Willy’s Steakhouse Grill & Sushi Bar Ratings and Reviews
I ordered the filet and brussel sprouts-the steak was charred and hard on the outside and the brussel sprouts were hard and undercooked and the stems left on which is like eating bark. There were 3 choices of dressing to choose from for the wedge salad which was underwhelming. I was disappointed since the last time I was there the food was excellent. I hope it was an off night.
The appetizer was oysters rockefeller, very different but good. I had a strip sirloin with gorgonzola sauce. The steak was cooked to my liking (medium rare). It ate as if it was select beef, dry and chewy. The sauce was unrecognizable as Gorgonzola sauce. My dining partner has a filet which was cooked as ordered and very good. Her meal came with several baked stuffed shrimp which were bland. The stuffing was poorly seasoned and the shrimp were apparently farm raised. Two sides of vegetables were ordered, they were terrific. A great glass of wine and excellent wait service, all for $150 dollars. I found the restaurant to be a poor value and very noisy.
With such great reviews we had to try Willy's instead of our traditional birthday trip to Sole Proprietor in Worcester. The menu was extensive. Our kids each tried some of the sushi which was fine. The salads were large and fresh. My surf and turf was fantastic. The steak was perfectly cooked and was incredibly tender. Shrimp also delectable. My husband had the steak au poivre and was able to indicate that he did not want extensive pepper which was nice. Desserts were worth the calories and sharing size! We will probably not go back because the ambiance was not our style (booths, very casual) but the food was good. Our only complaint is that the sides were pricey and no sides came with the steak or seafood. The sides were sizable and good for two people to share but I wish they were smaller and included with the meal.
Our first time at Willy's. There is a small parking lot in the rear of the building. The restaurant is in the basement of the building. Although adequately lit, it has a dark old world feel to the dining room. We had Nancy as our server and she was attentive, friendly and informative.
We tried the onion rings as an appetizer. They were thin, shoestring style and definitely homemade! Wonderful flavor and nicely salted. For the main course there was the pecan encrusted rack of lamb, the filet mignon, and a surf and turf special which was a filet mignon and seared sea scallops over a mushroom risotto. We also had a side order of a baked potato, and seared brussels sprouts with crumbled bacon. The sides are definitely big enough to share.
We had three levels of doneness ( blue, rare and medium). Everything was cooked perfectly and the flavor was spot on!
For dessert we sampled the salted caramel cake. It was very moist and the frosting was sweet, but not overly sweet. The salted Carmel aspect was barely noticeable. The coffee was a darker roast, full body which was quite smooth.
Although they had some gluten-free options on the main menu, there were no gluten-free choices on the dessert menu. That was a bit disappointing.
We will absolutely return and highly recommend it for exceptional food, service and quality.
Service was top notch and food was absolutely fantastic! Got a surprise gift card as a thank you for some business my husband did for a friend and we could not have been more thrilled with the find of Willy Steakhouse. We have already made plans with another couple in a few weeks to introduce them to it!
Thank you for having such a great establishment and helping us keep our business local! Regards

Delicious steak and swordfish. Very accommodating when I asked for just a butter and lemon sauce instead of the spicy toppings offered on the swordfish. Very tasty fried onion strings. My 7&7 was watered down. We were seated right by the waiter station by the front door. Dislike that, as the staff congregates there. Previous visit enjoyed being able to look around the restaurant at the decor. We took friends who hadn't been there before, they enjoyed it. Quite loud (sat. Night, 6pm), being in a booth helps with the noise. Overall, very good, we'll be back.
I have been to this restaurant a lot- one of our favorites. We were sat in a booth right at the kitchen window- never a good booth to be in. The waiter (one I have never had before) was mediocre at best. The steak was cool to the touch- I was shocked. Usually it is fantastic! I was disappointed for the first time here.
It was our 11th wedding anniversary and we don't go out much as we have an 19 month old. Everything was spectacular. It was one of the best meals we have had. The steak was perfectly prepared and the sides of creamed spinach and garlic mashed potatoes were fabulous. We will be back.....
The second visit to Willa's Steakhouse and it was very good. The service was excellent and the ambience was warm and cozy. Our family of four started with cheese tray that was wonderful and some warm toasted bread. We ordered the swordfish, surf/turf,ribeye and mussels/shrimp with pasta. The portions for three of the meals were decent, except for the swordfish. The piece was about the size of a fist and I think my hungry son ate it in 3 bites. The server was very attentive and quick to fill water glasses.
We had a wonderful time! The food was great, the server, Sharon, was magnificent, and the ambiance was awesome. I was celebrating my 48th birthday with family and friend, 8 of us, and we had a blast. The only thing I saw as a negative was that it got very warm and stayed warm throughout the evening. Other than that, THANK YOU for providing my family and friends with a great restaurant to eat and drink.
Although a little pricey, Willy's SteakHouse, a gem in the center of Shrewsbury, serves just about the best melt-in-your-mouth beef anywhere. Especially awesome is the NY Strip with truffle butter, although the 24 ounce porterhouse will not disappoint. On a recent visit, we started our meal with tuna tartar and fried calamari; the tuna had exceptional flavor and the calamari was tender, light, and crispy. One member of our party opted not for the beef, but rather the duck breast, and he pretty much licked the plate clean. The server was pleasant and prompt. Worth every penny.
It's a shame we don't come here more often, the food is consistently wonderful. Lively crowd (it was packed on a Monday night!) and boy, do they know how to do steak.
We both ordered a filet and when they arrived, there was nary a steak knife to be found. I thought, "Now here's a place that has confidence in their tenderness of their beef!"
And sure enough, the filet was literally fork-tender. Also kudos for livening up their vegetable offerings: Spinach in cheese sauce and potatoes au gratin. Hmm, a theme?
We did not indulge, but based on the activity at their sushi bar, again it's a rare place (pun intended!) that can do both steak and sushi and do both successfully
Even though we had a reservation our table was placed very close to the bathrooms and the kitchen. The food was mediocre. Only the Sushi were good. Overpriced. Not worth it. Very disappointed. We had been waiting a ling time to eat there
I was looking forward to a nice birthday dinner, unfortunately it did not turn out that way. The service was very good, the food was another story. We ordered au gratin potato, they were cold. My filet mignon, which I ordered as medium plus close to medium well. I explained I liked a tiny bit of pink, well it was still mooing when I received it. I sent it back to cook more when it came back to me I cut into it and it was still raw. The server was very apologetic and willing to cook it again. You can't cook a piece of filet three times and expect it to be good. So I went without dinner for my birthday. The manager did offer us dessert but I was not interested
The place was lovely! The best food- everything from appetizer to dessert was amazing I really love this place and have told everyone how delicious it was. Great place - Great food and amazing service in a place that it seems everyone knows your name! Cheers!
