Willis Seafood & Raw Bar in downtown Healdsburg is a cuisine junction of the East Coast, South America and classic wine country. The vibrant atmosphere, cozy dcor and seasonally changing menu will have you returning again and again to see what has changed at Willis Seafood & Raw Bar.
As the name implies, Willis Seafood & Raw Bar includes plenty of seafood and a raw bar by the pound selection. The lunch and dinner menu consists of tasteful treats such as little neck clam bake, New England style Maine lobster roll, grill skewers and a long list of small plates engineered for table sharing.
Very nice patio dining experience. We had an excellent, knowledgeable server who guided us nicely through the many choices offered here. All servings were very good and perfect for sharing, enabling us to sample several dishes. The atmosphere was calming and lovely and we'd love to return here.
Willi's was great, it is a tapas place, so really great for sharing with a large group. We had a group of 12 and had pretty much everything on the menu. The wine list is local and very nice. The deserts were very good as well. I first went 10 years ago, and still loved it this time. You won't be disapointed.
Great ambiance and excellent food. The fish tacos and grilled halibut were delicious!
Outdoor seating was full so we sat in cooler A/C main room. Drink orders were taken and cucumber-lemon drop style martini and a scotch/ honey concoction. Both were excellent. Oysters came next, fresh and properly briny accompanied by crisp fries and aioll, homemade ketchup. We shared an excellent salmon tartar, fresh sautéed spinach with marmalade, excellent sourdough roll with herb butter (extra, but worth the $4) and lobster rolls with a non-mayonnaise sauce and fresh fennel slaw and fish tacos. Food prices reflect the high quality of offerings. As food comes out when ready, expect a delay and not everything coming at same time. Expect to pay $50pp if ordering wine, spirits and suggested 2 small pelted pp. A top 100 Bay Area choice for sure!
My husband and I ate here on a recent trip to Healdsburg. It was absolutely fabulous! We sampled 5 or 6 different small plates and each was as good as the next. We will definitely return to Willi's if we ever get back to wine country.
We enjoyed this restaurant in downtown Healdsburg Ca. The service was friendly and fast. The food is small plates, rather like tapas. We recommend the sourdough bread, the calamari and the ahi tuna. The oysters were disappointing - small - but everything else was excellent.
Visited because of Trip Advisor ratings. We had reservations, arrived early and was seated promptly outside on the patio. It was slightly cool but the overhead heaters warmed us nicely. The service was good but rushed; I hate feeling like the server is so busy that we must make an immediate decision at any given time or we won't get another chance for a while. We tried several of the recommended dishes from "social media" including the lobster roll, calamari, steamed clams and the sour dough bread loaf. It was all good but nothing special or memorable, probably over priced for what you get, but then again, you are in a hugh tourist area (trap). We probably won't return, been there, done that. We still believe Barndiva is a better palce to dine out in that local area. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend friends to visit Willi's but we wouldn't go out of our way to return here again.
Excellent. When in Cally, Willi's is always on the agenda. Great small plates to share.
Always consistent and great food. I have been going here since 2006
We ate dinner twice at Willi's during our week in Healdsburg because there was so much to try on the excellent menu. We like to share so this was a great spot for us. The raw bar offered excellent oysters, shrimp and crab. Also, we loved the fried clams, beet salad and the heritage bean salad. Started our first night in the bar where the excellent mixologist shared stories about the local distilling scene -- a nice break from the wine talk!
We rarely comment unless things are really, really good or really, really bad. Willies was really, really good. Incredible food. Get the clam strips, amazing, you will have several servings before you leave.
Have had large groups of friends, rrelatives, rromantic evenings, etc.
We had an excellent meal mid afternoon on Mother's Day...had a reservation and we were seated immediately. The strawberry short cake was excellent.
The food was all very tasteful, service was friendly and helpful. Even though it says small plates on the menu i thought they were really small for the price they were charging. But again the foid was really good.
Booked a reservation for 3 for Mother's Day, then called back to add 2 more. The original time I chose was not available for 5 people, so I took the next available time that was suggested to me, which happened to be just 15 minutes later than the original time.
When we arrived, the hostess told us that our table would be crowded. I asked why, and she said it was because I changed my reservation. I said, "That doesn't make any sense, because I changed it to a time YOU suggested." She was anything but sympathetic.
We were seated at the last booth upstairs, with a chair in the aisle, and we continued to watch them fail other patrons by trying to seat 3 at what was clearly a table for 2. We overheard a group of 5 or 6 say "We made these reservations MONTHS ago," as the hostess attempted to seat them at a table for 4.
What's going on here, Willi's?! Getting in the game of overbooking and then poo-pooing on your upset customers? Why are you ok with having upset customers? And when are you going to train your hostesses how to better work with people?
I think I've had my last meal here. Of course, it won't make a difference to Willi's in the long run b/c there will always be tourist business. But man... it's too bad.
