About Wind & Sea Restaurant
The Wind & Sea Restaurant is located on the water in the Dana Point Harbor. With water on three sides, every table has a spectacular view.
We serve fresh fish selections daily as well as Alaskan King Crab Legs, lobster tail, shrimp, steaks, pasta, and vegetarian dishes along with an extensive wine list which has been awarded a Wine Spectator Award annually for the last six years.
Monday through Friday we have Hawaiian Happy Hour from 4:00 to 7:00 featuring our world famous Mai Tai's as well as draft beer, wine and food specials. Live entertainment on Friday and Saturday, as well as plasma and big screen TV's, keep the lounge exciting at all times.
The waterfront open-air patio serves the full menu and is heated at night, perfect for an order of nachos and a margarita or a full dinner under the stars. Private banquet facilities accommodate 20 to 100.

First table to arrive and they turned a rectangular four top into a six for six adults. We were cramped uncomfortable and barely able to get our plates on the table. They have a lot of great sixes and did we get one no and during the time we were there two hours only four other tables were sat. Hello we went at 11 so we could see the view not have half our party with their back to it. Food was just ok and they should not serve a steak sandwich if they are going to buy such a poor quality of meat.
We go to wind and sea every time we go to dana point. We go to dana point 3-4 times,a year. I usually have either the calamari or the sea food pasta. My wife usually has some type of fish dish. All there dishes are great. This time we also had there soup. I had clam chowder and she had the sea food bisque. They were both very good. The food servers we had they were all fantastic.
Service was excellent considering it was a busy holiday week. Calamari appetizer was superb and was enough for an entre. Oysters were fresh and well presented.
Macadamia Mahi was delightful but looked like it just got tossed on the plate - lacking presentation. The 3 scallops for $30 was a little pricey but pan browned to perfection.
I was disappointed that there were not specific gluten and/or dairy free options on the menu (this IS California).
Noise level is very high due to high ceilings and bar activity during Happy Hour.
We were seated at a waterfront harbor window and the evening view was spectacular.
In all we had an enjoyable meal. If you're looking for romantic, quiet conversation this isn't the place. If you enjoy a good dinner with a waterfront view with a group, book it.
We had a reservation for 7 and then changed it to 8 a couple days prior . When we arrived the girls at the front desk said there had been no notification of change. Wasn’t their fault and they handled the situation well. However, was a bit disturbing to us as we had several guests with us who are in their late 80’s and 90’s.
When the sun started blinding our 90 year old guest we asked our server if she could please close the blinds. She said she had to ask management. She did not return within an appropriate amount of time and when my cousin went to speak with management about closing the blinds, she was treated very rudely! This was on Christmas Day. The wait staff were great!!! The front desk girls were great!!! Food and ambiance was great!! Management, not so much.
My husband, son and I went to Wind & Sea on the spur of the moment for Christmas dinner. Our other children were all out of town and we are celebrating the holidays on Dec 30th. We were very pleased--and pleasantly surprised--at the quality and choice of the meals. There was something for each of us. The service was excellent and, of course, the harbor view was delightful. Prices were moderate and the food was superb! We had a wonderful experience. Thank you!
Locals beware! Wind and Sea, formerly a haven for local dog lovers and those wanting to relax with a drink, has become a tourist trap. The price of a drink, within the past week, has nearly DOUBLED. This is pure, unadulterated greed. I, and my friends and acquaintances, will NO LONGER support this establishment. Ever been through a sleepy southern town with a speed trap? Similar treatment. Good luck visitors, you’ve been trapped.
Wonderful view for a little while until dark. Heard comments that room was very hot during the afternoon. Great waitress. Kitchen extremely slow. Waitresses lined up waiting for their orders. Turkey very tough. $37.95 is much too expensive for a turkey dinner. Will try Mimi's next year for $18.95.
