Windjammer Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We've been coming to Windjammer for years. Every time we come to Vermont, we HAVE to eat there! We love the salad bar and the many choices of main courses. The staff are ALWAYS very friendly. I especially liked the bass specials, but they haven't had that recently. All the choices are excellent!
We opted to eat here rather then fight the crowds in downtown Burlington and one of our dinners wanted steak. Overall it was good, lots of options and our server was attentive. If you want to avoid the crowds this is a good option if your in Burlington. Our reservation was at 9 and I can say I was surprised how crowded it was, but also it was loud. Since this was a friendly dinner and we were adding to the noise level it was fine, but it might be tough if your here for a couples meal.
For the first time ever, I was disappointed in the meal. My prime rib was cooked more then I had requested and the filet mignons were over cooked. I didn't say anything that night because it would have embarrassed the birthday girl. I just thought I would bring it to your attention. Maybe you have a new cook.
The reservations were made in Michaels name but I was actually the one who made them for my daughters 50th birthday.

Every single aspect of the Windjammer was incredible. We had an amazing server, the food was spectacular, and the ambience was just perfect. I chose the special of the day, which was a 12 ounce boneless ribeye with a shallot and blue cheese compote with a side of seasoned rice. It was tender and delicious, cooked perfectly like the way I wanted it. Overall, a fabulous experience, and something I can't wait to do again!
Always love the salad bar and usually the food
Had the special swordfish and I don't think it could have been drier.
All else was tasty and I don't complain but it was way way over cooked
I ate less than half of it
I love the windjammer though just a poor choice
We had family visiting from Ireland and dining at the Windjammer was a treat for all. The salad bar and its various farm fresh options were a feast for the eyes and the palate. We enjoyed the Bruschetta, spinach and artichoke dip and the perfectly-portioned desserts. We'll be back!
The only downside to the restaurant is the fact that the menu is limited, in which I mean there are no hamburgers on the menu. We would have to go to the upper deck to eat a hamburger. I think that the restaurant should review the menu. Not everyone is i to seafood or steaks.
We went there on a Friday night and made reservations for 7PM but got there early at 6PM. We asked if they could sit us early and they said after they checked in their 6:30 and 6:45 guests. We went up to the pub and thought no way were getting in early as the were very busy. At 6:30 our buzzer went off and we were promptly seated! Food was great, service as great and loved the salad bar! Can't wait to go back!
The restaurant was, not too surprisingly, incredibly crowded even on a Thursday evening for dinner - they apparently do an incredible business. Parking space was scarce, even though their parking lot is quite large. The place is well known in the area, also - very, very good steak and seafood restaurant, with a particular emphasis on fine seafood.
Visiting Burlington from California, we had no idea where to eat. Internet reviews gave Windjammer high marks so we tried it. We were so impressed with, the quality of the food, the amount of food (they are not stingy, and there is a great salad bar, and the excellent service, that we went back the next night. First night we had escargot which was traditionally served and excellent. I had crab cakes and broccoli, Delish! My husband had his favorite, scallops and also thoroughly enjoyed them. The second night the shrimp in my broiled seafood combo were overcooked and chewy, but the scrod was wonderful. (Should have just ordered the Boston Crumb Scrod.) My husband had a filet, and he indicated that it was perfectly cooked and very tasty. His only complaint was not enough scallions for his baked potato. Overall, we would go back in a heart beat. . . next time we make it back to Vermont from the West Coast.
great food very friendly waiter and he was extremely attentive. The salad bar was excellent with a variety of different foods and the bread was excellent. The windjammer was great place to celebrate our 30th anniversary. Please pass along our thanks to the wait staff, chefs and all who made this night special
My mom and I stayed at the hotel while we were in the process of selling/closing her house for a couple of nights. The last night at the hotel, we met up with our realtor and a close friend for dinner at the Windjammer. We were seated promptly and given the menus and wine list.
Very personable waitstaff and the food was very good. Salad bar was HUGE! Loved the fresh baked bread.
I'm in town for business and chose the Windjammer for dinner based on a coworker's recommendation. I was seated immediately near a corner of the room - much appreciated as I was dining alone and don't love being nestled between a bunch of couples. The salad bar was fantastic and the service was prompt. I ordered the stuffed haddock and it was okay - I wouldn't order it again but it wouldn't stop me from coming back. There was a lot of cornbread in the "stuffed" part that made it a bit soggy in my opinion. Everything else was great and I'll definitely come back next time I'm in town.
Overall the food and service was wonderful! I've had dinner there on many occasions. However, Sunday night the Boneless Ribeye was very tough and undercooked. Seasoned very nicely, but undercooked and tough. Not sure if it was old beef, but a Ribeye is very rarely tough. It will not affect my coming back, because the food 99% of the time is great and we love the salad boat.
Great Service! Appetizers were fantastic! Bacon wrapped scallops and escargot!