My husband and I were on a get-a-way to the wine country of California from Philadelphia and Willie's had ben recommended by locals and had great reviews on line. We had a wonderful noshing dinner and loved the energetic atmosphere and decor. Our waitress, Jennifer, was so engaging as well. We would highly recommend this fun tapes setting to anyone in the Healdsburg area!
What a pleasant surprise! We had a leisurely lunch yesterday consisting of multiple small plates. Every single one was exceptional, not a single clunker. Even the vegetable or grain garnishes on each plate were perfect. Service was attentive and friendly. I don't know if it's always this good but whoever was in the kitchen that day really knows what they're doing.
Hamachi Ceviche is fabulous. Always enjoy eating there
Had a great dinner with my husband and brothers and their wives. We went to celebrate their wedding anniversaries. It was a very nice evening. We thank Willi's for the complimentary glasses of champagne.
While traveling through Wine Country (Sonoma), we got lucky and stumbled on WILLI'S SEAFOOD AND RAW BAR. Not knowing what to expect, my group ordered a number of different items and were very pleased with everything.
The variety of fresh or raw seafood is amazing! Each selection is creatively prepared and seasoned for a perfect balance of ingredients. Friendly, professional staff create the lively, relaxed atmosphere.
We go up to Sonoma at least once a year, and we ALWAYS eat at Willi's. It never lets us down. Amazing food, great deal, wonderful ambiance, service, etc. We recommend it to all of our friends.
My wife and I enjoyed a great casual meal here while on vacation in wine country.
Met friends for lunch, dined on patio. Everything was superb. Only drawback is the noise from the street. Willi's is my go to place, and I've never been disappointed.
We were a group of 6 and had lots of different dishes - everything was excellent. Small dishes. server recommended 2-3 per person. We had 14 for the 6 of us and it was perfect.
Food saves the lack of service. Been here twice and haven't had a bad food item, only poor service.
Had the calamari, lobster rolls and Queso dip w / Fritos.. It was all very good!
We had a very nice lunch with friends. You need to be willing to share as all the dishes are "small plates". They bring a few dishes at a time, as ready. So don't expect everything to be served at once. You should take the time to enjoy an easy paced meal.
We were a group of 7. We shared a variety of small plates. The favorites were the calamari, the asparagus, the chicken and lamb skewers and the shrimp, kale salad and beet salad.
Our server was very attentive. Very good experience.
As I always say, it was excellent
Fun spot!! Great choices of small plates. Enjoyed our experience!
Everyone in our party found something they liked and most people shared, hahaha. Waitress was knowledgeable about wine as well as menu.
Highest marks from our order go to the calamari and warm spinach salad. Go here. Willi not disappoint.
riccardo is great - always fun and really pays attention to details. Oysters, particularly the Hog Islands, were wonderful and Willie's has the best mignonette!
The staff were attentive & the waiter provided good suggestions on what to order.S
I made a reservation here based on good reviews and was not disappointed. 2 of us shared 4 small plates and each one was delicious, and flavorful. I would recommend this to anyone visiting the area.
Each visit we wish we could be more enthused but the food is only good and the prices too high for a high recommendation.
Very good food but some flaws--shrimp were tasty but some over-cooked, not enough seafood choices (how about scallop without bacon?).
Excellent vegetables
We had a memorable dinner at Willi's last Tuesday night, which was a great night for outdoor dining (with space heaters on). It was just about a perfect dining experience. The service was very warm and professional. The food was great. We had the warm sourdough bread with garlic parsley butter, Kale Caesar salad, flash fried fresh calamari, grilled fish tacos and almond crusted sole. Each dish exceeded our expectations. I thought it was impossible to get excited about kale, but this salad proved me wrong. The fish was very fresh and well seasoned. We enjoyed a nice bottle of reasonably priced chardonnay. The only downside was having to leave. To stay a little longer, we shared a "mason jar" cheesecake. It was good, but a bit too sweet for our tastes. I told my wife that I wanted to come back the next night (never said that before), but it wasn't possible since we were leaving town early the next day. But we will be back soon.
Loved the excellent food, staff, and ambiance. Hope to return soon!
Seated on time? A+. Food? A+. Service? F-. We sat and waited 20 minutes to be greeted by our waiter. He serviced tables on each side of us, so he was aware of us. 4 orders of lobster roll took 45 minutes for us to receive. Meanwhile, the table next to us were served, billed, left. Next couple in, waited on, served, billed, left. Next couple in, and ordered before we got our food. Waiter only apologized for the wait after we summoned a hostess hovering in the area and made her aware of the situation. This is the 2nd time we've received poor service when bringing friends from out of town to a great restaurant in the heart of Healdsburg. They must be scratching their heads, wondering what we see in the place. Both sets of visitors were not impressed. I was rather embarrassed to have brought them there.
