Willy’s Steakhouse Grill & Sushi Bar Ratings and Reviews
We are frequent neighborhood visitors to Willy's and we normally have a great experience. This past Saturday evening was the most unpleasant evening we have spent in any restaurant. The noise level was out of control, we found ourselves yelling at each other. Our food took 75 minutes to come out. The food was good, but not worth the price considering the aggravation we had that evening. The manager came over and offered free desert but never apologized for the delay in food or the noise level. This was unacceptable. It will be a very long time, if ever that we return to the restaurant.
We have been here numerous times before and always have had great experience. This occasion we were disappointed by the lack of service and attention to detail. There was a large party that included 3 kids that had portable electronic devices pretty loud. Food took twice as long as normal to come. Part of the mail was cold and no one really came by to ask. Probably due to the large party which sat after us and got their food before ours. I am sure the wait staff were giving them more attention that us and usually we understand. THis was a birthday dinner for two of us and a 9 month pregnant daughter that was hoping for one more adult meal before baby arrives.
Willy's is a favorite of ours in Central Massachusetts. Their steaks are always of the highest quality and prepared perfectly. Service is always prompt and courteous without being intrusive. The prices are quite reasonable and commensurate with the overall dining experience.
I ordered the filet and brussel sprouts-the steak was charred and hard on the outside and the brussel sprouts were hard and undercooked and the stems left on which is like eating bark. There were 3 choices of dressing to choose from for the wedge salad which was underwhelming. I was disappointed since the last time I was there the food was excellent. I hope it was an off night.
The appetizer was oysters rockefeller, very different but good. I had a strip sirloin with gorgonzola sauce. The steak was cooked to my liking (medium rare). It ate as if it was select beef, dry and chewy. The sauce was unrecognizable as Gorgonzola sauce. My dining partner has a filet which was cooked as ordered and very good. Her meal came with several baked stuffed shrimp which were bland. The stuffing was poorly seasoned and the shrimp were apparently farm raised. Two sides of vegetables were ordered, they were terrific. A great glass of wine and excellent wait service, all for $150 dollars. I found the restaurant to be a poor value and very noisy.
With such great reviews we had to try Willy's instead of our traditional birthday trip to Sole Proprietor in Worcester. The menu was extensive. Our kids each tried some of the sushi which was fine. The salads were large and fresh. My surf and turf was fantastic. The steak was perfectly cooked and was incredibly tender. Shrimp also delectable. My husband had the steak au poivre and was able to indicate that he did not want extensive pepper which was nice. Desserts were worth the calories and sharing size! We will probably not go back because the ambiance was not our style (booths, very casual) but the food was good. Our only complaint is that the sides were pricey and no sides came with the steak or seafood. The sides were sizable and good for two people to share but I wish they were smaller and included with the meal.
Our first time at Willy's. There is a small parking lot in the rear of the building. The restaurant is in the basement of the building. Although adequately lit, it has a dark old world feel to the dining room. We had Nancy as our server and she was attentive, friendly and informative.
We tried the onion rings as an appetizer. They were thin, shoestring style and definitely homemade! Wonderful flavor and nicely salted. For the main course there was the pecan encrusted rack of lamb, the filet mignon, and a surf and turf special which was a filet mignon and seared sea scallops over a mushroom risotto. We also had a side order of a baked potato, and seared brussels sprouts with crumbled bacon. The sides are definitely big enough to share.
We had three levels of doneness ( blue, rare and medium). Everything was cooked perfectly and the flavor was spot on!
For dessert we sampled the salted caramel cake. It was very moist and the frosting was sweet, but not overly sweet. The salted Carmel aspect was barely noticeable. The coffee was a darker roast, full body which was quite smooth.
Although they had some gluten-free options on the main menu, there were no gluten-free choices on the dessert menu. That was a bit disappointing.
We will absolutely return and highly recommend it for exceptional food, service and quality.
Service was top notch and food was absolutely fantastic! Got a surprise gift card as a thank you for some business my husband did for a friend and we could not have been more thrilled with the find of Willy Steakhouse. We have already made plans with another couple in a few weeks to introduce them to it!
Thank you for having such a great establishment and helping us keep our business local! Regards

Delicious steak and swordfish. Very accommodating when I asked for just a butter and lemon sauce instead of the spicy toppings offered on the swordfish. Very tasty fried onion strings. My 7&7 was watered down. We were seated right by the waiter station by the front door. Dislike that, as the staff congregates there. Previous visit enjoyed being able to look around the restaurant at the decor. We took friends who hadn't been there before, they enjoyed it. Quite loud (sat. Night, 6pm), being in a booth helps with the noise. Overall, very good, we'll be back.
I have been to this restaurant a lot- one of our favorites. We were sat in a booth right at the kitchen window- never a good booth to be in. The waiter (one I have never had before) was mediocre at best. The steak was cool to the touch- I was shocked. Usually it is fantastic! I was disappointed for the first time here.
It was our 11th wedding anniversary and we don't go out much as we have an 19 month old. Everything was spectacular. It was one of the best meals we have had. The steak was perfectly prepared and the sides of creamed spinach and garlic mashed potatoes were fabulous. We will be back.....
The second visit to Willa's Steakhouse and it was very good. The service was excellent and the ambience was warm and cozy. Our family of four started with cheese tray that was wonderful and some warm toasted bread. We ordered the swordfish, surf/turf,ribeye and mussels/shrimp with pasta. The portions for three of the meals were decent, except for the swordfish. The piece was about the size of a fist and I think my hungry son ate it in 3 bites. The server was very attentive and quick to fill water glasses.
