Winberie's Restaurant & Bar
Located in historic Scoville Square, we're within walking distance of the Frank Lloyd Wright and Hemingway attractions. A wide variety of wines, a full bar and a "classy, yet casual" aura makes us the perfect place to drop in for a meal, a brief afternoon indulgence or a late night cappuccino and dessert.
We enjoyed our dining experience at Winberie’s! The steak frites were delicious and the service was attentive. Thank you.
Great food, very friendly staff
We had not been there for a long time. Very reliable place, great shrimp bisque (super on a cold day), and our entrees were nice.
We were a party of 5 with three children. Our server, Esteban was wonderful. And the boys loved the chocolate fondue dessert!
Excellent service and fresh food. Definitely will go back with colleagues and family both.
Efficient service. Good food and good value. Chicken pit pie was excellent. Hearty portions. Unobtrusive service was spot on. Food came quickly after ordering.
This was my second time I highly recommended this restaurant.
Waiting time was really long, food took also very long and was not that great.
You can always count on a comfortable experience and good food. The place is really good if you want to have a conversation with people in your group- it is a nice quiet place with good service and always great food.
I had never experienced the Sunday Brunch before - it was delightful! Matt is very professional and a joy to have as our server.
Great atmosphere great service was patience with waiting for my other guests
Our server, Mathews was outstanding. The cocktails were good. Conversation with friends (6 of us) was easy to hear across the table.
I was looking for a place to go after my wife's graduate school commencement ceremony and found this place. I hadn't heard much about it firsthand from customers, but I was impressed by the photos and menu and took a chance. I'm glad I did, because the food was outstanding, the service was great, and the cost was more than reasonable. For starters, everything we ate/drank was either as expected or better, and that says a lot because our group had a pretty diverse range of orders, including London broils, risottos, and vegetable dishes. The service was top-notch. When our order of appetizers came in, the individual delivering informed us that a single piece (one item from a stack of 10) fell on the ground and that he would be bringing us a replacement shortly. Not only did none of us even notice that anything was amiss when he first arrived, but he returned with three more pieces instead of just one. Finally, about the value: if you asked me to find a place in a Chicagoland neighborhood that competently and confidently serves large prime rib specials for around $30, I would have called you 'uninformed' to say the least.
Now, something to keep in mind. This restaurant has less of a fine dining feel and more of a relaxed, almost cafe-type of vibe, at least towards the back where the larger tables are. Don't get me wrong, we were wearing suits and dresses and didn't feel out of place for a second, but if you're looking for a romantic candlelit dinner for two, either ask to sit towards the front door or consider another establishment. HOWEVER. If you want to enjoy a quality meal at a friendly place, where you won't have to fight for a table or take out a loan to cover the tab (5:30pm Saturday reservations were somehow unnecessary; around $200 for six entrees, multiple rounds of drinks, and appetizers), this should be top of the list.
Personal recommendations: Kentucky Mule (drink), Dynamite Sticks (appetizer), Signature Meat Loaf (entree).
Great service and staff. The interior is charming. The food is great, lots of options for those with dietary restrictions.
Our waitress was so accommodating to our group of 11 that turned into 12. This was a great place for a birthday gathering. Conversation, laughs and good food.
Our dinners were good. The waiter forgot the Pelegrino water with lime I ordered. I don't know if we were charged for it or not. I liked the roomy table placement in that we weren't sitting "on top" of each other. Being there for dinner this past Saturday night, it would have been nice if there were more washrooms! The person I was waiting in line with to use the washroom remarked that he could see waiting to use a washroom in a dive bar, but not in a nice restaurant.
Love coming back to this wonderful, warm establishment! Always an incredible craft beer selection and amazing menu! As personal trainers, my wife and I are always looking for the healthiest options with the most creative flavors and we are never disappointed here!
Food was lovely. Server, Matthew was quirky and sweet. Really knew his stuff.
This used to be a solid dependable brunch. No more. Food was salty and inedible. Options for a buffet were limited and low quality.
Food was delicious and service was outstanding as usual. I had the veggie burger and my husband ordered the London Broil. Both tasted great. He also ordered the homemade banana cream pie. He love it especially the crust. We can't wait to go back. We always love the food and the servers are so friendly.
This dinner was scheduled for a birthday occasion. The service was much better than we expected. This was our first time at this restaurant and we were pleased with the, overall experience !
My only recommendation is I would’ve liked to have been asked if I wanted to table or a booth. I didn’t make a reservation ahead of time
We went for the breakfast buffet. It is small and strangely arranged in a dim hallway behind the dining rooms. The selections were rather limited and the food was just ok. Not sure why this gets such good reviews. The people who work there are very nice.
Foot was good! Waitress was slow but nice.
We love Winberies, food is incredible, our standby.
Great soup and bread was fantastic. Our waiter was perfect.
The food was awesome. The dining room ambience was perfect. I am going back and would highly recommend.
Winberie's has been in Oak Park, IL for a number of years and they haven't lost their touch. The food was delicious and each person in our party of four was happy with their dinner selection. The salmon was fabulous! We all opted for desserts including a key lime pie tart, flourless chocolate cake and the Nestle's Tollhouse cookie pie - yum! We were there on a Tuesday night and were meeting friends from out of town - fortunately it wasn't a busy night at Winberie's because we spent over three hours visiting with each other. We never felt rushed and truly had a delightful evening.
Excellent customer service.
Top Notch eatery.
Service was a bit slow but food more than made up for it. Great place, and great brunch options.
Excellent brunch, great food and fantastic service. Highly recommend!
We had a wonderful late lunch/early dinner on Sunday. There were 6 of us. The food was fabulous and so was our server! We will be back!!!
The menu offers a wide variety of choices and service was good. Met a friend for lunch and sat in a booth. We were able to have a nice conversation and enjoy our lunch with a glass of wine.
Two issues--server was gone for long periods of time and one of the dinners the Chicken Marsala just did not taste good. Chicken seemed to have an almost sweet teriyaki flavor rather than the traditional wine and mushroom. Haricot verts were tough and bland.
Hangar Steak was very good but could have used more of the horseradish butter to soak into the frites.
Will go again, but probably stick with FO Soup and the Steak.
We went for brunch on a Sunday. There was a nice selection of foods. Loved the freshly made waffles and the French Toast was very good. I was disappointed with the dessert selection. They seemed like they came out of a box from Jewel. Overall nice environment. I would go again.
Had a fab table!👍🏻 Waitress was very friendly! Service was okay. There were a lot of people there.
Great food and service.
The food was very disappointing. The fish was over cooked and the steak was undercooked. The service was terrible. We sat outside and apparently had to be served by the bartenders. We will not be coming back.
