic shrimp. It was awful. It was rubbery and hard to chewy and really bad. So, I tried flagging them down to no avail. (Mind you the place was pretty empty.) Jayson barely even looked their way, and boom, they were there.
I try explaining the issue and blank face. Jayson explained it, and they were apologetic, to him. Hello, it was my order. This went on all night.
I literally sat with two empty water glasses for 15 minutes, waiting for a glass of ice that I asked for. It was only after Jayson asked for me about the water and ice, that they got it, and then apologized to him, not me.
It not only RUINED dinner for me, but did the OPPOSITE of relaxing and calming. I was so irritated when we left. There is no reason ever to treat a diner that way, especially since I was paying the bill.
So, where we probably would have gone back and given it another shot. There's no way I'd ever go back there. In a city with so many other restaurants, a restaurant like this really should do better at giving good service.
Great spot with delicious food, a good wine list and cozy ambiance. The only downside we saw were the noise levels (not sure how much the restaurant can do to control these, but it got very loud).
When I entered the restaurant I was greeted by someone who seated me. Then I sat at my table for more than 10 minutes without anyone coming over to the table. Only when the check was delivered to me did someone actually look at me and smile. A very unfriendly place. Go elsewhere.
Adorable back patio. Great food and wine. They gave us a taste of the various wines we were thinking about buying. The tacos were amazing!!! Would go again in a heartbeat.
Wine was great. Food was OK. Vibe in the back section is really good.
We were taken care of by Long he was great really enjoyed the evening.
GREAT service and food. Chose many appetizers and shared a main dish. Shrimp, lump crab cake, zucchini pancakes, 3 vegetables and shortribs. Wine choice was good. Recommended by Waiter over house wine, gave taste of house wine to make decision.
Shamefully bad wine etiquette. Do not be fooled...these guys are amateurs with no knowledge of wine or customer service.
Lovely outside patio. A hidden gem on 30th streer. Really delicious food.
Wine is a bit overpriced - but it‘s Manhattan and the place is lovely..!
Mother’s Day lunch! Great food and environment
Love wine30. Been there a number of times and very time service is great, food is fantastic, atmosphere is perfect
And to that a birthday celebration that they handled every request I sent, that was amazing!
Great little neighborhood place! Around the corner from our hotel and found this lovely little patio out back with very friendly service and good food!
Great staff and wonderful find. Food was good, we had a great cheese plate with our wine. We were lucky enough to get a quick tour of their basement/wine cellar that is also rented out for small group private parties and events. Would definitely go back!!
Great dinner with friends. Food was delicious. Long was our server and he was the best!
Perfect for a small group who have different preferences of food (there’s a little bit of everything on the menu). We loved the beef tacos, “American Burrata,” pasta with shrimp, and custom cheese plate! Originally, we had wanted to do dinner on a rooftop or terrace with it being the first warm day in NYC for a long time, and even though we couldn’t snag a table elsewhere, we thought Wine 30 had a great combination of sophisticated indoor/outdoor seating (the pics don’t do it justice). We would totally go back!
Great food and service, three dining areas, all intimate.
Two friends and I had a Friday dinner in the cozy, heated back garden recently. Our waiter was FANTASTIC! Unfortunately I don’t recall his name, but he was tall, bearded with a German accent. His recommendations were superb, and he was attentive and charming. I had the short ribs, which were melt in your mouth delicious. Both of my friends enjoyed their meals greatly. The chenin Blanc recommended at the bar was crisp and light.
We topped it all off with yummy creme brûlée. Delicious food, expansive wine list and fabulous service. A+
The staff were super accommodating to our kosher needs. I would go again if they started to offer more kosher wines.
Stumbled upon this place after a fashion show. Very impressed. Great food, Service and Ambiance.
Lovely extensive wine list and reasonable pricing. We had a cheese and meat platter and spinach dip. All delicious.
I did really love this place and I do stand by the wine selection and ambiance being great. However for the SECOND time my party was seated at two different tables without the other one being told that we've arrived. I often book reservations for clients and so this is very worrisome, not only that it's happened twice in two weeks but that when I called the host / maitre'd didn't seem that perturbed by the trouble. One of the people in my party this time actually left after thinking they were waiting for someone who didn't show for 20 minutes. Mistakes happen but twice in two weeks without attempting to make up for the error is unacceptable. Beware with making reservations here I'd say.
Always great for a date night. Great wine selection, yummy bites and great service.
Service was incredible and food was delicious as well! Will definitely go back. We loved the feel of the restaurant too. Great place!
Always a great time, delicious wine selection, great vibes
Wine:30 was a disaster. I made a reservation for New Years Day through Open Table and when we got to the restaurant on time we found Wine:30 CLOSED. And, to add insult to injury, the weather was 16 degrees. Happy New Year?! When I called Wine:30 later in the day I was told they had the reservation but had no plans to be open at that time and could provide no explanation as to why the reservation was accepted. An apology for the error was not offered. Bad, bad, bad. I also sent to an e-mail to Open Table on 1/1/18 about the snafu and still have not heard back from Open Table despite the e-mail I received back that they would answer quickly. To be honest, Wine:30 & Open Table share accountability in this situation. I use Open Table to find trusted restaurants and to guarantee a reservation. I'd honestly like to hear from Wine:30 and Open Table as to why this happened. I also feel customers of Open Table deserve that level of respect.
Love this spot. Such a great wine selection, it's a regular choice!
Came in for a pre-show dinner on Christmas Day; our waiter, John, was amazing, giving us great suggestions and making great conversation. Made us feel very welcome and made dinner an experience. I had been before and was very happy to have brought my out-of-town friends here.
Beautiful little place, excellent dinner party after theater. Delicious food, well severed and attentive staff.
Delicious, great selection of wines, really loved this.
Food was phenomenal. Cool ambiance and the staff was very accommodating.
Regular spot. Absolutely love it and always recommend to friends.
Great wine list and always fun for a date. Have been there several times and will be going again.
A google search of the best wine bars in NYC came up and it did not disappoint. We had Brian as our server and he was ON. POINT. He told us about a wine special they had for a Brunello that was getting close to its end of life. We ended up getting 2 bottles and tried all the food recommendations he made too and everything was AMAZING. The short rib was fabulous and even down to the cheese recommendations were awesome. If the weather allows, sit out back, the ambience on the patio is fabulous!
Food was good, service was a little slow. Small language barrier with the server. Not a huge problem.
Hadn’t seen my friend in months - perfect spot to catch up
Great wine selection, lovely ambience (loved the back garden seating). Perfect for a date night.
Love this place for a date spot. Consistently great service, ambience and wine selection.
Fantastic service and excellent food.
Great spot for a date with an even better wine list. I'll definitely be going again
