Willow Creek Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Food was great, 'though a little overpriced. Service was excellent. Nice view of the nearby lake, probably a plus during the summer lunch hour. "Two-top" tables should be outlawed in an upscale dining establishment, there simply is not enough table space for the candles, water, bread, appetizer and wine. Spoiled an otherwise pleasant experience.
We did not expect to find such fine dining in Evergreen, Co. We first dined at Willow Creek two year ago and really enjoyed it. We were back last year and it was wonderful again. This year, we have dined there all three nights we were in Evergreen. The Cockles, gnocchi, and scallops are excellent. The specials change each day and are a real treat. They have a great wine list.
It is really worth a drive from Denver just to dine at Willow Creek.
We always stop here on our way from Ohio to Telluride, CO several times a year. It is never disappointing and this visit was no exception. It was a beautiful evening and they allow you to make reservations for their deck (which is unusual for most restaurants -- it's usually a first come fist served policy), so this is a nice touch as well. My husband had the fish special and I had the salmon and both entrees were delicious. The wait staff is very well trained which makes for an all-around enjoyable experience. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Neighbors recommended Willow Creek in Evergreen. I owe those neighbors a good bottle of wine! Our table was right on the rail of the outdoor area overlooking Lake Evergreen. Wow! The view was fantastic. Our server went over the menu extensively, making recommendations as she went. Extremely knowledgeable of the menu and the wine list, I took her recommendation on the Nantucket Scallops while my wife went with the Rabbit pasta, a specialty. I have NEVER had such flavorsome scallops. The spaetzle accompaniment and sauce were perfect. My wife's rabbit was equally good. The wine was spot-on as well. Desserts are made in-house and were both outstanding. This place should be on your list in you're in Colorado.
The service was great - we had a very attentive waiter who provided the perfect balance of being available but not hovering. He made great wine recommendations and talked with enthusiasm about the dishes. The gnocchi appetizer was definitely a highlight of the meal, as was the chilled melon soup. The steak was also very good, and the roasted potatoes that were served with it were delicious. There were only 3 very small potatoes though, which was not nearly enough for the size of the steak entree. That would be my one criticism - I would have loved a few more of those potatoes! If you want to sit outside, be sure to request it specifically when you make your reservation. Great experience!
From the second I walked in the door to the moment I left I was happy. Great decor, friendly staff, unique food as well as staples that you expect at a nice restaurant. I love the organic, sustainable approach of the restaurant. The chef clearly enjoys his craft and exposes his customers to a new culinary world.
The food is always very good, but the front of the house is poorly run. There is always a wait for service at every stage of the meal and this time we practically had to beg to pay. The staff is friendly but poorly trained and manged. If it wasn't for the food and the fact that Evergreen has such limited dining options this place would have closed long ago because of the poor service.
Willow Creek has the perfect setting with 5-Star foods. The outdoor patio overlooks Evergreen lake and is buzzing with humming birds. The service is great with an attentive and friendly waitstaff. The quality and seasoning of the food can match that of any high end restaurant in Denver. Take the time to have a great time and a great meal at Willow Creek; then take a walk around the lake.
We had an awesome evening last night. We arrived in dry weather with hummingbirds circling around the exterior of the restaurant with a great view of the lake in Evergreen. We started with the escargot with tomatoes and chantarelle mushrooms. It was bursting with flavor and the combination of ingredients was perfect. My girlfriend had the rabbit for her main course and I had the trout. We loved both but liked the trout slightly better. There was a power outage in the area due to a thunderstorm which made the evening even more fun and romantic in some ways. Our waiter, Todd, was awesome and had great advice on our food selections.
The ambiance was perfect, not to loud, but loud enough. The views of the lake are great, especially at sunset. The entrees and dessert were delicious. We had the smoked trout and the scallops with bacon. The creme brule was great, just enough for one, and the cobbler with blueberry icecream. We shared the bruschetta 3 ways (soil, land, and sea) and I wouldn't order it again. The mushrooms (soil) were excellent, but the chicken salad (land) and smoked tuna (sea) felt like chef experiments. Just as we ordered dessert, the power went out from a lightening strike. At first I was concerned, but I've never seen a better service team and enjoyed a romantic dinner more. The staff pulled out flashlights and set extra candles around the room. Fun!