It was Thanksgiving evening at 5:30 PM. Way too pricey for everything being served on a platter Family Style. We asked for Wine and was told that we had to buy a bottle, whereas the table across from us got wine by the glass? The dressing made both my wife and I sick the next day. We waited for a long time for our salad and our food was cold. At the $47.00 per head, there are a lot better places around with a lot better service then we received!! It will be a long time for us to go back there, we have been going there for years and this was the worst service we have received!!
We had a table for five in a booth with a view of the ocean. Very lovely! The food was tasty and plenty of it! It was Thanksgiving and the food was served family style. One person had salmon and one person had steak and both liked them. All was going well, until the two tables in front of us along the windows started causing a commotion! One of the gentlemen told us that there was a termite infestation and they were flying around and one landed in the woman’s hair. Wet towels were put down on the windowsills but they seemed to draw more termites!! The two tables left and their tables set for more dinners and the towels removed! All this time we couldn’t stop watching the drama and the management knew it! Nothing was said to us! Needless to say we couldn’t eat anymore, paid our bill and left! We really fill our meal at the very least should’ve been comped! How crazy and unappetizing!
Have been here many times but not for a few years. Met some new fiends here and had a wonderful dinner. We had an excellent calamari appetizer - not the usual overdone fried baby calamari, but an excellent presentation of calamari steaks sliced into delectable strips. My ono was perfectly prepared. Service was terrific and the prices were reasonable. We had a window seat overlooking the harbor entrance, and there was a really good guitarist performing. Great dinner!
Four of us went for Sunday brunch. The service and view of the harbor was great, but the food choices were average. There were a few lunch items, but mostly breakfast food , all of which tasted average. I expected the food to be mediocre, since the price was less than most all you can eat brunches. The most disappointing part was the food was cold! The only hot item was the made to order omelet. We didn't have to wait for a table which was a plus.
Wind and Sea was recommended to me by a friend and unfortunately it was not as great of an experience as we had hoped while visiting Orange County. The service was incredibly slow even though the restaurant was essentially empty. The food was good but it wasn't the best food we had while visiting.
Made a reservation for 6:45pm, arrived a bit early, but was seated immediately. My table had a great view of the harbor/ocean. My server was very attentive & personable. I ordered the Blood Orange/Spinach Salad, the Macadamia Crusted Mahi-Mahi w/bok choy and a crème brulee for dessert. Everything was well prepared, very good-sized portions and very tasty. I will try to go there again before I move. :D
The food was very good, and the view was lovely as always. It was quite noisy inside and it was really hard to hear the music. Our server was wonderful and did a great job. The main issue is that in the description of the restaurant it says valet parking on the weekends and we were told that they only have valet parking during the summer and holidays. Just be aware of that when you go because the parking lot is quite busy in the harbor. Otherwise it was a great evening aside from the noise.
Went for girlfriend's birthday, along with her twin sister and husband. Service was top notch. "Mac" was exceptional. They changed the menu to put the macadamia nuts on the halibut. No questions asked. Great view of the waterfront. Excellent location, great people, and great food.
Worst clam chowder soup (this is a seafood place and the one sole clam in the soup tasted like rubber ), and marinara sauce was sparse, dry and horrible/bitter tasting..... served over under-cooked pasta w/a few chewy muscles, callimari and shrimp. Server told us the bread wasn't ready yet and after 30 minutes of waiting, he came over and asked if we wanted any bread...duh! Bread was fresh out of the oven and delicious I have to say, but my friends' ordered a large salad to share before the main meal and the server forgot about it and basically could have cared less about us, never returning to see how our food was, if we needed anything, or cared to order desert and the place was almost empty at the time. The harbor water around the restaurant was filthy and full of trash and dead birds/fish. This was my boyfriend and my first time; our friends said they have only been there a few times for afternoon appetizers, which they claim were great, but all four of us were disappointed with the dinner. We had a beautiful table by the windows overlooking the harbor, which was very nice.
