Winberie's Restaurant & Bar
Located in historic Scoville Square, we're within walking distance of the Frank Lloyd Wright and Hemingway attractions. A wide variety of wines, a full bar and a "classy, yet casual" aura makes us the perfect place to drop in for a meal, a brief afternoon indulgence or a late night cappuccino and dessert.
We had a party of six and had a great time and it was such a huge selection of food to choose from and everything was really great
This is a very warm and charming restuarant. The Brunch is fantastic and very fairly priced. Our waitress was attentive, professional and friendly. Planning to return often.
Outdoor seating was very nice. Drinks and food excellent. Always enjoyable!
Went for brunch. Everything was fantastic.
Went to Winberie’s to celebrate a birthday and upon a slightly hesitant recommendation received.
Service was great upon entry and at the bar, somehow once we got to our table it took our server some warming up. Very delayed to bring out bread and take our meal order, after rushing the drink order – a bit backwards if you ask me. The food, now that was very good – we did take some recommendations. For a party of 4 we ordered 1 appetizer: dynamite sticks 3 entrees: Cajun mac and cheese, steak frites and the niçoise salad. I did have to order the French onion soup because the reviews rave about it – and YES YES YES, one of the best soups I have had in the past couple of years.
The place is pretty dated, the crowd much older, not many people on a Tuesday night – not sure we are rushing back, OK maybe for the soup.
Delightful experience. Food was great, service too. The ambience is lovely, and it’s quiet enough to hold a conversation!
It had been than 20 years ago since I ate at Winberie’s and then it was for a Sunday brunch. 20 years lapsed because I thought it expensive for what the fare was and less than mediocre. 20 years has changed nothing. A turkey club sandwich for our lunch had something that looked like melted cheese which was supposed to pas for real turkey which was never found. The kitchen was slow. The pot pie was ok but not worth the $15. It comes solo. No side salad, nothing.
The iced tea was flavored and passable.
It will at least 20 years again before returning. Ok ambiance but nothing special. Oak Parker’s seem to love the place. I am glad they do.
Our waiter was so patient and accommodating. He made dinner for 8 a wonderful experience.
Went for dinner early on Saturday. Waitress was already overwhelmed by 5:45pm. Food was good, service ok.
Our entree-sized salads were fresh, generous and nicely presented. As usual, the service we received was excellent. This restaurant is a good choice when your group wants options in choosing their meals: seafood, vegetarian, meat.
Matthew was an excellent waiter and Yvonne makes the best martinis.
Winberies is like home for me. I’ve been going there for almost 30 years. Never disappoints- well once... but that was a long time ago and an isolated incident. And the restaurant doesn’t show its age either! They’ve kept it up nicely. And most importantly lots of good selections on the menu. Great for both family, business and romance!
We go after every Sing to Live Oak Park performance. One of my favorite places in town.
Great first experience at Winberie's. Server was very friendly and entertaining. Food was great. Our friends are vegan and the vegan menu was perfect for them. Will definitely be back!
Very enjoyable place to have lunch. Our party had the classic meatloaf, reuben sandwich and the teriaki salmon. All were delicious, though the teriaki sauce was a little on the sweet side. Our server (wish that I could remember her name!) was outstanding - super attentive, friendly and efficient. Over all, we would wholeheartedly recommend Winberie's.
Great place to relax with friends and have a very tasty meal. Terrific service (thanks, Matthew), perfectly priced entrees and excellent martinis! We’ll be back a lot.
Friendly wait staff, good food, no pressure! One of Oak Park's best spots.
Jason our server was fantastic and made my husband's birthday a special event. The drinks were great and the food delicious.
Best onion soup !!!! get extra cheese and ask for it "well done!"
Great place to take kids!
Perfect place to meet up in Oak Park. Centrally located, consistently good food. Nice setting to meet with a new client.
The onion soup was too salty to eat. Second time I’ve been there and food too salty. Let patron put salt on. Don’t know if I will be back. Beet salad delicious
Our server pretty much ignored us and visited with friends at another table ! We waited for about 20 minutes for our bill .