This restaurant is beautiful, with an excellent location. On nice days, the patio is superb! Wait staff is generally friendly, professional, well-groomed and respectful. The food is interesting and different, and very, very tasty. Some of the portions, especially on the appetizers, are meager for the price. You might be disappointed if you want to share the appetizers.
My husband and I both love this restaurant. It's got it all: a great view overlooking the lake, wonderful gourmet food, wonderful wine list, efficient waiters, and an ambience that is both casual and at the same time romantic for couples. A great place to sit back and relax for both lunch and dinner, and we never feel that we are rushed out of the place.
My wife and I enjoyed a very pleasant evening dinner on the outside patio. The weather and view of Evergreen Lake were excellent and our meals were incredible. We both have a soft spot for Rocky Mountain Trout and Willow's interpretation combining trout with gnocchi was done very well. We finished off the evening with some of their homemade ice cream. Also wanted to give a shoutout to our server, who did an excellent job keeping us on pace for a relaxing, but not too slow evening. Great Job!
My wife and I celebrated my birthday and had a wonderful dinner. We both ordered the scallops which were some of the best we have had in Colorado. The view from the restaurant is great overlooking Evergreen Lake. It is a special place and we have had both lunch and dinner and are never disappointed. Well worth the drive to Evergreen.
Going to the Willow Creek is like going to a big city place with amazing food. But better yet..it's got a view of Evergreen Lake and surrounding area that make this one of the best places to dine in the state..no doubt. Food is simply delicious..gnocchi is a special treat that will knock your socks off. Risotto with scallops will knock your shoes off. Bar and wine list also top notch. On a nice night dining on the patio reminds you that you are in a most special place..and the rabbit is their signature dish..can't go wrong. A must place to go.
They never disappoint, fantastic food, ambiance (elk walking by), beautiful view of the lake and a wonderful, warm ambiance. The scallops are amazing and so is everything else on the menu. We always make it here from Cherry Creek to enjoy this wonderful restaurant!
The view of the lake and golf course is gorgeous - Willow Creek has one of the nicest patios in Evergreen. Our beet salads were delicious - with fresh peppery greens with the perfect amount of passion fruit dressing. The brick chicken was moist and flavorful but truthfully it could have been cooked a tad longer and the skin should have been crisped. Attentive service. Overall a great evening and highly recommended.
On a lovely summer day in June, this restaurant was the perfect place to celebrate a birthday on the outdoor patio. From the patio, you could watch the sailboats on the lake and the paddleboarders. Our waitress was very friendly, informing us that this was a family-owned establishment with a chef-owner making all of their breads, cheeses, sausages and other dishes. I had the tasty grilled chicken sandwich with thick slices of well-done bacon, cheese, greens, basil aioli and a chewy grilled bread and the wonderful vanilla bean creme brûlée for dessert. Our water glasses were constantly refilled and service was excellent. I plan to return.
Great atmosphere. Great food. Great wine.
The setting outside is incredible. In the summer when it is light until 9 pm, the views through their massive windowed dinning room are spectacular. The setting inside is classy, modern mountain. Very nice. It just feels good to be there.
I have never had a bad meal there - excellent menu that seems to be always new/fresh. The service is excellent.
Known for good wines. It is a great place to go for a nice dinner with friends. Expect to spend some money for a nicer night out, but not outrageous.
The experience at the Willow Creek was fantastic! We had Italian Mimosas and they were fantastic. The variety of different options for brunch were great and well worth the price. It seemed that the waiters were very busy and would not check on our table very often. I would go back!
This restaurant continues to impress me. Although they don't offer much of a menu change by the seasons, they do source their foods. We enjoyed sustainably-raised Verasso Salmon. The staff was knowledgable as to why the chef had selected this particular fish. (Verasso is the only seaside farm-raised salmon to be certified environmental, sustainable option by the Monterey Bay Aquarium's Seafood Watch list). It was prepared perfectly. Thank you, chef, for caring to make a sustainable choice. (At times Wild Salmon becomes too expensive for small restaurants to serve).
This was our first time here. We went to celebrate our 14th anniversary & it couldn't have been better. We were greeted warmly when we entered & Megan was our waitress, she was great! My wife had the Haddock with lobster sauce & I had the Buffalo ribeye both were very good. Beautiful views of the lake & a warm inviting atmosphere. I would recommend this place to anyone.
