Willow Ratings and Reviews
Great Food, Personable staff, Great Service. Omelet perfectly made to order. My friends raved about their meals, from the crab cake eggs benedict to the steak and eggs. And they cannot stop talking about the pumpkin cannoli they had for dessert.
My spouse and I enjoy WIllow on date nights, a quick bite after work or with a group of friends and they NEVER disappoint!
What a find! I was in town to visit win my best friend, and Willow did not disappoint. The drinks were strong, the atmosphere was casual enough, the service was a perfect, and the food was some of the best I’ve had in some time. We had the roasted vegetable salad, mushroom bread pudding, mussels, and pork tacos. Everything had a refreshing take on it, nothing I’ve ever tasted before. I know my best friend will return, and I have no doubt I will request to as well.
Truly a hidden gem of Pittsburgh! The fairly recently remodeled, revamped restaurant with newly upgraded menu is definitely worth the drive to the north hills and conveniently close to the exit off of 79 without the feel of 'a restaurant right off the exit'. The menu has the classics with an upgrade of modern twists to plates that will make you feel adventurous. The best part about this new look of the menu is the addition of small plates that allows you to taste different plates that the chef has been working on without the commitment to a whole meal. They're great for appetizers or you can make a meal out of some. If they have the bread pudding with duck confit definitely try it! You will not be disappointed with this restaurant. Good for special occasions to every day dining, definitely put this one on your list of MUST TRYs.
Food was delicious but waiter was a little less than desirable. It is a little gross when your waiter is sweating profusely and serving you food. Also he seemed to be in some sort of rush towards the end of our dinner and eager to be done with serving us. Overall, it was a good dining experience and I would eat here again although I would love to try dinner on the patio.
Strongly recommend for innovative food. Lots of dishes have an Asian flavor in it. Really liked the yellowfin crudo, red snapper(seems only available for restaurant week?), crab cake, mussels with green curry, the scallop and pork belly was pretty awesome too. Loved how they mixed peaches with the spicy sauce(curry?) for the red snapper dish, a very interesting combination.
Went for restaurant week, the menu provided was well thought out and a great value. Portions were large and well presented, and the wine paring offered with the tasting menu was a very good compliment to the food. My wife and I hadn't been to Willow in years, but it won't be long before we go back.
Would have given 3 1/2 stars if possible. Went here on a date, our server was Mark, he did a great job with our service, was friendly and helpful throughout the evening. The best course we had was our order of mussels, puttanesca style-- very flavorful, and the side of house made garlic bread was fantastic. I had heard a lot about the lobster bites from Yelp and OpenTable but was not impressed, they were fine but did not have much flavor. The deviled egg were great. We finished with the semifreddo which was excellent but would've been better had it not been so frozen, it made it a bit difficult to eat. The peach brown butter cake was also excellent. Overall a good experience aside from the hype being less than expected, and it being generally overpriced from the quality of food. Great ambiance and location. Thanks Mark for the great service!
I'm a bit torn on Willow. I think the prices were strange (beer was super cheap, cocktails comparable to an expensive restaurant, reasonable flatbread & burger prices, SUPER expensive pasta for the really small portion). The burgers also had a very small selection of toppings (only 4 in addition to the cheese choices), which is even more strange since you get 2 toppings with the price of the burger (they also had ketchup that wasn't Heinz for the fries). Thankfully, the fries were good enough that they didn't need ketchup. Though the food was wonderful, for that price I'd be much more likely to go to a restaurant I really love than there. I hear the menu changes a lot, so perhaps it was just this particular menu. We also hear brunch is great and we'll be checking that out at some point. There are other restaurants I want to try or visit again before we'd go back to Willow, but the food was very good.
Once I received an email regarding the new chef and menu, I want to check it out. We took some family members there and were pleasantly surprised at how wonderful everything was! The food was absolutely perfect and so were the cocktails. We had great service as well. Cannot wait to go back!
Willow is beautiful! From the moment we pulled up tomthe restaurant, we were impressed by the decor. The hostess was very helpful. We notified her that we were looking at the restaurant as a possible wedding venue and she allowed us to tour the upstairs and sit there too. The appetizers were fantastic and the food was unbelievably good! Great for a date!
I liked Willow and the food was really good! The menu was short, which is nice because then you don't have pages of selections. The service was great and timing of the food was good. The only thing I did not like was the music. It was too loud! We were seated right under a speaker and it was hard to have a conversation with music blaring in your ear. Otherwise, I would recommend this restaurant. Very casual.
The night was perfect, the food, the wine and the romantic spot in the corner. It was our anniversary and Willow made it very special for us, with the complimentary champagne when we arrived to the excellent special chocolate Willow desert. I don't want to forget about the exceptional waiter Chris, who was very knowledgeable about everything on the menu. Great night!
Went for Sunday Brunch for a birthday, sadly seated in front of the bar possibly because an event was upstairs. No other customers in the area. Numerous staff making informal conversation among themselves at the bar. Attitude of server was flat, did not smile, seemed disinterested and felt unpleasant, as if she was more interested in chatting with staff and getting off work. Food was very good, well presented on the plate, visually lovely and flavors offered a positive experience, our compliments to the chief. Sad that the service staff conversation among themselves at the bar and frowning attitude of the server made it so unpleasant
Willow has been trusted favorite of ours for many years, but this visit did not live up to the standard that we have come to expect. Service makes the meal with a restaurant in Willow's price range, and our service was atrocious. The waiter was beyond socially awkward, did not ask us if we wanted drinks once we sat down, would not (or could not) provide menu recommendations, forgot our appetizer, and then topped the evening off by not asking us if we wanted dessert. The food was still very good, maybe not up to past visits but still quite tasty. This was most likely our final visit, unless there is real make over of the restaurant.
I'd driven past Willow many times before realizing it was a restaurant...It's set-back and unassuming. I do wish I would have known about it earlier! After asking around and hearing that they have a great menu, I was not disappointed. The ambiance is lovely and is great for just every-day dining or special occasions. They have something to please everyone!
Father's Day Brunch was from menu which we liked Neither of us can eat enough to justify cost. Food was excellent. But overall organization of servers left a lot to be desired. We sat for 15+ minutes before anyone even acknowledged us and table next to us kept checking with waiters because their food had not arrived. Excuse offered: "we 70+ people upstairs". Seems management did not staff enough servers or overbooked. Also we sat in the bar area, I think, that had wood floors and was very noisy. Felt like the "rejects" who have to sit away from the "privileged" folks. Server was excellent once she "discovered" us there and was reasonably attentive. Not her fault unless she helped with managements' decision.