Wonderful neighborhood restaurant. Great food, drinks, ambiance and service. Highly recommend!
Our server Rene was amazing!
We went here on Valentine's Day, and it was pretty much a mess. First, I should admit that I didn't check the menu before arriving, however, the replacement of the amazing bean burger with a mushroom burger can only be described as an unconscionable, and unfathomable, error. Notwithstanding that menu change gaffe, the service could only be described as dilatory. The lowlight of the evening had to be when, after previously asking another waiter if we could have a complimentary order of bread that had been previously served to every table around us, our waiter arrived to ask us if we wanted bread, five to ten minutes after we'd asked the other waiter. (In my experience waiters generally cover for each other, but alas, I was proven wrong in this instance.) While I completely understand that it was Valentrine's Day, and therefore the kitchen was quite busy, we had been waiting for our food for at least 30 minutes before we asked for the bread.
Finally, to cap off the evening, the food she ordered upset my fiance's stomach. Nonetheless, she dutifully ordered a box to take it home rather than waste the food, at which point the waiter had the gall to ask, "What happened here?" A miserable evening, would have been the appropriate reply, but alas she's too kind to say that, so I'll say it here. What happened that night was a miserable evening.
We enjoyed our dining experience at Winberie’s! The steak frites were delicious and the service was attentive. Thank you.
Great food, very friendly staff
We had not been there for a long time. Very reliable place, great shrimp bisque (super on a cold day), and our entrees were nice.
We were a party of 5 with three children. Our server, Esteban was wonderful. And the boys loved the chocolate fondue dessert!
Excellent service and fresh food. Definitely will go back with colleagues and family both.
Efficient service. Good food and good value. Chicken pit pie was excellent. Hearty portions. Unobtrusive service was spot on. Food came quickly after ordering.
This was my second time I highly recommended this restaurant.
Waiting time was really long, food took also very long and was not that great.
You can always count on a comfortable experience and good food. The place is really good if you want to have a conversation with people in your group- it is a nice quiet place with good service and always great food.
I had never experienced the Sunday Brunch before - it was delightful! Matt is very professional and a joy to have as our server.
Great atmosphere great service was patience with waiting for my other guests
Our server, Mathews was outstanding. The cocktails were good. Conversation with friends (6 of us) was easy to hear across the table.
I was looking for a place to go after my wife's graduate school commencement ceremony and found this place. I hadn't heard much about it firsthand from customers, but I was impressed by the photos and menu and took a chance. I'm glad I did, because the food was outstanding, the service was great, and the cost was more than reasonable. For starters, everything we ate/drank was either as expected or better, and that says a lot because our group had a pretty diverse range of orders, including London broils, risottos, and vegetable dishes. The service was top-notch. When our order of appetizers came in, the individual delivering informed us that a single piece (one item from a stack of 10) fell on the ground and that he would be bringing us a replacement shortly. Not only did none of us even notice that anything was amiss when he first arrived, but he returned with three more pieces instead of just one. Finally, about the value: if you asked me to find a place in a Chicagoland neighborhood that competently and confidently serves large prime rib specials for around $30, I would have called you 'uninformed' to say the least.
Now, something to keep in mind. This restaurant has less of a fine dining feel and more of a relaxed, almost cafe-type of vibe, at least towards the back where the larger tables are. Don't get me wrong, we were wearing suits and dresses and didn't feel out of place for a second, but if you're looking for a romantic candlelit dinner for two, either ask to sit towards the front door or consider another establishment. HOWEVER. If you want to enjoy a quality meal at a friendly place, where you won't have to fight for a table or take out a loan to cover the tab (5:30pm Saturday reservations were somehow unnecessary; around $200 for six entrees, multiple rounds of drinks, and appetizers), this should be top of the list.
Personal recommendations: Kentucky Mule (drink), Dynamite Sticks (appetizer), Signature Meat Loaf (entree).
